October 1 - 15, 2023 Arriving Home and Catching Up

Oct 1 -  Sunday-Well we arrived home  yesterday and today we are relaxing somewhat. We also are doing laundry, watching football and sorting mail.

Oct 2 - Monday- Today we are unloading stuff from the RV and working on catching up Quicken. My friend Dottie was supposed to come over but she cancelled. Steve and I had lunch at La Macarena. We also unloaded the back of the pickup.

Oct 3-Tuesday - After getting dressed and getting around we drove to OKC for Steve's VA appointment. He has to have papers filled out by the PA every few years saying he can still drive  (because he has MS). He has been very stable with his MS, thank god. We were  back home in time for lunch. Steve also got his flu shot while we were there. Supper tonight was at La Macarena (fajitas) with Linda and Hazel.

Oct 4-Wednesday-So today we were off to Walmart for groceries. Then it was back home to put away the groceries. Then we relaxed. Dottie wanted to meet in Ponca CIty  - so we drove there and went out to eat at Enrique's. It's a great Mexican restaurant that I have been going to over many years. When I used to work at Ponca City - we would break away from work once in a while and eat lunch there. They have the best soup! And darn it, they don't have the soup available at night. Enrique's is at the airport. They have added this cute fox since I was here the last time.

Me & Dottie standing by the fox.

Oct 5-Thursday- It's our 21st anniversary! I got these beautiful flowers from my husband. did our routine things this morning. I did bill paying. Later I went to Thorn's and bought some beautiful mums to put outside. Next on the agenda was getting a perm at Linda's.

Oct 6-Friday- I didn't record anything - so mainly we must have just completed our routines and putzed around! Buster (one of our dogs) kind of got skunked last night. We did go to Stillwater Mill and get a product to bathe with that helped decrease the skunk odor. We also got mothballs and ammonia to put under the shed where we think the skunk is residing. Hope it helps!

Oct 7-Saturday-Another routine day. We looked at the weeds behind the fence, a mess and we are not quite ready to tackle that yet.

Oct 8 -Sunday-On weekends we spend a lot of time watching football, depending on which teams are playing. For supper tonight, we picked up pizza. Great decision. I didn't have to cook! We have been trying to walk in our neighborhood most days. I took a picture of this crack on the back patio. We don't remember it being this big before we left for Montana last spring. I guess the drought and heat made it worse. Who knows?

Oct 9 - Monday-Today we worked outside getting rid of weeds on the north side of the house, backyard and some in front. We watered the front yard. Steve cleaned out my car and vacuumed it. In addition we did our laundry.

The ditch behind our house that was clean before we left.

Oct 10-Tuesday-On the agenda for today, we did bookkeeping and bill paying. After lunch we went to the beauty shop and I got my hair colored and Steve got a hair cut. We stopped by the City of Perry Office to complain about the ditch behind our house and all the branches that were blocking the drainage. I wanted to attend Book Club but I was too late. We went out to supper with Linda and Hazel at La Macarena.

Oct 11-Wednesday-.Today our main business was to go to Walmart We did that and got home by 12:15 and had lunch after we put our groceries put away. We did some more bookkeeping and I also did some work on my blog.

Oct 12-Thursday-After doing the  routine things and walking, we relaxed a bit. Then we sprayed some weeds in the front of the house. Steve worked on the weed eater and did some work behind the fence.

Oct 13-Friday-We were up early today, We got ready and left for OKC about 8:00 AM. We arrived about 9:00 AM for Steve's eye appointment. They must have been very behind today because we did not get out of the appointment until 12:45 PM. We went to a fabric place and bought some material to upholster our dining room chairs. Then we went to Cheevers for lunch. It is a little bit fancy place in Uptown OKC. After that we made a stop at Walmart in Edmond and then went home. I got my flu and  RSV shots today.

Oct 14-Saturday-We worked in the computer room today. We got rid of trash and other stuff. We enjoyed a nice lunch and a walk. My team, Oklahoma State won  their football game! Yea!

Oct 15-Sunday-Pretty much routine day for us. we watched football and took it easy.

October 4 - 10, 2021 Getting Settled at Home and Getting Things Done!

Monday (4th) After we did our morning routine we took a walk. Then it was laundry. I also worked on the computer and had to call Apple about malware on my machine. They helped me solve the problem. Next we made a list of all the projects we need to do. I made an appointment to get another steroid sot in my shoulder - I am so tired of it hurting. We picked up a pizza at The Hut - but it was not too great. It may be awhile before we do that again.

Tuesday - 5th. Today after we got around we drove to OKC about 8:00 AM. Steve had an appointment with the SCI clinic to fill out papers for his drivers license. He also got a flu shot! We were back home by 11;30 AM. After lunch we hauled off two loads of branches to the dump. They looked terrible in the front of the house. We talked to Ben Passow about cutting down our trees in the front yard. They make Steve have an allergic reaction - so we are getting rid of them. Plus they also shed branches and leaves like crazy. No more Sycamore trees. Today we also celebrated our 19th wedding anniversary!

Wednesday. We were up early again this morning. We returned to the VA to see the Pain management doctor. He gave Steve an appointment for November to do the back ablation. We returned home and had lunch followed by a nap. I talked to the tree guy (Ben) and he will be here tomorrow to cut down the trees. I paid some bill. My car has tire pressure monitoring and they all read about26-27 psi - so we checked them with a real tire pressure gauge and they were all at 32 psi - so what about that? Steve worked on the RV TV problem. We cut some weeds back behind the fence because they were pretty tall. No one takes care of the alley and then the water doesn't run through properly when it rains. So we do it.

With Trees

Thursday (7th) Today Ben Passow was here at 8:00 Am to start cutting don the trees in the front yard. He finished about 10:00 AM and then returned later to grind down our stumps. After lunch we went to Linda's and I got a perm. That usually takes about 2 hours. Then we returned home. After supper we watched TV and relaxed.

Friday (8th) Today we worked out front to clean off our front porch. Steve worked to straighten his small shed. While he did that I worked on the leaves in the back yard. Steve also worked on the RV TV He dismantled the whole thing up front and in the back. Supper was Turkey burgers, oven french fries and berries.

Saturday I tried to help Steve install the thermostat in the RV. The gas heat still doesn't kick on. We also worked on the TV some more. Later we watched OU beat Texas. Then we cleaned up and took showers. We went to Oklahoma City to meet Kristi and John at Mama Rojas. It is a Mexican restaurant on the shore of Lake Hefner. The food was pretty good and the service was good. It did take quite a while to get the food so we ate a lot of chips! Then we walked around the lake a bit and visited. It was a nice night but pretty windy. John was askingSteve about marrying Kristi - he wanted to discuss it with him before he asks her.

Yes, it was 94 degrees on Oct 9!

Sunday (10th) Today we watched football. Green bay Packers won and Dallas won. We did walk around the neighborhood. Supper was Hamburgers, beans, and berries. We also got about 3 inches of rain.

Rental Scooter

When we took our walk we saw this scooter  just laying out in the street. The City of Perry has some kind of contract to have these scooters. We are a small town and have a larger older population. Can't you just imagine us older folks riding these scooters? (Sarcasm) I think it's crazy that we have these, but nobody asked for my opinion. Anyway, you won't see me riding one!  And they look unattractive laying in the street!

September 1 - 15, 2021 Winding Down the Summer at Echo Lake Montana

On Wednesday, September 1 we woke up to 45 degrees in the morning and the high for the day ended up at 67. Today we got the car count and sent it to our boss. After our walk and chores we ventured to Kalispell for supplies at Walmart and also picked up a bottle jack at Auto Zone (because Walmart was out).

We saw this cute car in Kalispell

We got home and ate our leftover pizza and put away our supplies. We took an evening walk on trust land.  Thursday was another day doing all the usual things. Supper was Ham, Eggs, Toast and Berries. We had another nice walk on the trust land. The evening was just lovely. Friday (3) we were a little more energetic and did some weed eating. We also went to town about 11 AM and did the chores.Steve surprised me and said, "Let's go to BurgerTown and get lunch". I was in agreement and we had a yummy burger and fries. We also stopped at the drugstore to get birthday cards and then went back to the RV. Tony Powell was here and we visited with him for awhile. He left about 1:45. Our evening entertainment was a drive to Horseshoe Lake. We saw lots of deer on our drive.

We think this guy is ready for a Montana winter

Saturday it was another lovely day and we were not extremely busy at the lake. We had a campfire this evening and cooked potatoes in foil and burgers outside. I always think that the food cooked outside tastes so good! Later we had another fire and made S'mores. Sunday the 5th was a busy day. People were parked out on the road all the way to the stop sign. Steve was working on researching how to change out the front jack - so I walked Buster on the Loop road and we saw 2 deer. Steve took Poopsie out. We did our chores later and the hose was needed for the outdoor toilet.  Later we drove into town for some groceries.

Saw these 5 turkeys on the east end of the causeway when we came back from town

People enjoying the Sunday before Labor Day

Monday the 6th was the actual holiday for Labor day. Steve was up at 6:30 and I slept til 8 AM. We did all the routine things and sat outside enjoying the morning after we did our chores.  Most of the people were gone by 3 PM because the wind came up. On Tuesday we went to town and did our laundry after the routine things were completed. We also went to the post office and store. We were a little late getting to the laundry - and so  it was about 2PM before we finished. Out evening walk was again over on the trust land. It's a flat, smooth place to walk, so we enjoy that.  Wednesday brought smoke back to our area and we stayed in the RV some. In fact I fell back to sleep. Steve had sneezing fits. We started our walk and he had an asthma attack so we hurried him back to the RV so he could use his inhaler. We walked the dogs up on the loop a little ways but then Poopsie started limping so we went back to the RV. Steve worked hard taking off the leveling jack on the right front of the RV. That was no easy task. On Thursday the 9th we got around and did our walk and chores. Then we drove to Kalispell and dropped off the jack to be fixed. We let the dogs ride along so they wouldn't get so lonely. I thought about buying a dog stroller for Poopsie, but decided that they would do good on the rocky road. So I bought her some joint supplements. We watched the Dallas Cowboys get beat by the Tampa Bay Bucaneers for our evening entertainment. Friday rolled around and we did our usual walk and chores. Then Steve painted the floor of the outdoor toilet and locked it so nobody could mess it up. We headed into town to haul our trash and do the chores. We also  went to the grocery store and then back home for lunch. Tony Powell came by and visited with us again. I made taco salad and we ate berries for dessert. It rained overnight. Saturday was overcast and the high was 60 degrees. There isn't much going on here at the lake. Oklahoma State beat Tulsa in football! Yea! We checked the paint in the bathroom and kept it locked. I made chicken vegetable soup for our supper. Sunday, the 12 was watched more football after chores.

Sunset - Echo Lake

Lunch was leftover soup and then we watched football.  We took the dogs on a little drive and returned to the RV. Later we had another campfire, which made for a nice evening.Monday the 13th we did all the usual chores and had lunch. We thought the new paint on the bathroom floor should be dry so we opened it up.

Tony Powell came by and we  visited with him. Next on the agenda was to head to Kalispell to pick up the jack cylinder that was repaired. We also went to Cabella's and got a collapsible wagon in case Poopsie needed it to ride around in. The day also included a stop at Walmart for medicines  and other supplies. We got back home and took it easy for awhile before we started supper.  Tuesday we got around and did our walk and chores. After lunch Steve worked on the jack some more to install it. He finished today. Today I talked to Hazel and she found out that we received a letter from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety regarding Steve's Driver's License. Since he has MS - they require papers to be filled out by his physician every year or so in order to keep his license. Therefore we will make that appointment at the VA and arrive at home in time to take care of that item.  On Wednesday we cleaned and organized the shed after we did the chores. Steve put some caulk around the toilet in the outdoor privvy. We put away the barrier that we had been using since July (good riddance) and the lawnmower. Tony Powell came by again to visit before we leave. He is going to take some time off to go to Minnesota Boundary waters on a canoe, camping and fishing trip. We started making our preparations to leave: Dump the fresh water, fold up the window shades, fold and store the mat, wash the front window, dump the tanks, pack and re-pack the pickup bed. We also have to lock up the picnic table, fire pit and trash can. After all that work, we rested. Tonight we went to town and ate at Rosa's Pizza because we were pooped.
