May 26 - May 28 Getting Set Up

May 26, Wed

Well our morning routine includes Breakfast, Walk, chores. Then we did a little inventory of the supplies in the shed and let our boss know what we needed. Soon Tony Powell came down and brought our requested supplies and had us sign our volunteer papers. Steve showed him the signs  (No Fireworks and No jumping off the Dock) to see if he approved. He liked them. Tony also helped us move the picnic table. We ate leftover pizza for lunch. The fire pit area had big logs from winter cleanup in the way. So we moved them with the help of the pickup and tow rope. Next we got our mat down and other stuff set up. We ran into town for weedeater gas and a few other items. That about finished our day.

May 27, The

We slept in today -it was 9:30 before we got up. We walked the dogs and did our chores. Our next project was to head to Kalispell and go to the RV dealer for a new thermostat for the RV heater. Also I need to go to Walmart and get one of the medications that Great Falls did not have. Of course we also  had to buy groceries and supplies. Sometimes getting medicine on the road is a little challenging. Late this evening about 10:15 I heard noise at the dock. I went down to investigate and found a man pumping water out of the lake into a 1,000 gallon tank. I asked him if he had a permit. He said no and I gave him our boss’s card to see if this was an OK thing to do.

May 28, Fri

It as chilly most of the day. It was 46-56 and windy at times. After breakfast we called the boss  and let him know about the guy who was pumping water out of the lake. Later i took a nap and Steve worked on the furnace again. There is still something not right. This evening we took a short drive and saw 3—4 deer. The game warden came by about 7:00.

May 29 - May 31, 2021 Memorial Day Weekend

May 29, Sat

We did our usual routine this morning. After the walk and chores Steve did some weedeating. Then we went to town  to check the fishing access site at Bigfork. This weekend is the Whitewater Festival in town. We stopped at the grocery store and returned to the RV for a nap and just hanging out and monitoring the crowd.

May 30, Sun

The morning routine was the same and Steve did some more weed eating. Then he took a break and did some more. I usually help him and give him a little break. We were just hanging out at the RV and keeping our eyes out for problems. We also took a short drive and walked the dogs.

May 31, Mon

Today we had our breakfast and walked. Next we did our chores. We put the barrier rope and cable around our site. We really don’t like people walking through our area. About 2:30 or 3:00 PM we counted 50 cars on the road outside of the gate and 35 vehicles in the parking lot. We were packed. Some lady came and wanted to borrow a lighter - I gave her one. Told her there was no need to return it- she could have it. I tried to nap - but didn’t go to sleep. Later I checked on our bills and sent a message about meds to Steve’s HCP about some of his meds.

Afternoon Chaos! LOL

May 25, 2021 Travel to Echo Lake

We were up and around pretty good this morning and got on the road by 9:15 AM. It was a lovely slow drive over MT 200. Beautiful mountains!

Just outside Great Falls

We drove over Rogers Pass without any problems. That is where the continental divide is on today’s path.

Then we went through Lincoln, MT Seeley Lake and Swan Valley.

That is a beautiful drive.

We stopped at Ferndale and topped up the RV gas and propane. Then we arrived at Echo Lake.

The lake looked pretty low- hopefully the snow melt and rain will fill it up soon.

The first thing we did was to unhook the pickup from the RV. Then we parked the RV in its summer spot and put down the jack pads and started the leveling process. Its a little difficult to get the RV level because we are on the side of a mountain lake with a beautiful view. Then we got our utilities hooked up and went to town (Bigfork) and ate pizza at Rosa’s Pizza. It was good.

May 21 - 24, 2021 (Friday - Monday) We are hanging out in Great Falls in the Malmstrom AFB Famcamp

Fri, May 21

We got up and around. The bedroom temperature was up to 70 degrees. There is more snow! Almost 4 inches! We putzed around and ate snacks. Later we walked the dogs and carried out our trash. This at least got us outside. The RV was 67 degrees inside - with the space heater running. This is fine because I dressed warm. We spent most of the day working on the computer and watching TV. I talked to my sisters and we had another outing around the Famcamp RV Park to interrupt the boredom.

Sat, May 22

We walked the dogs and the day was much nicer. There was no rain or snow. Another item on the agenda was laundry. We were parked in site # 1 very close to the restrooms and laundry, so we took advantage of that and  did two loads of laundry. Later we both used the showers here at the Famcamp. These are very nice bathroom facilities. Since Steve was stationed at this base the last 5 years of his time in the Air Force -we drove around and toured the base. In addition we also returned to Walmart to pickup my medicine and a few more supplies.

Sun, May 23

Well we were up at 8:30 but really didn’t do anything until about 11 AM. It was rainy and chilly, like 41 degrees, feels like 34 degrees! We finally took the dogs out to walk and ate lunch about 1:00. We paid for another day here and watched it rain! A little boring! Steve has been trying to research what is wrong with the RV heater. That has occupied a lot of his time.

Mon, May 24

On the weather front: the temperature is better and there is no rain or snow. But, the WIND is Horrible! And I say that being from Oklahoma where the wind always blows. Today we got rid of some pillows that are not good anymore. Steve wants a new pillow - so out go some old ones. We returned to Walmart for more stuff. I don't know where everything disappears to but we may not be making the best lists. Oh well. Today the Montana weather is miserable. Sometime hearing the wind blow almost drives a person crazy! Later we had a nice relaxing nap. Tomorrow will be better.
