Klinger Musings: March 1 - 15, 2026 Making Preparations and Heading to South Carolina

1-Sun-Around here, Sundays are for taking it easy. We got up and had breakfast and watched some TV. The we slowly slipped into the day. We made our bed and putzed around most of the day. We did take the dogs on a short walk. We had turkey burgers and fries for supper.

2-Mon-Well I got up a little later today, about 9, on the other hand, Steve was up at 5:30. We started out by watching a little TV and then we made our bed got dressed and started the laundry. We had the bright idea to change the bookshelf and small desk in the computer room. First we had to re-do the floor mats which was not easy. Then I sorted stuff to put back on the book case. We did some shredding also. For supper I fixed pork chops, brown rice and mixed veggies.

3-Tue-We were up about 8 ish this morning. We had breakfast and then I got dressed and fixed my hair. I ran some errands around town. I went to Thorn’s and stopped by Linda’s beauty shop. Then I got the mail and went into homeland. Gas is up 20-30 cents per gallon! Steve and I ate Fajitas at La Macarena.

4-Wed-We were up at 7:30 this morning. We watched one tv show then made our bed and got around. We loaded up the computer and went to Best Buy at Stillwater. Steve wanted to get some help with his pictures from the Geek Squad. We also did our grocery shopping at Walmart. Then we got home and put away our stuff. For supper I made chicken parmesan, couscous and salad.

5-Thu-We putzed around this morning and watched TV. Then we made the bed and got dressed. I talked with AT & T and got rid of our home phone. We have to get internet Air soon. We returned to Stillwater and ate at the Texas Roadhouse with Linda and Hazel.

6-Fri-I got up at 8:15. We had breakfast and watched some TV. Then we got dressed and made the bed. I went to Linda’s for a short visit. Then I drove by Hazel’s to deliver her birthday present early. When I got home I worked on our S. Carolina route. We also got stuff together for our taxes. We worked with the RV GPS again also. For supper I made eggs, Canadian bacon, and then we had berries.

7-Sat-We got up a little after 8 and had our breakfast. We watched Lottery Dream Home. Then it was time to go to H & R Block. We are so lucky. We don’t owe any taxes. Yea! I worked on the computer doing mundane things (blog and work with GPS) . Steve’s new Oboz shoes arrived. Yea! He will have them before we leave for S. Carolina. Supper was chicken nuggets, French fries, salad and berries.

8-Sun-We had a busy day today. First of all we fixed all the clocks for Daylight Savings time. Then we went to Oklahoma City. We went to REI and returned the shoes Steve bought there. Then we went to Dillards, I did not find anything I wanted. Our next stop was Costco, where we bought some groceries and redeemed our rewards certificate. We got home and checked the weather. Then we finished our day with TV. Supper was cube steak, french fries, veggies and berries.

9-Mon-I was up late today. After breakfast and a little TV, we got around. I stared carrying things to the RV. I figured out what clothes I want to take to S. Carolina. For supper I made us a hamburger and we had beans for our side dish. We also had berries later.

10-Tue-I was up at 8:00 this morning. After breakfast we made the bed and got dressed. We left at 9:45 for Stillwater. Steve had to pickup up his orthotics and shoes. Then we stopped at Walmart for a few things. We got home and had lunch. Then we started loading the RV. We made many trips with some rest in between. We ate supper at La Macarena with Linda. Today we got the bedroom slide stuck.! Bummer!

11-Wed-We were up at 7:45 We had breakfast and got dressed. Then we were in the RV and Steve took the bed apart and we moved all kinds of stuff while he tried to fix the RV slide. That lasted til noon. Then we called a mobil mechanic and he gave suggestion to Steve and we finally got the slide in. He pushed some button on the solenoid in the engine compartment area and the slide went in. After that, we took a break because later Steve had to work his butt off putting everything back together. We got the slide jammed up with the carport and ended up tearing our slide topper even more. That will need to be replaced sometime. But it was already very old and worn. It was windy all day. It was a very rough day. At one point I was just about ready to cancel our trip to S. Carolina. For supper we had chicken nuggets, french fries, green beans and berries.

12-Thu-It was 28 ° when we got up this morning. We were up at 7:30. We had our breakfast and made the bed and got dressed. Then we finished loading the RV. We got the RV backed out of the driveway and went to the parking lot to add the tow bar and hook up the pickup. Our next stop was to get gas. Then we drove to OKC to have J &B B Mobile check on our slide. He thinks we just need new house batteries. We didn’t realize our house batteries were 5 years old! He did not charge us anything, but Steve gave him $40 cash. He suggested we stop at RV Roof Oklahoma to make an appointment to have them check the slide out in case there is a short. So we made an appointment for when we return. Then we were on our way. We drove to Ozark Arkansas and gassed up the RV. We drove on to Conway Arkansas and stayed at Beaverfork Lake RV Resort. Our stay was booked by telephone and hardly any human contact. Which seemed so weird to me. We had turnkey bacon and eggs, toast and berries for supper in the RV. This was a new park with cement pads, nice! They also have a corn hole miniature golf course. I have never seen that before. Also we are not using the slide. So I am just having to crawl over Steve if/when I have to get up in the night to go to the bathroom! FUN!

13-Fri-We were up at 8:00 AM. We had our breakfast then got around. We walked the dogs and disconnected the utilities. The right rear jack would not go up! That delayed us an hour! We got on I-40 and went through Memphis and then on to I-22. We stopped at a rest stop before Memphis (Forest City, AR) and Steve took a nap. Then we were back on the road and made it to Hamilton, AL. We stayed at Turkey Hill RV Park and Campground. We were in the hills of Alabama. We saw some huge houses as we rolled into the RV Park. It was a little difficult to get level. For supper we had frozen pizzas, and ate our berries for dessert.

14-Sat-We were up at 8:30. Then we had breakfast, dressed and walked the dogs. We tried to make the bed, but it is difficult with the slide not going in and out. We tried to get in at the Loves in Hamilton, AL to get propane, but there was no room. It was absolutely packed with travelers! I guess I should remember not to travel on Saturday. Maybe the traffic is due to spring break. We moved on east through Birmingham, AL and found a Love’s at Jasper, AL where we were able to get gas. Also Steve needed some Allen wrenches. He forgot his at home and needed to tighten something on the driver’s side mirror. Next we made our way through Atlanta, GA. It was very busy and the travel through was slow! Next I had a hard time trying to find a site at Augusta, GA where we stayed last year. I finally was able to book a site at Peach Orchard RV Park. This was mainly a residential RV park. But we were glad to have a spot to stay. We ate bacon and eggs again! We have reservations at Huntington Beach State Park for the 15th-22 nd. That is why we are pushing hard to get there.

15-Sun-we were up about 8. We had our breakfast and got dressed. Then we walked the dogs and fixed the bed. We disconnected our electricity and water. We made a stop at Walmart in Augusta to check for RV batteries. We did not have any luck. They did not have what we needed. This delayed our leaving. We did not get on the road til about 11:30. We finally got going and routed through Sumter, SC, then on to Georgetown, SC and then Huntington Beach State park. We arrived about 5:00 PM and check into our site. We got parked and set up and walked our dogs. I fixed chicken meatballs, rice and veggies for supper. We will try to get our batteries tomorrow morning
