September 16 - 23, 2025 Winding Down the Summer

16-Tue-We were up a little earlier today. We got dressed and made our bed. I even took time to drink hot cocoa! We walked Buster and got Poopsie out. Then we were on our way to town to meet Tony P and Kelly for breakfast. We met at the Pocketsone Cafe. It was a good meal and a nice end of season get together. Steve and I both think Echo Lake cafe is best though. Everyone has an opinion. We did make a stop at the gift shop in Bigfork but did not buy anything. Then it was back to the RV. Steve got out his remote control speed boat (toy) and ran it in the water. We walked the north beach to the concrete blocks. Then we were back inside and watched TV. Supper was Chili nachos and berries.

Buster is puzzled by Steve's remote control boat!

17-Wed-We were up at 7:30 or so. After breakfast we watched TV til 10 AM. Then we got dressed and made the bed, completed our walk and chores. We putzed around after that. Steve did work on the awning a bit - because it was making a noise when we wind it up. We had lunch and Kelly came by and stayed about 45 minutes. At 3:30 PM we loaded up the dogs and went to Hungry Horse, MT and went to the Huckleberry Patch. I bought sweatshirts for the grandkids (5) and a fleece quarter zip for my sister. My sister has a birthday Oct 5 - so this will be her birthday present. We then went to Hungry Horse Dam and looked around and took pictures. While we were in the neighborhood we decided to drive into Glacier National Park. We drove part way up the Going to The Sun Road. It was getting late so we turned around and got Ice Cream at Apgar Village. It was really good but not cheap. Steve paid $20 for two ice cream cones and a bottle of water. It was 8:30 PM when we got home.

18-Thu-We were up at 9:00. we had our breakfast and watched TV til 11:00 or so. Then we walked around the loop road and checked the bathroom. We had a late lunch. We went to town and mailed the birthday present to Marsha before the post office closed. Also we picked up Steve’s meds at the UPS store. And of course we had to run into the grocery store for a few items. Supper was chicken, mixed vegetables and berries and ice cream for dessert.

There is a deer behind the tree! Look hard.

The lovely fleece quarter zip for my sis.

19-Fri-We did all the routine things this morning. We left for Kalispell about 10:20 and went to an RV place at the north end of town, called Bergeson’s. We checked out the RVs there but none of them suited us. We went to Walmart for groceries. We did not get home until almost 2:00 PM. We put our stuff away and had lunch. Then we were pooped so we rested. My Oklahoma State Cowboys football team got beat by Tulsa! That is not good. Supper was Hamburger helper and berries.

20-Sat-We were up at 8:30 this morning. We completed our routine morning items and watched football. Texas Tech won their game and OU won. Steve washed the underside of the awning. I assisted.

21-Sun-We were a little late getting up this morning - it was 9 AM. After breakfast we walked the loop and did our chores. Then it was more football. We watched Dallas get beat by the Bears and then Denver lost also. I made us good sandwiches for lunch  (grilled turkey with cheese on sourdough bread). This is just like vacation the last few weeks!

22-Mon-We completed all our routine things this morning. We checked the outdoor toilet and it was fine. No cleaning needed. We had a small campfire this morning. Next we checked the air in the RV tires, also the oil, put away the perimeter  rope, life vests and dumped the tanks. I typed up a shed inventory and emailed it to Tony. We picked up the flag and reflector in the parking lot and put them away. We folded up the extra shade material that we attach to the awning. Steve also cleaned out the back of the pickup. We went to Rosa’s Pizza for supper.

All these deer (7) were right beside Highway 35 in front of Sliter's Hardware store in Bigfork.

23-Tue-It was chilly 38° when we got up this morning. We did our chores and took a walk. After finishing, we loaded up the laundry and went to the laundromat. We also stopped at the UPS store and Harvest Foods. We ate lunch and put away our clean clothes. Tony P. stopped by and I gave him the volunteer notebook. We were inside about 30 minutes and Kelly came by to see us. Supper was turkey bacon, eggs, toast and berries.

June 16-30, 2024 The Calm Before the Storm!

16-Sun-My weather notes are windy and cool. We did all the same old things. The game warden was here today. We also got a video call from Kristi and the great grand baby.

17-Mon-Today we were inside most of the day due to crappy weather. It was rainy and chilly. The temperature was 43-45°.

Poopsie joined us on our walk and almost got away! LOL

18-Tue-After doing our chores we gathered up the laundry and trash. We have to haul our trash to the container center. Then it was back home to put away the laundry. It rained from 1:45 to about 6:00 PM. I made chili tonight. Yum!

19-Wed-The weather improved today. We walked the beach and picked up trash over on the DNRC side. After lunch we did weed eating on the road and by the shed. My sister called and I tried to help her with Facebook market place. But I am not too knowledgeable about it.

20-Thu-After doing chores and checking the bathroom, we were off to Walmart. We got home by 12:15 and unloaded our stuff and put it away. Next was lunch. I put the tens unit on Steve for most of the afternoon and evening. His back is giving him fits. I monitored the lot to make sure everyone was behaving.

21-Fri-Steve got up early and did a lot of weed eating. Now he is trying to fix the check valve on the RV back flush. Next we went to the chiropractor and then Bish’s and S & S Camper. We finally found a part he could use at S & S Camper. Then it was back to the RV and he installed the check valve. Our boss called for an update.

22-Sat-Sydney was by about noon. We monitored the parking lot and kept a check on the bathroom. It was a busy day.

23-Sun-My weather note for today is Windy. The beach had to be picked because there was trash on it. It was busy here, a lot of boats launched today. We had hamburgers and chips for supper.

This is a lily pad that floated over. It was gone the next day.

This is the parking ticket we give!

This guy said he would only be here to load. But it took him I long time.
When I saw him I told him he lied to me. And he needed to get his truck moved. It is blocking the wide swing area needed for the boat trailers!

24-Mon-Well Steve’s back is not improving. I made him rest while I picked up trash on the beach. Later we took the dogs on a ride to Horseshoe Lake. We had supper in town at Rosa’s Pizza.

25-Tue-We did our usual things this morning. Tony P called and arrived here with a case of toilet paper and the no fireworks signs before we finished our walk. We did the chores and put up the no fireworks signs.

26-Wed-Today was a little adventure day. We finished our chores and loaded up the trash. Then we took the dogs and went to Hungry Horse MT to the Huckleberry Patch about noon. We were home about 2:30 PM. I wanted to get some birthday presents purchased to mail home before this whole area becomes crowded with tourists.

We found out there was a storm at home. We had some damage and learned later there was more damage than first discovered. Anyway a new roof and gutters are in order when we get home.

Thought about getting this for our boss! LOL

27-Thu-We were inside a lot today because it rained. We did not walk until 4:30 or so. We picked up trash on the road to keep things looking nice. Later we took the dogs on a short drive.

28-Fri-We did our morning routine and took a walk. Steve’s back is still giving him trouble. I walked the beach and cleaned the outdoor toilet. Tony was here and pulled out the dock. He had me sign the stipend paper. Later we listened to a podcast while sitting outside.

29-Sat-Today we did a good washout on the bathroom floor of the outhouse. Later we went to town. Then I monitored the parking lot pretty closely.

30-Sun-We had some more rain today and it was not too busy. I did some reading in bed today. The stopped about 10:30 then we took a short walk and did the chores. Tony P came by about 12:45. The electricity was off about 4 hours. We are so glad the generator works great! One of the reasons we love our little volunteer job here is that we see deer almost everyday. Sometimes they pose really great!

Found in the outdoor toilet. A little surprise. At least they had it stacked neatly!
