Jan 16 - 31, 2024 Baby it's Still Cold!

This cold temperature is getting tiresome!

Jan 16-Tuesday-Today was just another routine cold day! 2° at 9;00 AM. Therefore -we didn’t do much. We did eat at La Macarena.

Jan 17-Wednesday-Our big accomplishment today was to change the sheets on our bed. I fixed Pot Roast with potatoes and carrots for supper.

Jan 18-Thursday-Today after we got around we went to Stillwater. Steve had an appointment with the primary care provider. Then we went to Walmart for our groceries and other supplies. We went to supper with Linda at La Macarena.

Jan19-Friday- Again it was cold so we stayed inside. At 2:00 PM it was only 21° but it felt like 8° with the wind chill. We ate leftovers for supper.

Jan 20-Saturday-The highlight of today was football. We watched the Baltimore Ravens beat the Texans and then Green Bay vs. San Francisco. I made Cajun Chicken/Potato skins for supper. They were good!

Jan 21-Sunday-Steve slept poorly and I encouraged him to return to bed. Later we watched the Lions beta Tampa Bay and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Bills. I like both the Bills and the Chiefs, so it was hard for me to decide who to root for. It was freezing rain and ice this evening. We are tired of winter already. Our supper was pizza.

Jan 22-Monday-We woke up to ICE! I cancelled my mammogram and rescheduled it for next Monday. We did get out to the Post office later. The darn OK Dept. of Public Safety cancelled Steve’s Drivers license. I had to reply to  them by email. You can not call them! I was so upset. No we have to wait or the-do that paperwork.

Jan 23-Tuesday-Steve cleaned the bathroom and I unloaded the dishwasher and took out the trash. I also worked on the blog. Our town (Perry) had a lot of water lines break (from the past week’s cold weather) and the water tower went almost empty. So everyone who lives here was supposed to conserve water. We complied with the request. But we never did lose water here.

Jan 24-Wednesday-Another routine day. We did listen to the Glacier Book Club over Zoom in the evening. I also made Ham & Beans with Cornbread for supper. Yum!

Jan 25-Thursday-Steve was busy cleaning some windows and high dusty places. I worked on the computer and did a few errands. Our dog Poopsie doesn’t feel good. We may be taking her to the vet.

Jan 26-Friday-We checked the mail at the post office and Steve’s Driver’s License is re-instate. I think the paperwork crossed in the mail. We also went to Homeland and the dollar store. Steve had an appointment at the VA at 3:00 PM and we arrived at 2:57. I guess we will leave earlier next time. When we finished  we drove to Yukon and met up with Kristi and John for supper at Texas Roadhouse. Austyn and Sky joined us.

Jan 27-Saturday-I was up with Poopsie until 2:30 AM. When we got up at 8:30, I called the vet and they said to bring her in. They have a walk in clinic on Saturday morning. They gave her some medicine and recommended crate rest for awhile (2-4 weeks). She is having some back issues or arthritis trouble. Anyway the meds helped her. And we are keeping her confined.

Jan 28-Sunday-Today we went to Walmart early and completed that chore. Later we watched the Chiefs beat the Ravens and the 49ers beat the Lions. Now the sup bowl teams are picked.  Chiefs vs 49ers.

Jan 29-Monday-Today we did laundry. After lunch we drove to Ponca City and I had my mammogram done. We stopped at the casino in Perry but we were not lucky. It didn’t take long for us to lose our $20.

This was the sky o our way home from Ponca City. Lovely.

Jan 30-Tuesday-We did a little more laundry. I worked on the computer. It was a pretty blah day. We had supper at La Macarena with Linda.

Jan 31-Wednesday-We did all the routine morning things. Then I helped Steve put up the new house number over our garage door. We worked on the coin collection. We collect pennies and some quarters. It is a work in progress. Just something to do with our extra change.

February 1 - 14, 2023 Making Our Way Through Winter

Wednesday 1st - I felt crummy when I woke up. A head cold has hit me. My first line of defense was resting under the electric blanket! Later I got dressed and helped Steve made the bed. After lunch I had PT.  Then I just rested most of the day. Oklahoma State beat OU  (our arch rival) in men's basketball. Yea! For supper we had steak and a baked potato. Thursday - This morning I had a sore throat when I woke up. So I took a Covid test and it was negative. After doing the regular chores we tried to figure out how to put iTunes on Steves phone. It was also time to pay some bills. After lunch we ran some errands around town, grocery store and drug store for cold supplies. Then it was back home doing more computer stuff. Tonight our  supper was chili! Friday - We were up at 8 AM and had breakfast. We left for the OKC VA by 9 AM. Steve had an appointment at 10:30. We completed that and got back home by 12:30. So the afternoon was spent relaxing and Steve worked on the computer more. Saturday - Today we did more computer work after breakfast. Also, the US Government shot down a Chinese Spy Balloon over the coast of S. Carolina. My sister saw some of the commotion because she and her husband were headed to Myrtle Beach for golf shoes. They spend winters at Pawleys Island and have for the last several years. Later Steve and I decided to go to Stillwater and buy a new computer. We think ours is just too out of date to get along with his phone. Sunday - It was a pretty routine day for us. We did pick up some groceries at Homeland and did a few other routine chores. I even took a short nap. Supper was Roast Beef, potatoes and carrots! Yum!

If you want to go to Glacier NP this summer - make sure to reserve your vehicle permit.

Me lifting my weight for shoulder PT. My Grandson sent me a video of him lifting a huge barbell - so I returned the favor and sent him this! LOL

Monday 6th - After we got around  I called ATT and requested a new modem. Ours does not seem to be sending wifi to the living room. We did laundry today and home PT. Tuesday - Today we just did pretty routine things including working on the computer. We talked to Tony Powell and told him it will be June 1 or 2 before we can arrive at Echo Lake for our summer volunteer job. We can not leave until after Logan's Graduation (20th May) and Kristi and John's Wedding (26th May). I had Physical Therapy after lunch. Then I renewed our roadside assistance and Good Sam. We had supper at La Macarena with Linda, Hazel, and Stetson. The gang was all there. Wednesday - Today I worked on the blog some. It seems easy to put off when we aren't doing anything very exciting. It was rainy today. I went to Physical Therapy and they are having me do more exercises. I am really happy I got a new shoulder. We also made the trip to Stillwater Walmart Market for groceries. Thursday - Today the girl from the Best Buy Geek Squad came to the house and brought our computer and installed it. We got a Dell All in One. That took up most of the morning. After lunch we chilled for awhile. We were able to access email on the new computer. Friday - Steve worked on iTunes and now can't find the music on the new computer. We still have the music on a thumb drive and the old computer. I went to PT. Then I went shopping for a birthday present for Linda. I picked up Steve and we took Linda her birthday present. We tried to get the old printer to work with the new computer and that didn't work. Even after we downloaded drivers, etc! This new computer is beginning to be a pain! Steve and I went to La Macarena for supper to drown our sorrows. LOL SaturdayI was able to finish a blog post today. We also did some errands. Oklahoma State won their men's basketball game! Woo Hoo! We took our dogs on a short walk and then watched a movie. Sunday - We did routine morning things and home PT. Soon it was time to watch the Super Bowl. It was a great game and Kansas City won. We ate pizza fixed at home for supper!

Monday 11th - Mornings continue to be routine. We did laundry today and worked on the computer. We picked up the mail and went  to the bank and Foster (drug store) and Homeland. So we made several stops around town today. We also did our bank reconciliations today. Tonight I attended book club again. We discussed our book and decided on the next book to read. I enjoy book club! Tuesday 14th - Happy Valentine's Day! I got up and Steve had flowers and a home made card for me. I only had a card for him. But we agreed that we will continue to be each other's valentines! As we were sitting around we got a phone call from Kristi. She said Logan's Explorer wont start. He was able to get from the gym to school by catching a ride. So we loaded some tools and drove to El Reno so Steve could try to get his vehicle running. We were able to pick up the keys from him at school, then we went to the football field parking lot where it was parked. Steve started testing the starter. It would not start consistently. Then he took the starter off and had it tested at Auto Zone. They said it was OK. So back to the vehicle to put it on. More testing - still not starting consistently. Back to Auto Zone to get a new starter. Steve worked his tail off trying to install it - no luck. We went all around town trying to find some different bolts. We finally found some and back to the vehicle to try to install the starter. It was getting close to dark and Steve said, "Let's go back to Auto Zone and compare this new starter with the old starter." Sure enough, they sold us the wrong starter! Wow! What a waste of time and energy. By that time, he was pooped and we decided to quit for the day and return tomorrow. We took Kristi and John for supper at Swadley's in El Reno. We also saw Logan again because that is where he works. We got home about 9:00 PM.  Also while we were driving to El Reno,(in th AM), our boss from Montana texted me and asked if I could put an ad on Facebook to try to get a volunteer workamper for Echo Lake for the month of May. So I also worked on that while we were driving down there. We did tell him there would be a lot of trouble if they try to over stay. We like our gig at Echo Lake and Love the setting! So we don't want someone to get our volunteer job.

My Valentine present and flowers.

I saw this on Facebook and thought it was a great sentiment.

Logan - Our Grandson who is a Senior this year! Where did the time go?

January 2020 - A New Decade

We started the new year off with a big glitch from AT & T- the house phone, internet and cell phones were not working! Anyway we survived without them for awhile. They finally started working about 3:00. But the cell phone came back to life before that. I started out the New Year playing cards with Linda, Hazel and Wayne - while Steve worked on organizing his tools in the garage. Hazel & Wayne beat us by 1 game: 5-4 in 10 point pitch.  After I got home I fixed black-eyed peas and burgers for supper.  On Thursday the 2nd  I went to Enid and visited with my sister Pam. We ate lunch at City Sidewalk Cafe then did some shopping.  Friday we looked into the RV heater and found how to get it ready for  re-install. We also took some items to the dump! The icemaker in the refrigerator finally quit and so we also let the dogs ride with us to Ponca City, where we got a new one! Saturday we took down our Christmas tree and  I also helped Steve clean out the ducts in the RV. Sunday we tried to finish getting the RV heater re-installed, but had a problem. We also did a little cleanup in the house and watched Football.
Monday, the 6th we went to OKC to the VA to the wound clinic to get Steve's finger checked. But by this time - I had it looking pretty good and almost healed. It is well now! We went to Camping World and checked about getting a new awning.  They said come back Thursday, so a technician could look at it and make sure we are getting the correct thing. We want an awning that is electric and we currently have a manual one - so have to make sure the power one will work.
Beautiful day today!

Tuesday we were at Stillwater for WW and Walmart. We also enjoyed supper at La Mac with Hazel and Linda. Wednesday we were actually able to finishing installing the RV heater and everything went pretty smooth. Thursday we drove the RV to OKC so Camping World could give us an estimate on the awning and installation.  It was a beautiful day! We got home in time to take down our outside Christmas lights and also renewed the tags for the Pickup and RV.  Friday was a slow day - but we did talk to Tony Powell and confirmed with him that we would return to Echo Lake this summer for our volunteer gig. Saturday brought a little snow and COLD temps-20 degrees!
Snow - light
We stayed inside and watched football and did accounting. Sunday was also a take it easy day along with football!
Monday the 13th we went to Stillwater VA for an appointment with Steve's primary care. All is well. We also registered for the FMCA Rally in Tucson, which takes place the latter part of March. We haven't been to one of these before - so this will be an experience! Tuesday was WW and Walmart at Stillwater.

We were ready to leave and saw all these turkeys at the house next door to us!  They were just milling around in town.

When we stay home, we don't get very many clothes dirty, so instead of doing all our laundry on Monday - sometimes we just do it when necessary!  We are also dealing with Tri West to schedule some more back injections for Steve. What fun! The injections helped him though, so we want to get them done again. I did a check-in with Dermatology at Stillwater on Wednesday - and that is also good. They were very efficient!
I thinks that about wraps it up for the first half of January!

Brrr... It's Been Cold Jan 9 - Jan 24, 2019

January has been cold or perhaps I've just noticed it more. Since I don't have to go to work anymore, I guess I pay hyper attention to the cold weather.  We have been working on cleaning out our closet (check) and dresser drawers here at home.
On Wednesday, the 9th we were able to walk at CCC Lake with the dogs. In addition, we heard from the manager at Fish, Wildlife & Parks in Montana this day. He wanted to know if we wanted to return to Echo Lake this summer and we said YES!
Most of the days are somewhat routine. Thursday I was online with Amazon about the pickup backup camera, we walked at the YMCA and did a little laundry. Friday, we cleaned out another hall closet, went to the grocery store. It has been in the 40's , overcast and dreary the last two days. I much prefer sunshine! The new backup camera arrived and it does not have the gridlines! This will give Steve something to work on when the weather is a little nicer.
Saturday was routine, except I missed going to the YMCA because they close at 2:00 PM instead of staying open all day. So,  now I know. We watched Dallas lose to the LA Rams and OkState win their basketball game!
Sunday we went to Walmart for groceries and supplies then watched football. Monday was routine stuff again plus making sure we mailed an affidavit to the VA and I also dissolved my LLC for my Dietitian Consulting business. We walked at the YMCA again. It was sunny today - so   I helped Steve work on his backup camera, even though it was only 40 degrees outside. If you dress warm, it helps!
Tuesday,  I had a long conversation with Janette about RVing and wonkamping. She and Bob are interested in doing this at some point.  Steve finished connecting his backup camera and was pleased with the results. We went to La Macarena for supper without Linda and Hazel - cause Linda is going to basketball games with her kids and Hazel is busy with something.  Wednesday  was nothing special - just more of the same.
Thursday the 17 th -After going to the YMCA we drove up to Tonkawa and went to the casino!  We joined their player's club and had some good luck  - we think we came out ahead some.
On Friday the 18th we wished Irene (Steve's Sister) and Anthony (my nephew) a Happy Birthday.  We watched some RV videos on You Tube - about the RTR, Phoenix Ramblers, Grand Adventure. And sometime in the last week we watched RV Nomads movie. These are keeping us entertained until we get to leave in the spring!
Saturday the 19th rolled around and again it was cold, 35 with a wind chill of 26 degrees. We got dressed up today to attend a friend's 50th wedding anniversary party in Ponca City.  It was held at the Marland Mansion in Ponca City.  This is a mansion built by one of Oklahoma's early governors who got rich in the oil fields. Then he lost money and had a rather sad life later.  If you are ever in Northern Oklahoma, it is a great place to tour and he has another mansion in town that is a museum also. We attended the party and left about an hour later because big parties where I know very few people are not my thing. But it was great to see my friends, Cecelia & Don and help them celebrate their 50th anniversary. It was also nice to see their kids! They have a great family.  Sunday brought more football: LA Rams beat the Saints in OT and the Patriots beat the Chiefs in OT. I was rooting for the Saints and the Chiefs, neither won. If you have a favorite team, maybe I should not root for them!
So this week - Monday was a holiday, Tuesday was routine - except Steve & I did go eat at La Mac without Linda and Hazel again! It was Rainy, cold and drizzly on Tuesday.
Wednesday the 23rd, we went to Stillwater to the VA for Steve's appointment.  Thursday, we took the RV to Camping world in OKC to check out our basement air conditioner. We had it installed last year in Montana and we wanted to make sure it was wired correctly. Sometimes it doesn't seem that the second compressor kicks in. Steve also got the oil changed in the pickup  and we watched Project Blue Book - about the UFO study project.  So this catches me up for awhile.  Hopefully we will have some adventures to report on soon.

December, The Holiday Month

On the 1st of December, a Friday - we got to stay home.  Steve put a pump in the ice maker and we caught up with our bookkeeping and bill paying. My sister Nancy was transferred to Select Specialty Hospital in OKC - a Long Term Acute Hospital.  Saturday, we decided the pump on the ice maker was not working so we went to Stillwater. At Lowe's, we bought a new ice maker and  a garbage disposal. In addition, we went shopping with stops at Best Buy, Academy Outdoors, Schlotzky's for lunch and Walmart. This pretty much did us in!
Sunday, when I called Nancy, she told me they took out her feeding tube and she had a low heart rate about 3:30 AM.  Steve & I whiled away our day watching Football and paying a few more bills. On Monday the 4th, I went to work again. It was actually kind of nice to go to work and do something different. Tuesday, we got up early and went to the VA in OKC for Steve's annual appointment with the SCI clinic. This is the door decoration made by the SCI clinic Nurses - It is a bedpan and urinal bottles to make a reindeer head! CUTE!

Then we visited Nancy at her hospital. We had lunch at Panera Bread and then returned home. We had our usual supper with Linda & Hazel at La Macarena. Wednesday's chores included getting a new tag for my car mailing Christmas cards to Steve's sisters and making a batch of chili. Nancy had more progress in her recovery. Thursday we went back to Stillwater to Lowe's and got a different ice maker - the 1st one didn't work. We also got some stuff to work on the front door - because it doesn't close tight and of course we went to Walmart to pick up medicine and other stuff. Friday we returned to OKC to the VA for another appointment and visited Nancy, then we returned home to rest.
Saturday and Sunday were kind of lazy days, we watched football, napped, cooked and walked around the square. Steve installed the new Garbage Disposal.
When Monday rolled around, I returned to work and Steve worked on the front door plus he did laundry and vacuumed the floor. Tuesday we went back to Lowe's for more stuff to fix the front door, then we ate lunch at Schlotzkys and did a round at Walmart.  We ate supper at La Macarena with Hazel - Linda had a program to go to so did not eat with us. Wednesday we had to go back to Stillwater and get a different doorknob kit at Lowe's! Yes again - many trips to Lowe's for these items we needed to repair stuff around here. I mailed out Christmas Cards and a gift card to my sister, Marsha. On Thursday, I got up a little earlier than usual and went to Thorn's (a flower & gift shop) here in Perry - for their 50% off sale. Boy we did good - lots of presents bought at half price! We got our Christmas Tree up and decorated. I made Orange Chicken for supper and also checked in on my sister Nancy.

Friday was busy wrapping presents! After that we did our bank statements and I started going through my picture/card drawer. I want to figure out some way to organize them.

Saturday we went to OKC/Yukon and did some more Christmas Shopping and attended Austyn's Dance Recital.

We also went by and visited my sister.
Sunday we watched Football, did laundry and caught up our bookkeeping again. ( I think I see a pattern here! LOL)
Monday the 18th I returned to work and then came home and napped. Tuesday, I slept in and then worked out the Christmas Menu and grocery shopping list! Another chore. I re-typed my Christmas Address labels on the correct template to match my labels. I ordered a couple more things from Amazon! I was happy because we found my electronic picture frame - now I can load some pictures on it and watch them more frequently. We did clean out some of the cabinets in the kitchen and got rid of some junk!  Progress is great. We also ate supper at La Macarena with Linda and Hazel and exchanged presents!
Now the Blog is caught up for awhile! Yea!
Picture of me and my sisters (taken about 18 years ago)!

This is my Mom, who we lost in 2002. This was taken when she turned 80.

Sometimes the Holidays make us a little melancholy when we remember our loved ones who have passed on before us.
