25-Fri-Well we got going again this morning. We are headed to Bartlesville to see my sister Pam and her husband JC. We arrived about 1:30 and stayed til 4:30. It was about 6:45 when we got home. We stopped at Subway and got a sandwich. We have been keeping the road hot.

26-Sat-Today we relaxed most of the day. We were tired from all our short trips this week. We had breakfast for supper. Yum.

They took her to the ER in Bartlesville. the doctor actually ordered a CT scan and they have discovered that in addition to her dementia she has cancer in her kidneys, liver and lungs. This explains why she has been hurting so much. I am so sad for my big sister. This will be hard. Supper was chicken parmesan, couscous, salad and berries.

My peony bloomed!

28-Mon-We were up about 7:30. We did some routine things around the house and worked on laundry. I mowed the front yard. We went home for lunch and this afternoon we paid some bills and caught up quicken. I called my niece, Paige and wished her a Happy Birthday. They are on their way to Mayo in Rochester, MN for her son Landon. He has had extreme problems with migraines for the last year or so.

April 1 - 15, 2024 Eclipse! Preparations for Trip and Other Things

April 1-Monday-Well it is laundry day again. We also worked on the quarter coin collection. It rained today and later we had some thunderstorms.

April 2 -Tuesday-After our morning routines were complete we got dressed. Then we were off to Stillwater. We made stops at Walgreen’s, Ulta, and Walmart Market. We got home and put away all our stuff. We ate at la Macarena with Hazel. Linda didn’t join us because she went home early.

April 3-Wednesday-There wasn’t too much to report today. I think we just did routine things and did a little bookkeeping.

April 4-Thursday-We met with the funeral home guy this morning. He gave us some papers to fill out. The paper has family info and how you want your service carried out. After lunch we took our dogs to the vet for their yearly checkup. We ate supper at La Macarena again - but with Linda tonight.

April 5-Friday-We got around pretty good this morning. I mowed the from yard while Steve pulled weeds. He also did weed eating behind the back fence. We sprayed weed kill on the north side of the fence. Then we rested in the afternoon.

April 6-Saturday-It was a very Windy day today! So mostly we did inside things today. We watched some TV and did some shopping in Perry.

April 7-Sunday-Pretty much a routine day. I did some bill paying and caught up our bookkeeping in Quicken. We watched a bear presentation on You Tube. I think it was put on by Glacier Conservancy, but not sure. We also watched basketball and worked on funeral paperwork,

April 8-Monday-We got around and went back to the funeral home to pay for our pre-paid funeral plan. What fun! We are doing this so our relatives don’t have to do it if something unexpected happens. We have had an unexpected death in the family for the last 3 years. None of them had made any funeral plans. So we are planning ahead. We were able to enjoy the solar eclipse also. I had ordered us eclipse glasses and we got a fairly nice showing. Also it was laundry day! Laundry isn’t too big a problem for us. It is usually only 2-3 loads per week.

April 9-Tuesday-We were up at 7:00 AM. After getting around we left for Oklahoma City at 8:00 AM. We arrived at 9:10. We went to the 3rd floor to wait. Steve had nerve ablation on his back. After the procedure was over his right leg was numb (they said this happens) and so we went to the 7th floor for him to wait and be observed for about 30 - 40 minutes. We got home in time for lunch. Steve fixed something on the battery again. We went to supper with Linda at LaMacarena.

Neighbors getting a whole new driveway

Pretty sky!

April 10-Wednesday-We finished our routine things and headed out to Walmart. We got back home in good time and had lunch. Steve hurt his back a little bending to put something up in the refrigerator. I made him rest!

April 11-Thursday-Today we went to the bank and put our coins that do not fit the book criteria and cashed them in. You don’t have to roll your coins anymore - you just put them in a machine and it counts them. We had $146.68 in change. We did not turn in $35.00 in quarters, we are saving them for laundry this summer!

April 12-Friday-We made a trip back to Stillwater today. I had a dermatology appointment. The lady found some wisdom (age) spots and she froze them! Wow! Not too painful! I stopped in at Walmart to look at some cheap jeans - they are not even hemmed. I bought them, thinking I could hem them. But saved the receipt. When I tried them on at home - I did not like them. Returning. I also had to pick up the dermatology meds. Then it was back home and I also mowed the yard.

April 13-Saturday-We did odds and ends today. I helped Steve with some weed spraying in the ditch behind our house. Then he fixed the light switch on his pickup topper. We also did our bank statements. Does anyone else do these? I still reconcile my account the old-fashioned way every now and then. We also reconcile on Quicken.

The infamous ditch after clean-up

April 14-Sunday-We did routine things and walked. Then I filled out a travel claim for Steve’s VA appointment earlier this week. We also did some laundry and mowed the back yard. We checked to see if the phone would play music in the RV with the new dongle connection I had to order to work with the iPhone 15. It worked! Yea!

We hit 91 ° today!

April 15-Monday-We were up and around. We walked this morning and then got ready to go to the VA. Steve had 2 appointments today. We left at 11:30 and got them in plenty of time for SCI and the other appointment. Steve also had some lab work done. We were on our way out and I saw a guy who used to work at the hospital in Enid with me. It was Thomas. We visited about 20 minutes. He is young - maybe 30 - so it was good to know he has a good job with benefits. I told him to stick with the VA- it’s a good job. Then we drove to Kristi’s. We were going to take Logan, Cielo, and baby along with Kristi and John out to supper. We ate at Texas Roadhouse to celebrate Logan’s 19th birthday! Wow these kids are growing up!

We  loaded up both our dogs and took them to the vet for their annual checkup. When they got home - they rested and didn't feel great. I guess those shots make them lethargic. We ate supper at La Macarena and it was yummy as usual. Wednesday - 5th - It was 39° this morning. Steve had an appointment at Stillwater to see an orthopedic doctor about his hip. He was seen through the Community Care program through the VA. The doctor said his hip was good. He does not need a hip replacement. Then we were off to Walmart Market to shop for groceries. We had lunch at home after unloading the supplies. Steve went back to work on the music. I talked to my sister, Marsha. Also, Tony Powell texted us to see if we had any tornados in our area. We were lucky and did not have tornadoes here. Thursday 6th - We had pretty routine stuff today. We did take our RV Engine battery to O'Reilly's to check it. They said it is OK and just need more charging. So we put it on the battery charger at home. I am also still doing home PT for my shoulder. Friday - 7th - Today we did errands around town. We picked up some plastic Easter eggs, candy and cash. We decided we would make up an Easter egg hunt for the grown grandkids. About 5 PM Logan called us and  he got his vehicle totaled avoiding a wreck! He was safe but his vehicle is scrap now. I made chicken enchiladas tonight. They were good.

Saturday - 8th- We did our usual morning routine. Then we did some yard work. I mowed and Steve did weeds.  After lunch we stuffed the plastic eggs with cash and candy. Then we straightened the kitchen and did a few other chores. Sunday 9th - Easter. I was up at 8:00 and put the turkey breast in the oven to cook. The kids arrived about 9:30 or 10:00 AM and we hid the eggs so the young adults could hunt them. It was fun and they were happy with the cash and candy in their eggs. We fixed the rest of our Easter Dinner and ate. The best part was Angel Food Cake with fresh Strawberries and Strawberry Ice Cream! Then we sat around and relaxed. They all had to go home  because they work! Logan is borrowing my car - since his got wrecked.

Logan, Austyn, Sky

We were home by  10:30 and worked on laundry. We worked on the computer this afternoon. Tuesday 11th - Today after breakfast I did my home PT and putzed around. In the afternoon I helped Steve on the computer with the music. I skipped Book Club tonight and we went to Logan's soccer game at Guthrie. We were able to eat early with Hazel and Linda at La Macarena.

Logan, Soccer at Guthrie

Wednesday 12th - We were up early again. After we had our breakfast we got the RV out and drove it to Stillwater for four new back tires. I led the procession in the pickup. Our first order of business after dropping off the RV was to get Steve a new white shirt for the wedding and some dressy shoes for me. After that, we hung out at Boomer Lake until the RV was ready to go. We picked up the RV about Noon and headed back home. The afternoon was spent hanging out and relaxing.

New shoes for the Wedding

Thursday 13th - Today we took the RV to get the oil changed. Then we went to the car wash and Steve washed the RV. Our afternoon was spent taking it easy. Friday 14th - We were up in fairly good time today. After our routine morning things I completed my home PT. About 3:30 we left for Yukon and then on to El Reno. It was Senior  Night for soccer and so we wanted to be there and watch Logan get recognized. The game was over about 8:45 and we all went to Hideaway pizza for a late supper. April 11 - 30, 2022 Routine Chores, Trip Preparation and A Shock!

April started out like most months, with the exception that we are doing lots of things to prepare for our summer trip. the month ended up in a shock. Monday (11th) Today I went to the Eye doctor and got my contacts ordered and returned home. Steve was working on our old lawnmower. We need to get a new one but he sure likes to fix things up. We completed the laundry today and also made a trip to Stillwater to get some of my meds. We visited with Stetson and Hazel about mowing the yard this summer (Stetson). Tuesday (12th) Today we went to Linda’s and I got a perm. The hairdo was in some jeopardy though because  the wind was really getting after it!  Then we joined Hazel and Linda for supper at La Macarena. Wednesday (13th) was another routine day. We completed our bank statements this morning. Then later we mowed the front yard We also leveled the spots where the trees used to be and planted grass seed in the bare areas. I let Cooper know that Stetson would be mowing our yard this summer.

Thursday (14th) Today we got around and then went to Stillwater to drop off the RV at Direct Discount Tires. They put new tires on the front of the RV.  Since we were in the neighborhood we visited with Hazel in the hospital. Then they called and said the RV was finished, so we picked it up and got our groceries at Walmart. Friday (15th)  Today we went to Oklahoma City for an appointment for Steve. We had a nice lunch at Red Lobster and used our gift card. Since we had a late lunch we just ate snacks for supper.  Saturday (16th) Today we got dressed and drove to OKC. We met Logan, and his girlfriend, along with Kristi and John for lunch at Texas Roadhouse.  We celebrated Logan’s 17th birthday. Steve and I also went to Cabela’s and I got a jacket to wear in rain and cool weather. Sunday (17th) Today was Easter and we didn’t do much. I slept poorly last night, so I tried to make up for it today. Other than that, we did some bookkeeping and had a nice walk. Monday (18th) We did a routine things  today. But we also worked on sorting quarters and putting them in their collection books.Later we walked and took the RV out for a drive so Steve could adjust the steering stabilizer. Tuesday (19th) I went to Linda’s for hair color today! Then we were back home taking it easy and putzing around.

Wednesday (20th) After we got going. I mowed the front yard and Steve did some weed eating. He also worked on organizing his little shed. It got up to 89

degrees here today and so the weather is starting to heat up! Thursday (21st) I didn't sleep good last night but I was up and around at 8:30 to go to my doctor's appointment in Ponca City. I discussed getting a 4th shot (for Covid) and he said get it. So that is the plan. Steve & I went to Lowes and got some flowers and a lawn edger attachment. After we got home we planted our flowers and watered the yard. Friday (22nd) We did our walk in the morning today. Then I picked up my contacts and the mail. We got our 2nd booster shots at Fosters drug store and checked out our vehicle insurance. Later we watched a two hour program on Covid and MS. Saturday (23rd) We didn't do much today, just putzed around. I think we were experiencing a little after effect from our vaccination.

Sunday (24th) After our morning routine we dressed and went outside. After lunch, Steve decided to rotate the tires on the pickup. So we carefully completed that task and I help. Also I was on standby in case anything went wrong I could call 911. After that chore was complete we returned inside to rest. About 4 PM Kristi called and told us the Brad (Steve’s son) had died that morning. We were all upset as it was unexpected and of course no one expects their child to die before them. We were in a daze more or less for the rest of the day. Monday (25th) Today we did lots of errands and also went to Walmart. We also drove the RV so Steve could check the steering stabilizer adjustment and aired up the tires. My sister, Marsha sent us a nice plant with their condolences.

Kristi and Austyn left after her school was out to go to Amarillo to help make funeral arrangements. Tuesday,  (26th) Steve has an appointment at the VA SCI clinic. They said his MRI was stable and he has no new MS lesions. Good News! Wednesday (27th) Today was spent packing the RV and doing laundry. We also were on the phone with Kristi making decisions about funeral arrangements. Thursday (27th) I got around a little earlier today and went to see Dr. Stubbs for a shot in my left shoulder. He comes to Perry - so this makes it convenient for me. We finished loading the RV and left about 10:55 to head to El Reno. We arrived there about 12:45 and set up the RV. Then we took a nap. We picked up John for supper and talked to Logan at Wendy’s and planned the next day.

Flowers from our walk

Friday (29th) When we finished getting dressed we walked the dogs. Then  I ordered some flowers for Logan and his girlfriend. Tonight is the Prom and we will be taking pictures of them since Kristi can’t be here. Logan got out of school early so we took him to Braum’s for lunch and We got the flowers to him. We were back and forth between the RV and Kristi’s house so he could get ready, pick up his girlfriend and take pictures. I had several places I wanted to take pictures, but the wind was blowing 30 mph - so we mainly took inside pictures. We also went downtown and watched them walk the red carpet into the prom venue. It was interesting. Then we had supper with John and took him home.

We picked up Logan so he could go to Amarillo with us for the funeral. After getting gas in the RV at Walmart, we hooked up the pickup and were on our way. While we were gassing up the RV a lady started asking us about RVing and we told as much as we could in a short time. It was nice to share our thoughts about RVing with her. We stopped at Erick OK for a rest and a snack.
