That did not last long - The temps have been in the 90's with heat indexes in the 100's!
UGH I wish we would have went north for the summer. We went to OKC and celebrated my sister Nancy's birthday on June 7th. She enjoyed her presents and seems to be doing better. On June 14th we went to the VA at OKC for Steve's routine appointment. He had a good checkup - no problems. Then we went to Camping World and got a screen and some other nifty stuff for our RV trip. After that we ate a sandwich at Schlotzsky's. Next we went to Cabella's where I got two new T-shirts that I LOVE! They are very cool and soft.
We celebrated Father's Day with Kristi and the kids. We drove the RV to El Reno on Sunday and stayed at El Reno Lake. We went to the Texas Roadhouse for lunch.
We drove by the house that Kristi is buying and looked around the outside. After lunch - we went to Walmart for a few supplies. Later we had supper at Braum's and the kids joined us in the RV.
They will be going on a short RV trip with us while their mom is on a cruise.
Monday we got on the road about 9 am and headed south.
We were headed to Thousand Trails Texoma - where I had won a free week of camping from a facebook contest last fall. Yes it was hot - but thank goodness the generator and the air conditioner were working great. When we arrived at Thousand Trails Lake Texoma - it was just as hot there as it had been in Oklahoma.
We got unhooked and set up - sweating all the time. Next the kids and I went swimming - at the wonderful pool, while Steve and the doggies rested.
We did have a campfire on Monday night and made S'mores- but we only burned about 2 sticks of wood - just too hot.
It took me a while to get cool enough to go to sleep after we went in to the
RV.
We swam on Tuesday and Wednesday - even Steve.
But on Thursday -Steve & I were too burned to get in the water. We walked the dogs and rested. We went to town and ate every night, Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Pelican Bay.
On Thursday night we hooked the pickup up and took down our screen and awning in order to speed up the process for the next morning's departure.
On Friday we got up at 6:30 AM and finished the departure routine. The kids did a good job of helping - they are making great campers. We got on the road about 8:15 AM and arrived in Perry about Noon. We unloaded the necessary items and rested. That night (Friday) we went to the square at Perry and ate at the food trucks and the kids played on bounce houses. Then we went home.
Today we finished unloading the RV and did some laundry. Pretty much just chilled and took it easy. I fixed us some soft tacos and we called it a night.
Then I returned to the wonderful world of work on Monday!
