June 5 - 15, 2021 The beginning of June

The weekend of Jun 5 & 6 was pretty routine. Saturday was windy and then Sunday was cool about 50-58 degrees. We did all the routine things and hung out at the RV. On Sunday we had a nice little campfire and also put our trail camera for a view of the lake and our visitors.

Monday we did weed eating and later we took a drive to Bear Creek Road. There was a nice creek and the dogs enjoyed their excursion. There were some college kids (I assume) doing a study on snapping turtles. They are trying to trap them - eventually they didn’t have any luck, so I don’t know how their study went. Steve helped them back their boat in the water.

Don't turn Montana into the S...Hole State you left.

The highlight for Tuesday the 8th was a trip to Bish RV to return the thermostat and then to Walmart for supplies. We had another campfire and sat outside a bit.

Campfire

Wednesday I had been up late the night before and it was raining so I returned to bed to read. Thursday it rained all day and we mostly stayed inside and watched the rain and TV. Tony P was here to bring us a couple of lifejackets. I made some chicken soup for supper. Friday’s highlight was weed eating. We also moved our game camera by a deer trail. Hopefully we get some cool pics of the deer. We also drove to Horseshoe Lake and saw about 5 deer and 2 turkeys on our drive.

On Saturday the 12th, it was rainy most of the morning and cool. So we stayed inside and watched a conference on Multiple Sclerosis. It was very informative. We enjoyed another campfire outside in the evening. On Sunday we sat outside and visited with some people about workamping. A nap may have been taken and that was about the highlight. It got up 85 degrees on Sunday the 13th of June.

On Monday the 14th we did all the routine things. For supper we returned to town for pizza. When we got back to the Lake we found out a rock had been pushed out of place and was almost blocking the dock. So we used Steve’s tow rope and got it out of the way.

I tried to let a guy know that he had parked in a tow away zone with his pickup and boat trailer - and he did not take it very well. Oh well, you can’t win them all. Tuesday I woke up  from a poor night’s sleep. But anyway we did our routine chores and then did some weed eating all the way to the stop sign. Steve does the majority of the weed eating - but I try to give him a few breaks. That evening (June 15th) a thunderstorm came up. We were out of electricity all night. Thank goodness we have a generator and water in our fresh tank, We made out fine.

June 1 - June 4, 2021 Routines keep us going

Jun 1 Tues

Today after the routine things we do every day we went to town. We stopped at the hardware store (Sliters) and checked on the access site. Next we picked up some groceries and drove through the car wash. We made it home in time for lunch. The lake wasn’t too busy today, I guess the holiday is over! Steve did more research on the heater. We drove up to Strawberry Lake Trailhead which was nice and peaceful.

Jun 2 Wed

This morning after our chores, we had a call from Dr. Ramadi. We explained that Steve is still having a lot of back pain, so he increased his medication (gabapentin). Then we got our laundry ready and went to town. We had lunch after the laundry was done. It was quiche at the Grateful Bread. After we arrived home, we walked the dogs and took a nap.

Jun 3 Thu

We  completed our routine chores and then sat outside awhile, It was 76 degrees at 11 AM - pretty nice. Today some school kids were here with kayaks. (Pictures above) They really looked festive as they paddled across the lake. Steve wrenched his upper back somehow, so he didn’t do much this afternoon. The boss called and said the dust control would be out soon.

Jun 4 Fri

I sent another message through Myhealthevet. We completed our chores here and then went to town to clean the  fishing access site there. We also went to the grocery store. Tony Powell came by to check on us. As he was leaving the dust control came by to spread out oil. This is to keep the dust down. Otherwise the dust would probably overtake us. We have things turned in to us (lost & found). We have 3 sets of keys so far. Most of the time, no one returns for stuff they left. About 4 PM the sheriff came by and said someone complained that their vehicle had been damaged by the oil from the dust control people. I gave him the boss’s card to call him. I also called our boss and let him know.

May 26 - May 28 Getting Set Up

May 26, Wed

Well our morning routine includes Breakfast, Walk, chores. Then we did a little inventory of the supplies in the shed and let our boss know what we needed. Soon Tony Powell came down and brought our requested supplies and had us sign our volunteer papers. Steve showed him the signs  (No Fireworks and No jumping off the Dock) to see if he approved. He liked them. Tony also helped us move the picnic table. We ate leftover pizza for lunch. The fire pit area had big logs from winter cleanup in the way. So we moved them with the help of the pickup and tow rope. Next we got our mat down and other stuff set up. We ran into town for weedeater gas and a few other items. That about finished our day.

May 27, The

We slept in today -it was 9:30 before we got up. We walked the dogs and did our chores. Our next project was to head to Kalispell and go to the RV dealer for a new thermostat for the RV heater. Also I need to go to Walmart and get one of the medications that Great Falls did not have. Of course we also  had to buy groceries and supplies. Sometimes getting medicine on the road is a little challenging. Late this evening about 10:15 I heard noise at the dock. I went down to investigate and found a man pumping water out of the lake into a 1,000 gallon tank. I asked him if he had a permit. He said no and I gave him our boss’s card to see if this was an OK thing to do.

May 28, Fri

It as chilly most of the day. It was 46-56 and windy at times. After breakfast we called the boss  and let him know about the guy who was pumping water out of the lake. Later i took a nap and Steve worked on the furnace again. There is still something not right. This evening we took a short drive and saw 3—4 deer. The game warden came by about 7:00.

May 29 - May 31, 2021 Memorial Day Weekend

May 29, Sat

We did our usual routine this morning. After the walk and chores Steve did some weedeating. Then we went to town  to check the fishing access site at Bigfork. This weekend is the Whitewater Festival in town. We stopped at the grocery store and returned to the RV for a nap and just hanging out and monitoring the crowd.

May 30, Sun

The morning routine was the same and Steve did some more weed eating. Then he took a break and did some more. I usually help him and give him a little break. We were just hanging out at the RV and keeping our eyes out for problems. We also took a short drive and walked the dogs.

May 31, Mon

Today we had our breakfast and walked. Next we did our chores. We put the barrier rope and cable around our site. We really don’t like people walking through our area. About 2:30 or 3:00 PM we counted 50 cars on the road outside of the gate and 35 vehicles in the parking lot. We were packed. Some lady came and wanted to borrow a lighter - I gave her one. Told her there was no need to return it- she could have it. I tried to nap - but didn’t go to sleep. Later I checked on our bills and sent a message about meds to Steve’s HCP about some of his meds.

Afternoon Chaos! LOL
