June 2021, The last half has been pretty busy and hot!

June 16 - 23, 2021

We did laundry on Wednesday and did chores around town. I sent my sister and her husband a housewarming card with some money to buy something for their new place. Since they aren’t staying at our house I suspended Direct TV today also. In the evening we drove to Swan River and checked out the forest campground and day use area there.

Our Dock under water- needs pulled out.

When we got home the Sheriff came by and asked us to close the gate at 11 PM. They had heard through snapchat that a party was going to happen at Echo lake tonight. So we tried to close it, but the gate doesn’t meet. So we did the best we could and stayed up late. No party ever happened. Yea!

Thursday we woke up tired because we were up late watching the gate. We did all the usual chores and took a nap. Later we had a nice campfire and listened to music.

Friday we did chores at both sites! Later, our boss was here to move the dock out. He forgot the toilet paper (supplies). We told him about our adventures: the rock, no electricity and the Sheriff visit. I talked to the vet in Bigfork . Steve’s hip was hurting him so I put the TENS unit on him.

On Saturday I found out the card I sent to my sister arrived safely. Steve wanted to rent a carpet shampooer and clean the RV Carpet. He worked hard on the carpet all day. We returned it later and drove around with the dogs. We stopped at Dairy Queen for ice cream!

Sunday was Father’s Day - so I took Steve to Echo Lake Cafe to celebrate. That took up a lot of the morning. That was pretty much the highlight. I talked to both my sisters also. We had some corn chowder and berries for supper.

Monday we did all the chores here and in town. We snacked for lunch. Later we made a fire and fixed potatoes in foil and hamburgers on the grill. The food sure tastes good when it’s cooked outside. We also had s’mores. Yum! The game warden was here and we tried to get him to have a s’more, but he said he was full. He has a new boat and he put out the no wake buoys.

Tuesday we headed up to Kalispell and made stops at Walgreens, FWP Office and Walmart. We got home about 1:30 PM and had a late lunch. Supper was just a snack. Wednesday it was overcast and not too hot. We collected trash on the road and also walked part of the loop road. Our boss called and said he would be out of town for 4 days.

June 24 - 30, 2021

On Thursday, I was able to talk to Hazel. They had just arrived at Bigfork and were able to snag a cottage at Bridge Street Cottages. They lucked into a cancellation! So we picked them up and took them to Rosa’s Pizza for supper. Then we drove to Wood’s Bay to the fishing access site and all around Bigfork. We saw lots of deer in town.

On Friday (25th), We were ready to head to town about 10:15 and two ladies on a golf cart stopped us and complained about the gate not being shut at night. We explained that it has not been shut at night for the last 3 summers while we have been hosting here. We listened and then gave them the phone number of our boss. Then we did our chores in town and picked up Linda and Hazel for lunch at the Echo Lake Cafe. After lunch we went to the RV for a few minutes. Then Steve & I took Buster to the vet and the girls went to unload their stuff at a tipi for the night’s accommodations.

When Buster was finished at the vet, we took him to the RV and then Steve and I picked up Hazel & Linda again and we were off on a big drive. We drove up through Columbia Falls to the Camas Road entrance to Glacier National Park.

We made a few stops for pictures and then stopped at Lake McDonald. We all got out and looked around. In addition, we got some ice cream. Yum! We drove the girls back to the tipi for the night and we got home about 9:00 PM. Saturday it was back to the routine things at Echo Lake. I put up a few decoration on the RV and took a nap.

Party below us

After our nap, the was a huge group of people with two shade tents right below our door. They finally left at 6:30 PM. Sunday was more of the same, chores, walk, monitor the activity. There were lots of people enjoying the lake today. Monday was also pretty routine. On Tuesday, we were up early because we wanted to do our chores before it got too hot. The high was 96 degrees today. We went to town and did our laundry and got home by 10:45. The boss called about the gate issue. We may need to start closing it at night. We did take a nap this afternoon and when we got up we found our surge protector and the end of our RV cord had burned. So we loaded up the dogs and went to Bish’s RV to get a new one. Steve fixed it when we got home and we ran our generator to get the RV cooled off. Today’s high was 96 degrees! On Wednesday it was another hot day!  it was 97 degrees at 6:25 PM. Too Hot for late June in Montana! Steve tried to work on the gate - but it doesn’t meet properly to lock it. He did some weed eating and I helped him for awhile. We watched some people moving in a dock system today - they had quite a little flotilla.

June 15 - June 21, 2019 Third week at Echo Lake

Saturday- June 15
Steve got up early and did some weed eating. Then I got up about 8 and we walked the dogs around the loop. We made a run to haul trash, get gas for the seedeater and fishing worms. It is free fishing weekend in Montana - so the guys tried their luck at fishing. They didn't catch anything, so we all rested. About 5:15 we started our fire and fixed supper. We had potatoes cooked in foil and smoked sausage. We walked the loop road again and later made S'mores. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather. The sunset was beautiful tonight.

Sunday - June 16 Father's Day
Steve did some more weed eating this morning. Then we had breakfast and walked the dogs. I helped Steve do some more weed eating. Today was a very busy day at Echo Lake. After lunch and taking a short nap we drove to town. We were going to have pizza to celebrate Father's Day - but they were closed. So we had hamburgers at Burgertown!  It was really great! If you are ever on the east side of Flathead Lake - near Bigfork - check out Burgertown. The burgers are Yum and the French Fries are just right!. We also washed the pickup while we were in town. It rained on the way home and most people had left the lake by the time we got back.

Monday - June 17
We completed and routine here at Echo Lake then went to Bigfork to check that fishing access. We hauled the trash and then stopped at Echo Lake Cafe for lunch (brunch). We sat outside with the dogs most of the afternoon. I did some bill paying and caught up Steve's checkbook. We walked part way around the loop road. The guys hauled and cut scrappy limbs to use for firewood for 2 or 3 hours.  I gave the dogs their heart worm pills then we watched TV.

Big Tree near grocery store in town

Logan sawing wood

Tuesday - June 18
We did the usual chores and Steve did more weed eating. The propane alarm went off before we took our walk and it scared us half to death! We found out it was 5 years old and basically expired. So we got around and went to Gardners Rv near Kalispell and picked up a new propane alarm at $94.00 Wow! Next we went to Walmart and bought a blackstone griddle and tons of other stuff! I wanted to check at Cabellas for a lounge chair (they didn't have one) so I bought 2 Life is Good T shirts. We also stopped at Snappy's to look for a chair - no luck.
When we got home about 4:45 PM we couldn't find the RV keys! Lucky I had a spare set! We put up the groceries and Steve installed the new propane alarm. I called all the places where we went in Kalispell to see if anyone had turned in any keys - No luck with that. We finished watching Yellowstone season one on DVD and are now ready to watch season 2 on TV.

Wednesday - June 19
We were up and around pretty good this morning. It was windy! Our old awning is tearing up worse. We picked up litter on the road above the entrance to Echo Lake. I called places about awning stuff. Logan has been chopping wood. Steve cleaned the fan and  fixed the water hydrant

. We retracted our awning so it wouldn't get worse. I fixed chili for supper and then we watched Yellowstone and Longmire. Kristi and Austyn are on their way up here, they got all the way to Fort Collins, CO today.

Thursday - June 20
It was 47 degrees this morning and also raining. We took our dogs out but didn't walk. I caught up the checkbook and we went to town and did laundry. Steve forgot his wallet so we started the clothes and then the guys went back to the RV to get his wallet and walk the dogs some more. We did laundry, hauled trash, checked the access, had lunch, stopped at the grocery and hardware store while we were in town. We walked the  between rain storms. We also put our phone number on the remainder of our keychains.

Interesting Clouds on Mountains

Friday - June 21
Today was cool and rainy again. We took a short walk after breakfast. Steve worked on the day/night shade by our desk. He also fixed the stove cover and the water hydrant. We walked around the loop and then watched Judge Judy. Kristi and Austyn arrived and we met them at Echo Lake Cafe. After they rested a bit we went to town and ate pizza. We showed them some of Bigfork and returned to the RV. Steve & Logan put up the awning again and made us a fire for S'mores. We sat out until 9:45. It got cool and rained more - so we turned in. Some guy came to the RV twice to use our phone to call for a ride .. Finally got to bed about 11 PM.
