Jun 1- 15, 2024 The Season Is Revving Up! A Look at Lake Life!

1-Sat-We shortened our walk today. Today is the 1st so we sent the car count to our boss Tony. Steve’s back is a little better. While we were walking we saw two deer. At 4 PM the sheriff passed through the parking lot. About 25 minutes later the new Game Warden was here. He took his boat out and left after about two hours. I talked to him, but I guess he is shy, he didn’t visit long.

Deer

2-Sun-We had rain overnight. We did the usual morning routine. It was not too busy today. In the evening it was overcast with rain.

3-Mon-It was a slow day today. It rained most of the day. Some say it was an atmospheric river. Not may people here. The dock is under water partially. The boss will have to come pull it out. We went to town and got pizza at Rosa’s and also made a stop at the grocery store.

4-Tue-Routine stuff completed. I talked to Tony about the dock needing pulled out. He said he forgot. I also let him know about a Ford Ranger pickup that was here overnight but gone this morning. Then we gathered the laundry and went to town. It only took us 2 hours and we were done. Then we had lunch and watched some tv. I watched the progress of my sister’s flight. She is coming from New Jersey to Oklahoma. Of course I am up here in Montana, so I won’t get to see her. I made chicken soup for supper. This makes enough for at least 2 meals, sometimes 3 meals.

5-Wed-Linda called me and so I was up at 7:30. People in other time zones don’t realize it’s early here in Montana. We did all the routine things. The we tried to start the lawnmower. We had no luck. Tony came and pulled out the dock. Steve tried the mower again, it didn’t start. So we went to town for starting fluid. He also fixed the car counter. The lid had been hit and it was hard to open and shut. After lunch we just putzed.

Flowers

They have moved a bunch of dirt and rocks taking down a hillside at one of the places we walk by. We are watching to see what happens.

6-Thu-After completing our morning routine and chores, I did a lot of monitoring of the parking lot. The school kids were here. There were a lot of other folks here at the lake today also. After lunch Steve had an appointment with the chiropractor for his back. Then it was back to the RV for relaxation.

7-Fri-Today we mowed by the bathroom and also did weed eating. We also monitored the parking lot. When we finished the yard work we were pooped. Sydney came by to bring me a paper to sign. It was a very busy day. We also went to the grocery store in town.

How about this boat? I wanted them to adopt me.

Beautiful flowers

8-Sat-Today we did more weed eating and extra beach cleanup. We sat outside and monitored the parking til about 2 PM. Then we went inside a while. Sydney was back by here. It was a very busy day. Supper was taco salad.

9-Sun-Completed our chores and hung out to monitor the parking lot. I talked to who came in the wrong way - down the exit road. I said do not do that again. I did not feel great. so I was in and out most of the day.

10-Mon-We were up at :30. So after we did all the morning things, we went to Walmart. The we were home about 1:00 and put away our stuff, and had lunch. Steve dumped our tanks. One of the boat education people, Mark was here. I visited with him. Then it was time to take it easy.

11-Tue-We saw a nice deer on our walk today. It was windy off and on today. There is not much going on here today. It seems Tuesdays are slow. Later we took the dogs on a ride to Strawberry Trailhead Road. It was very bumpy so we only went about a half mile on the forest road and got the dogs out to walk. Some days we just don’t want to ride on those really potholed, bumpy roads.

Hello!

12-Wed-We did our chores and also walked the beach today. It was a lovely day. Then we mowed and did some weed eating on the road. Someone drove over a curb stop in the parking lot and turned it sideways. This is why we can’t have nice things! LOL Another kid got a rock in his jet ski and borrowed a wrench form Steve. A nap and TV were next. We went to Burgertown in Bigfork for supper. They make the best burgers and fries. We always share the fries because they give you a huge serving.

13-Thu-It was another routine morning. I sat outside with the dogs when we finished our chores. Steve put some jack stands under the RV because we are on a hillside sometimes our jacks come up a bit. Then he fixed up our can crusher. We had lot of activity today but everyone seemed to behave.

Foam from a dock that floated over. It was gone the next day.

14-Fri-We did weed eating this morning. Tony came by about 10:30. We did more weed eating after we visited with him. Today we did the triangle and the roadside outside the access site. Then we put the sun shades on the front window (after Steve cleaned the windows). We were busy today because it was warm and sunny!

15-Sat-It rained early this morning about 5:30 AM. We checked the bathroom and it was out of toilet paper! Shame on us! We did the chores then walked the dogs. Tony came by here to borrow the weed-eater. We went into town to pickup some groceries. We were home by lunch. It rained more later on.

Sept 7 - Sept 13, 2019 Forest Lookout Tower, Rain, and Boy was I Lucky!

Saturday - Sept 7
When the routine things were done, we found out Steve had caught a mouse. Our time here is passing fast. There were not too many folks here at11:15 AM.  Someone was here with diving equipment looking for lost anchors. Weird huh? Later we drove down to Porcupine Creek Road and checked the forest lookout and another forest road. We didn't see any bears. We had a nice walk and a campfire back at the RV. We ate nachos for supper, then showered and went to bed.

Sunday - Sept 8
Today we watched the Dallas Cowboys win their game! We ate hamburgers at home. It was a calm afternoon. We did see some divers again today. We walked the loop with the dogs later because they love that. They think they are on a hunting trip. Supper was Canadian Bacon, Scrambled eggs and toast.  We talked to Kristi then watched Longmire. It rained from 7 PM on through the night.

Divers- noticed he flippers

Monday - Sept 9
It was still raining this morning when we got up. We were late getting up so we quickly let the dogs out to go potty. They didn't want out much - they don't like the rain. We stayed inside while it rained, most of the day. It finally let up and walked the dogs. It rained again in the afternoon. Steve and I went to town for pizza then returned to watch TV.

Mist over mountains

Tuesday - Sept 10
After accomplishing our morning routine -we drove to Kalispell. We dropped our volunteer timesheets off at the FWP office, then went to Walmart for supplies. After getting back to the RV we put away our supplies and ate leftover pizza. A girl and her dog (with no leash) went to the dock and swam part way across the lake.  I told her the dog needed a leash but she didn't seem to care. She said, "We are just going to swim in the lake"
OK, fine. Later we  took the dogs on a ride to town and also cleaned the Bifogrk Access. We put out some rope lights under the RV because they are supposed to keep mice away. We were really nice to the dogs today - because we walked the north beach and let them come with us.  We are trying to use up our firewood - so we had a nice fire tonight also.

Wednesday - Sept 11
The mornings are all mostly the same. I made hamburger helper for lunch. Next we watched some TV. The aren't very many folks here today. Steve straightened out the back of the pickup. We also did an inventory of the supplies we have on hand in the shed. Steve picked up up rocks and sticks down in front of the boat parking, because he hopes to use the lawnmower there next year instead of weed eating. I worked on the blog some then watched Longmire . We also looked on the computer to check out new awnings to replace ours.
Weird piece of equipment someone brought down from the loop road to load onto a trailer later.

Thursday - Sept 12
Today Steve's back was bothering him. We walked after breakfast and did the chores about 11 AM. We checked the tire pressure on the RV - all at 86 - 88 pounds pressure. Then we checked the oil and fluids. The RV wouldn't start - so we drove to town for a couple of new connections. The dogs went with us - they love riding in the pickup. Steve got those ends changed and the RV started. We had a lunch of sandwiches and chips. I made Steve sit in his reclining chair and rest his back. He got a short nap. The we walked , had supper and watched TV.

Friday - Sept 13
Steve'a back was giving him fits and Zoey got him up at 3:00 AM. He called me to come help him back into the RV. We were up and down til 6:00 AM or so. He never got back to sleep , but I did and got up later at 8:30. After eating breakfast, I walked the dogs separately. I called a chiropractor in town  $30 Chiropractor - Dr. Whipple - Whip. He is open from 11 - 5:30 . We got there at 11 and Steve was 2nd in line. He started walking and feeling better soon. He was not great but improved. We returned to the RV and rested. Steve put  ice on his back and was a little better. He was good enough to walk a bit with the dogs. I fixed chicken  soup for supper then more resting and TV. We walked down in the parking lot and I found a $50 bill in the boat chute!  Lucky me!
