July 16-31, 2024 The Dog Days of Summer

Another pretty sunset

16-Tue-Another routine day. We did gather the trash and haul it off when we went to town to do the laundry.

17-Wed-This morning we dumped the tanks. Then we were off to Kalispell to the UPS store to pick up the parts for the step. We also went to Auto Zone, and Corwin Chevrolet. At Corwin Chevy we ordered the pickup part we needed. Then we got gas and went to Walmart. When we got home we unloaded our stuff and had lunch . Sydney was by and stayed about 45 minutes. It was 92° at 5:00 PM. We try to complete most of our chores and errands in the morning, then stay in where it is cool in the afternoon.

18-Thu-Steve replaced the step motor and gear today. Sydney drove through but didn’t stop. It was a pretty routine day.

19-Fri-We were up at 7:00 today. After our regular chores we did some mowing and weed eating. Then we had cooling showers and lunch. We monitored the lot from time to time.

More boat envy

More sunset pictures

20-Sat-It has been hot here. So we finally added the sun screen to the awning. That helps keep the setting sun from beating down on  the RV and making it too hot!. Sydney came by and so did Tony. One of the boat education volunteers, Sara was here. A DNRC fire truck drove through about 4 PM. We have had some smoke drift in from fires in the area.

This is the sunshade we attach to the awning

This deer hung out around the fishing access site for about an hour.

21-Sun-We sat outside from 11:30 - 1:00 today about the same as yesterday. Then we went inside for lunch. Sara and Marc (boat education volunteers) were here  and I visited with them.

This looks like a two headed squirrel- but it is two very close together.

Someone made potholes in the parking lot. We filled them in as best as we could.

The deer came back today.

Mary & Steve in volunteer work mode!

22-Mon-We went to town this morning. On our way we hauled off our trash. Then we went to the post office to mail packages to our grandkids. We had a nice lunch back at the RV, a pork chop, rice and salad. I received a scam text message about a package - so we went back to town to check with the post office. It was definitely a scam.

Smoke is in the air

A couch to tow behind your boat. Never claimed!

23-Tue-We are in the dog days of summer now. We do our thing in the morning and then try to stay inside the RV when the temperature heats up. We did go to Kalispell to get the part for the pickup air conditioner fan and go to Walmart. The afternoon was spent taking it easy. It was 94° at 5:30.

24-Wed-A log had been put on the dock. We moved it off. Some other guys helped us get it out of the way. More stuff floated over a floating couch and another float along with a lily pad. we moved them up by the RV. We are hoping someone will claim them. I put them on next-door. I did bill paying and checkbook balancing. Again it was another hot day 93° at 5:00 PM.

Log to get removed from dock

Austyn got her birthday present

25-Thu-We had some rain this morning. Steve has been working on the pickup fan. Tony P was here and I heated up his lunch, then we visited awhile. It was windy this afternoon and not too busy.

26-Fri-The weather was a little cooler this morning. We did chores and walked. Steve worked on the pickup some more. After lunch we went to the grocery store in town (Bigfork) for some items we missed. We monitored the lot and putzed around this afternoon.  Supper was taco salad and dessert was berries.

27-Sat-Pretty much a routine morning. We monitored the lot. We ate leftovers for lunch. The boat volunteers were here so, I visited with them. We monitored the lot and the dock. I had to run some folks off the dock. Our boss called about 6:30 to see how it was going and check to see if we had a wind storm. We ate Hashbrown/Hamburger casserole for supper.

Fireweed. I am amazed this grows out of rocks.

28-Sun-Today we sat outside from 11:45 until 1;00 PM. We had another boat volunteer here. There was a rain shower today. We had a video call with Kristi and Mariana. Maybe a short nap was taken.

I was picking trash and I glanced up and saw this monstrous fish! Sturgeon. Looks like it came from the dark ages!

People enjoying the lake

floaties

These are called efoils. I call them electric surfboards. They are not cheap. I have no idea how he does not fall off!

29-Mon-Today’s big adventure was going to town for a hairdo. My hair was driving me crazy, so I needed a cut. Steve also got a haircut with the barber. The barber and beauty shop are in the same building, so that makes it handy.

New harido

30-Tue-We were up a little later than usual. It rained and so we cut the walk short. Buster’s leash broke but he didn’t run away. He stayed right with us. We sorted out our leashes and got rid of some and kept others. The we loaded the laundry and went to Bigfork to take care of that. We got home about 1:45 and had a late lunch. Supper was Peanut Butter and bread along with Berries. We had a short electrical outage. It was caused by an Osprey nest!

31-Wed-Today is Austyn’s (granddaughter) birthday. So we called to wish her a Happy Birthday. Then we went to Kalispell to Corwin motors for the fan module. We found out that it has been discontinued. So we will have to try to locate it on Amazon I guess. We also went to Walmart. We got back to the RV and put away our groceries and had lunch. Sydney was here about 45 minutes to an hour. I gave her our timesheets. Supper was a Turkey cheese burger/Bun and Berries with some chips thrown in for good measure.
