October 22 - 28, 2018 A Busy Week and Traveling to Arkansas

Monday the 22nd I went to the health department and got a free flu  shot. After that was completed we took the RV out to the Perry Lake and shampooed the carpet. In addition to that - we did some deep cleaning of the stove, bathroom, and shower. By the time the day was over - we were pooped.
Tuesday we  went to Ponca City for my routine doctor appointment and also did a Walmart run for supplies.
Wednesday the 24th, we went to the VA. Steve had two eye appointments and the first one was at 10:00 AM. That means we got up pretty early and got on the road by 8:00 or 8:30 AM. Anyway, I was sleepy - We were in the waiting room a long time - I told Steve if I started to snore - wake me up!  When I got up to go to the restroom - I saw a friend who used to work for me at Wheatheart Nutrition. It was Janet - who was our site manager at Blackwell, OK.  She and I had a great visit and made a plan to get together for lunch sometime! Anyway it made my time pass faster, getting to visit. Steve got his eye check done and they ordered new glasses for him. He is supposed to return in January to see how the glasses are doing.
We got home and rested a bit then started gathering and packing things for the upcoming RV trip to Arkansas.
Thursday the 25th - we finished packing the RV. It was raining - not fun! We decided not to have Steve go up on the roof and put the satellite dish in place.  In fact, we stopped at Camping World in OKC and tried to buy a portable Tailgator satellite dish to ensure Steve doesn't have to keep getting up on the roof. Guess what? They did not have any in stock. So we drove on to El Reno and set up the RV. Then we drove the pickup into town to Kristi's house to wait for Irene (his sister from Amarillo) to arrive. After she got there we loaded her stuff into the pickup and we all went to eat Pizza and Ice Cream for supper.  After that we returned to the RV and got settled in for the night. Of course our dogs did not know Irene and so they were troublesome getting acquainted with her. Finally, they settled in for the night and by the next morning the dogs were starting to accept her.

Friday was sunny - Better for travel
We got up Friday morning and hooked the pickup back up to the RV and got ourselves ready to travel. We left about 11:00 AM and headed east to Arkansas. We stopped for the night at Fort Smith, AR and I thought we could stay at a Corp of Engineers park - but we pulled in & they were full. Duh,  I had not made any reservations. So I called a private park - they didn't have any vacancy either. Next I tried to get us to the military park - but the road did not work. So I found an RV Park at a Golf Course, Eagle Crest Golf Course & RV Park. They were very nice and had plenty of room - and it only cost $25.00.  We were almost lonely there, only one other RV was there.  It was a nice RV park and a good deal.

Saturday, we got up and walked our dogs and putzed around then hit the road. We got to Pine Bluff about 3 PM and got the RV set up in a pull through site at a park not far from where Steve's other sister, Terry lived. It was also $25.00 per night. It was a nice spot - but we were the only travelers there I think. Most of the rest looked like they lived there and worked.  The owner was very nice and we were fine with it. Oh, I almost forgot, it was pretty warm and the mosquitos were lively. We went and met up with Steve's sister and her man then took the whole bunch to a Chinese  buffet. They were happy we came.

Irene, Steve, Terry
On Sunday we took everybody to lunch at Chili's to celebrate Terry's birthday! Then we made a trip to Walmart for a few things. After that it was officially nap time! In the evening we all went for Ice Cream and I got a few pictures of Steve with his sisters.

October 15 through 21, 2018

Monday the 15th was a regular day and I went to the health department and got a flu shot. We did some more accounting and talked to Irene (Steve's sister) about an upcoming trip to Arkansas to visit his other sister.

Tuesday, the 16th we went to OKC to the VA clinic for Steve's follow-up appointment with the SCI clinic.  SCI stands for Spinal Cord Injury - he fits this category because he has MS.  His regular PA was out for the day and we saw Dr. Rabbadi - who is the head of the Neurology department for OKC-VA.  He was very nice and thorough. We stopped at Camping World but didn't buy anything!
On Wednesday - I didn't feel great and didn't do much. By Thursday I had improved and we did some laundry and ordered a part for Steve's recliner in the RV. We ended up ordering it direct from Winnebago - because they had the part and knew what we needed.  There is a lady there, Lisa - who is great help!

Butterflies for your viewing pleasure!

On Friday we got up and around and drove to Oklahoma City to meet Pam (my sister) and Paige (my niece) for another birthday celebration!  We ate at Red Lobster and then went to the mall - Dillard's and Penney's. Then it was back home to take it easy. Saturday and Sunday were routine days with a little work on cleaning the RV, some laundry and football thrown in.  There may have been naps also!

We watched a movie on Amazon - "Woman Walks Ahead".
It was about an artist who left New York City to come west and paint. It was loosely based on Caroline Weldon's life.  After her arrival, she eventually became and Indian activist. She painted a portrait of Sitting Bull and it is on display at the North Dakota Heritage Center (Historical Society). - Bismarck, ND. One thing that struck me about the movie was her quest: She did not want to be insignificant! The movie romanticized her life and actions - but we enjoyed it! She painted four portraits of Sitting Bull but only two survived. The other painting is at the Historic Arkansas Museum in Little Rock, Maybe we can plan our RV travels to go see the painting. Another thing I would love to see - I will add it to the list. The list grows longer and I wonder if I will ever get to all the places I would like to see.

October, 2018 On the Homefront

What’s next -
There are many things to do when we get home. We have to go through the mail, unload the RV, take the satellite dish off the RV and make sure the house is still livable.
The first week arrived and we drove to Enid on Saturday to see Pam & JC. Pam wanted to buy me a birthday present and then they took us out to eat at Chili’s for us to celebrate our birthdays that happened while we were gone (August).  Sunday we did laundry and relaxed and continued to unload things as we needed.
Additional things that I need to take care of are getting Steve’s medications refilled, changing some of his appointmens, and catching up the blog.
Sunset - Oct 1 - Perry
We have been trying to walk some unless Steve’s back is hurting.
Steve on his 1st trip to Walmart after getting home!
I renewed my Oklahoma RD license after I got home. On October 4, Thursday - we went to see Nancy at her nursing home in OKC and then went to Noble OK and watched Logan play football.  After the game we ate at Buffalo Wild Wings - not great, but OK.

On October 5 - I wished my sister (Marsha) a Happy  Birthday and Steve & I celebrated our 16th anniversary. He went to the chiropractor in Stillwater to try to feel better. He has been having a rough time with his back - so this helped him. Saturday and Sunday we watched a lot of football, took some nap and walks. But to our surprise on Sunday evening the tornado sirens went off here in Perry. So we grabbed our dogs, pillows, purse, phones, and medicine and staying in the bathroom for a bit. We were lucky and it did not hit us or anywhere near us.  It did do some damage in northern Oklahoma City. But thank goodness we dodged the bullet.

Bird at CCC Lake -walking Oct. 7, 2018

October 8th we walked, did laundry and worked on the blog. Tuesday (9th) I got my hair colored and we ate out with Linda & Hazel. Wednesday - we worked on catching up our bank statements and the accounting. Thursday - we did a little trip to Lowe's and Walmart at Stillwater.  Friday (12th) ,we put clean sheets on the bed in the RV, washed the sleeping bags. When the week-end rolled around, Kristi and the grandkids came to visit. So, Saturday we had a little celebration for summer birthdays that had passed and ate lunch at the Texas Roadhouse in Stillwater. Then we went to a movie - Venom at the theater. We came home and hung out. Sunday we pretty much took it easy except for Steve and Logan- they worked on a project for the pickup.
This post gets me through the first half of October.  More to come!
