April 1 - 15, 2024 Eclipse! Preparations for Trip and Other Things

April 1-Monday-Well it is laundry day again. We also worked on the quarter coin collection. It rained today and later we had some thunderstorms.

April 2 -Tuesday-After our morning routines were complete we got dressed. Then we were off to Stillwater. We made stops at Walgreen’s, Ulta, and Walmart Market. We got home and put away all our stuff. We ate at la Macarena with Hazel. Linda didn’t join us because she went home early.

April 3-Wednesday-There wasn’t too much to report today. I think we just did routine things and did a little bookkeeping.

April 4-Thursday-We met with the funeral home guy this morning. He gave us some papers to fill out. The paper has family info and how you want your service carried out. After lunch we took our dogs to the vet for their yearly checkup. We ate supper at La Macarena again - but with Linda tonight.

April 5-Friday-We got around pretty good this morning. I mowed the from yard while Steve pulled weeds. He also did weed eating behind the back fence. We sprayed weed kill on the north side of the fence. Then we rested in the afternoon.

April 6-Saturday-It was a very Windy day today! So mostly we did inside things today. We watched some TV and did some shopping in Perry.

April 7-Sunday-Pretty much a routine day. I did some bill paying and caught up our bookkeeping in Quicken. We watched a bear presentation on You Tube. I think it was put on by Glacier Conservancy, but not sure. We also watched basketball and worked on funeral paperwork,

April 8-Monday-We got around and went back to the funeral home to pay for our pre-paid funeral plan. What fun! We are doing this so our relatives don’t have to do it if something unexpected happens. We have had an unexpected death in the family for the last 3 years. None of them had made any funeral plans. So we are planning ahead. We were able to enjoy the solar eclipse also. I had ordered us eclipse glasses and we got a fairly nice showing. Also it was laundry day! Laundry isn’t too big a problem for us. It is usually only 2-3 loads per week.

April 9-Tuesday-We were up at 7:00 AM. After getting around we left for Oklahoma City at 8:00 AM. We arrived at 9:10. We went to the 3rd floor to wait. Steve had nerve ablation on his back. After the procedure was over his right leg was numb (they said this happens) and so we went to the 7th floor for him to wait and be observed for about 30 - 40 minutes. We got home in time for lunch. Steve fixed something on the battery again. We went to supper with Linda at LaMacarena.

Neighbors getting a whole new driveway

Pretty sky!

April 10-Wednesday-We finished our routine things and headed out to Walmart. We got back home in good time and had lunch. Steve hurt his back a little bending to put something up in the refrigerator. I made him rest!

April 11-Thursday-Today we went to the bank and put our coins that do not fit the book criteria and cashed them in. You don’t have to roll your coins anymore - you just put them in a machine and it counts them. We had $146.68 in change. We did not turn in $35.00 in quarters, we are saving them for laundry this summer!

April 12-Friday-We made a trip back to Stillwater today. I had a dermatology appointment. The lady found some wisdom (age) spots and she froze them! Wow! Not too painful! I stopped in at Walmart to look at some cheap jeans - they are not even hemmed. I bought them, thinking I could hem them. But saved the receipt. When I tried them on at home - I did not like them. Returning. I also had to pick up the dermatology meds. Then it was back home and I also mowed the yard.

April 13-Saturday-We did odds and ends today. I helped Steve with some weed spraying in the ditch behind our house. Then he fixed the light switch on his pickup topper. We also did our bank statements. Does anyone else do these? I still reconcile my account the old-fashioned way every now and then. We also reconcile on Quicken.

The infamous ditch after clean-up

April 14-Sunday-We did routine things and walked. Then I filled out a travel claim for Steve’s VA appointment earlier this week. We also did some laundry and mowed the back yard. We checked to see if the phone would play music in the RV with the new dongle connection I had to order to work with the iPhone 15. It worked! Yea!

We hit 91 ° today!

April 15-Monday-We were up and around. We walked this morning and then got ready to go to the VA. Steve had 2 appointments today. We left at 11:30 and got them in plenty of time for SCI and the other appointment. Steve also had some lab work done. We were on our way out and I saw a guy who used to work at the hospital in Enid with me. It was Thomas. We visited about 20 minutes. He is young - maybe 30 - so it was good to know he has a good job with benefits. I told him to stick with the VA- it’s a good job. Then we drove to Kristi’s. We were going to take Logan, Cielo, and baby along with Kristi and John out to supper. We ate at Texas Roadhouse to celebrate Logan’s 19th birthday! Wow these kids are growing up!

My Peony is blooming!

These are the kids when they were little! Like 5 and 2 or 3

This family again! They don't mind having their picture taken!

  1. Truly Quicken is the way to go, but I'm a procrastinating accountant. I balance by hand, but it only takes ten minutes. Funeral plans ... you are SO smart to do that ahead of time!!
