April 1 - 15, 2024 Eclipse! Preparations for Trip and Other Things

April 1-Monday-Well it is laundry day again. We also worked on the quarter coin collection. It rained today and later we had some thunderstorms.

April 2 -Tuesday-After our morning routines were complete we got dressed. Then we were off to Stillwater. We made stops at Walgreen’s, Ulta, and Walmart Market. We got home and put away all our stuff. We ate at la Macarena with Hazel. Linda didn’t join us because she went home early.

April 3-Wednesday-There wasn’t too much to report today. I think we just did routine things and did a little bookkeeping.

April 4-Thursday-We met with the funeral home guy this morning. He gave us some papers to fill out. The paper has family info and how you want your service carried out. After lunch we took our dogs to the vet for their yearly checkup. We ate supper at La Macarena again - but with Linda tonight.

April 5-Friday-We got around pretty good this morning. I mowed the from yard while Steve pulled weeds. He also did weed eating behind the back fence. We sprayed weed kill on the north side of the fence. Then we rested in the afternoon.

April 6-Saturday-It was a very Windy day today! So mostly we did inside things today. We watched some TV and did some shopping in Perry.

April 7-Sunday-Pretty much a routine day. I did some bill paying and caught up our bookkeeping in Quicken. We watched a bear presentation on You Tube. I think it was put on by Glacier Conservancy, but not sure. We also watched basketball and worked on funeral paperwork,

April 8-Monday-We got around and went back to the funeral home to pay for our pre-paid funeral plan. What fun! We are doing this so our relatives don’t have to do it if something unexpected happens. We have had an unexpected death in the family for the last 3 years. None of them had made any funeral plans. So we are planning ahead. We were able to enjoy the solar eclipse also. I had ordered us eclipse glasses and we got a fairly nice showing. Also it was laundry day! Laundry isn’t too big a problem for us. It is usually only 2-3 loads per week.

April 9-Tuesday-We were up at 7:00 AM. After getting around we left for Oklahoma City at 8:00 AM. We arrived at 9:10. We went to the 3rd floor to wait. Steve had nerve ablation on his back. After the procedure was over his right leg was numb (they said this happens) and so we went to the 7th floor for him to wait and be observed for about 30 - 40 minutes. We got home in time for lunch. Steve fixed something on the battery again. We went to supper with Linda at LaMacarena.

Neighbors getting a whole new driveway

Pretty sky!

April 10-Wednesday-We finished our routine things and headed out to Walmart. We got back home in good time and had lunch. Steve hurt his back a little bending to put something up in the refrigerator. I made him rest!

April 11-Thursday-Today we went to the bank and put our coins that do not fit the book criteria and cashed them in. You don’t have to roll your coins anymore - you just put them in a machine and it counts them. We had $146.68 in change. We did not turn in $35.00 in quarters, we are saving them for laundry this summer!

April 12-Friday-We made a trip back to Stillwater today. I had a dermatology appointment. The lady found some wisdom (age) spots and she froze them! Wow! Not too painful! I stopped in at Walmart to look at some cheap jeans - they are not even hemmed. I bought them, thinking I could hem them. But saved the receipt. When I tried them on at home - I did not like them. Returning. I also had to pick up the dermatology meds. Then it was back home and I also mowed the yard.

April 13-Saturday-We did odds and ends today. I helped Steve with some weed spraying in the ditch behind our house. Then he fixed the light switch on his pickup topper. We also did our bank statements. Does anyone else do these? I still reconcile my account the old-fashioned way every now and then. We also reconcile on Quicken.

The infamous ditch after clean-up

April 14-Sunday-We did routine things and walked. Then I filled out a travel claim for Steve’s VA appointment earlier this week. We also did some laundry and mowed the back yard. We checked to see if the phone would play music in the RV with the new dongle connection I had to order to work with the iPhone 15. It worked! Yea!

We hit 91 ° today!

April 15-Monday-We were up and around. We walked this morning and then got ready to go to the VA. Steve had 2 appointments today. We left at 11:30 and got them in plenty of time for SCI and the other appointment. Steve also had some lab work done. We were on our way out and I saw a guy who used to work at the hospital in Enid with me. It was Thomas. We visited about 20 minutes. He is young - maybe 30 - so it was good to know he has a good job with benefits. I told him to stick with the VA- it’s a good job. Then we drove to Kristi’s. We were going to take Logan, Cielo, and baby along with Kristi and John out to supper. We ate at Texas Roadhouse to celebrate Logan’s 19th birthday! Wow these kids are growing up!

My Peony is blooming!

These are the kids when they were little! Like 5 and 2 or 3

This family again! They don't mind having their picture taken!

March 16 -31, 2024 Doing Necessary Things

Mar 16 - Saturday-Steve busied himself washing off the back porch this morning. I did some shopping all around Perry. We walked and tried to get Zoey to go - but she wasn’t interested. She has had some trouble with her back and arthritis, so sometimes she needs a little more rest.

Mar 17-Sunday- This is the day that the family is coming up for a cook out. The weather could have been a little better, but we cooked hamburgers on the grill and had beans and chips. We also had some dessert. I told everyone to wear some green since it was St. Patrick’s Day! I didn't get pictures of the rest of the family, they left to early!

Mar 18-Monday-This was a laundry Monday. Also we went to pick up the mail and buy some groceries. It was chilly today and I fixed chili for supper!

Mar 19-Tuesday-Well we did all the routine morning things. Then we ordered a device for the computer. I also checked on some bills. Later I helped Steve with picking up leaves and sticks. It got windy so we went back inside. We had supper at La Macarena with Linda and Hazel.

Mar 20-Wednesday-Today was not too special. We did some computer work (which gobbles up time). and then a few other items. We also took a nice walk.

Mar 21-Thursday-The big event for today was going to Walmart for groceries. We went after lunch and that was not the best time to go. There are more people there at that time. Next time we will try to arrive there earlier. I checked in with our county assessor and we do not owe any taxes. Yea!

Mar 22-Friday-Well we were up to our usual putzing this morning. Then Steve worked on the RV engine battery. We also ordered a doodad for the computer and some printer ink. We have an appointment at H & R Block tomorrow. We got in a walk also today.

Mar 23-Saturday. After checking in with H& R Block - we are good. We don’t owe any taxes. We have been watching some NCAA Basketball games. They get really good during March Madness.

Crocus

Buster getting some sun.

Mar 24-Sunday- This was a pretty slow day. We watched Basketball and car races. There was some rain that kept us from doing outside things.

Beautiful full moon

Mar 25-Monday. Today we have the AT & T tech here to check out our internet - It is very slow. He found a short and it is supposedly fixed.

Mar 26-Tuesday-Again it was a pretty slow day. I paid some bills and we checked our mail. Later we had supper with Linda and Hazel.

Mar 27-Wednesday-I talked to At&T again. We need a technician again! The internet is very slow! It’s so aggravating! I was able to mow the front yard. I called to check on cemetary plots and a funeral plan for Steve and I. We are planning to do these not fun things before we leave on our summer trip.

Bad Internet

Mar 28-Thursday-We were up at 7:15. Another AT& T Technician is supposed to be here today. He checked things out and we still were not getting a whole lot better speeds. He wanted me to call and have AT&T change something - and I was very belligerent and would not do it. He finally got the company to do it and the speed came up. We will see how long it lasts. This fall I may change to Bluepeak. Although I don’t love them because they left all the branches in our ditch a few years back. We went to the cemetary and bought 2 plots. Steve and I will be in one and my first husband in the other.

Mar 29-Friday-I paid bills today. Then Steve and I looked up different routes on the computer. In the afternoon we worked on quarters.

Mar 30-Saturday-Today we drove the RV out to Perry Lake and hooked up the utilities. This is spring cleaning day for the RV and testing the new hot water heater. Of course there were some difficulties with the water heater (a leak) that had to be fixed. Steve did it! Then we shampooed the carpet and did other deep cleaning of the RV. We also changed the sheets on the RV bed! On one of our trips between the house and RV I got pulled over by a town cop. I was speeding! Can you believe that! He only gave me a warning though. I was glad of that. Now I will be slower. Who says old folks follow all the rules?  LOL

Mar 31-Sunday-After getting dressed we returned to the RV and finished the cleaning. Steve also flushed our tanks really good. We finished about 4:30 PM and went home and relaxed.

Mar 1 - Mar 15, 2024 Doing Things Outside

Mar 1- Friday-  We watched Glacier Coversations on You Tube. Then we worked on the coin collection. Later we organized the shed and hauled off some junk.

Mar 2 - Saturday-I helped Steve straighten up the small shed. We also hauled off some more junk. Getting rid of stuff we don’t use or need is one of my favorite things to do.

Mar 3- Sunday-Today Steve worked on his tool boxes. They were a mess and he wanted to organize them. I helped him with that also.

Mar 4 -Monday-Today was laundry day. So we worked on that. Steve was still working on his tools also. I had ordered a couch cover for the RV and it was too small. We mailed it back at the Post Office. Then we paid a few bills. Steve installed a new battery in my MacBook Air. We had looked up on You Tube how to replace it. We ordered the replacement battery from Amazon and the repair went great! I talked to JC and also Pam (she was groggy).

Mar 5-Tuesday-I didn’t get up until 9:00 AM. I helped Steve work outside with the weeds in the ditch behind our fence. We are trying to kill the weeds there so the water will flow through the ditch into the storm drain. We joined Linda and Hazel at La Macarena for supper.

Mar 6-Wednesday-Today we were off to Stillwater. We made our first stop at Lowe’s and then it was on to Walmart. We were home by lunch. We worked out in the back yard on the drain under our sidewalk to the shed. That was a bigger job than I expected. Steve got all muddy too! We also had to cut a root out of the fence.

One of the first signs of spring!

Mar 7-Thursday-After our morning routine, we went back to the backyard and worked on the drain. It was a pretty day and we sat in our swing to relax.

Mar 8-Friday-Today I got fixed up a little better than usual. We drove to Enid to Vance Air Force Base  so I could get a new military ID. The new one I got does not expire. Then we went to the commissary to check out prices. The weather changed to cold rain with a little bit of sleet thrown in for fun! We got home by lunchtime. So the afternoon was taking it easy with some TV and a nap for good measure.

Mar 9-Saturday-It was pretty cool today - about 40°. I paid some bill and worked on the computer. I ordered a new mouse for our desktop computer. And we checked out our new couch cover and it fits. Yea!

Mar 10-Sunday-Pretty much the same old thing today. The highlight was working in the shed again with Steve. We had pizza for supper.

Mar 11-Monday-Steve worked in his shed. I did some errands around town. I went to Thorn’s, the post office and Homeland. Later we picked up gas for the lawnmower.

Mar 12-Tuesday-Steve did more work in the shed. Later I helped him work in the ditch behind the fence. We had a nice walk today. Later we had hamburgers at Braum’s.

Mar 13-Wednesday-After our morning routine was finished. I mowed the grass in front. Steve cleaned out the pickup and car. He does a great job detailing vehicles.

Mar 14-Thursday-Today we did a Walmart run after our morning routine was over. We took a short stroll around the neighborhood today. For supper we ate at the Boomerang to celebrate Hazel’s birthday! We had their shrimp basket while it was on special. Our boss in Montana sent us this picture of Echo Lake-It was still iced over today.

A shot of the dock at Echo Lake (MT), The lake is iced over in this picture!

Mar 15-Friday- We had our breakfast and got ready. About 10:00 AM we left to got to Bartlesville to visit with Pam & JC. Paige & Dave joined us for lunch at Rib Crib. Then we were back to Pams and a stop at Paige’s also. It was 6:30 before we got back home. The drive to Bartlesville and back is a long one.

Steve saw this pay phone when we stopped for a snack stop and wanted his picture taken with it. So I obliged!

Feb 16- 29, 2024 Doing Some Springy Type Things

Feb 16 - Friday-I guess I was on the phone still trying to cancel the Best Buy one year Geek Squad membership. I ended up having to call twice to get it cancelled and off my credit card. I also spent time on the phone making doctor appointments. I renewed our Escapees membership. We staying inside most of the day because it was pretty chilly at 40°. Steve had the tingles again with his new MS pill.

Feb 17-Saturday-It was cold today. So it was the usual stuff  and re-runs on TV. My note says it was too chilly for fun. I made Southwest Chicken Vegetable soup for supper.

Feb 18-Sunday-It was cold in the morning but the temperature improved later in the day. Steve spent a lot of time in the RV replacing the slides on the bathroom drawers. I watched You tube videos and caught up on email.

Feb 19-Monday-Today we did laundry after our morning routine. Steve is still working on the drawers in the RV Bathroom. There isn’t much room to work in there-so it is difficult.

Feb 20-Tuesday-Completed our morning routine. I checked on my credit card and found out that the Geek Squad charge finally got refunded. Perseverance pays off. I helped Steve put away his tools and we also did a short walk. Later I got a text from my niece that they had taken my sister Pam to the hospital - She had a bad UTI. Steve and I ate at La Macarena.

Feb 21-Wednesday-I had a poor night’s sleep, but I got up at 8:45 anyway.  After our usual morning routine I rode with Steve to clean the batteries at the car wash. He worked on the batteries and then the water heater exhaust hole. Steve cut his little finger. This makes me his nurse. We have to watch it and take care of it, so it doesn’t get infected.

Feb 22-Thursday- We had no AT&T cell service till afternoon. Steve was busy working on the water heater cover for the RV. I rode the stationary bike for one mile. Woo Hoo.

Feb 23-Friday-Today we cleaned ou the big shed. We put some stuff on the curb with a free sign. I am not sure how we accumulate so much stuff. Things happen! We did some errands around town then it was back home. My sister, Pam got to go home from the hospital.
