March 14 - 27th, 2022 Spring Break (Warm, Cold and Windy)

Monday (14th) I had a poor night 's sleep last night. Anyway we were excited to get up and get on the road. After getting our breakfast and doing a few routine things, we packed the RV. We were able to get on the road about 10:30 AM. We arrived at El Reno around 12:30.  The drive was uneventful - but you do need to pay attention when you drive through OKC. The next chore was hooking up our utilities and unhooking the pickup. In addition, we had to flush the antifreeze out of the water lines. Steve put on the water filter under the sink and had a mess to clean up. Something must have went a little wrong there over the winter.  We had supper at Hideaway Pizza in Yukon with Kristi & John. It's great pizza and the original one is in Stillwater. Then it was back to the RV and trouble with the TV. For some reason it was not getting the satellite signal. Steve worked on that for quite awhile and finally got it going. Our main reason to come to El Reno is to look for Logan a vehicle. He has saved his money and we will match his amount so he can have wheels. When I paid for our stay, I had a nice visit with the camphost. Tuesday (15th) After our morning routine, we picked up Logan & Kristi. First we drove around El Reno to look for cars, then it was back to Kristi's house to do some research on available vehicles and gather ideas about where to look for cars. We drove up the Broadway Extension (OKC) and went to Bob Moore, where  Logan drove 2 or 3 cars. Then we went to some used car lots in the south side of OKC and got back to El Reno about 5 PM so Logan could go to work. Later Steve & I joined Kristi & John for Mexican food. It was a little joint downtown and the food was very good. Wednesday (16th) We picked up  Logan about 9:15 and headed to Bethany to look at a Toyota. It's a No on that vehicle. Back to Yukon and stopped at Joe Cooper. We were there til 1:00 PM. Logan & Steve test drove a 1997 Ford Explorer (25 year old, 100,000 miles). They said this was the best vehicle they had checked out, so the dealing started. We got out alive! The Explorer is immaculate with good maintenance records and Logan is happy. So that was the one!  He now has a vehicle, a girlfriend and a dog - all a young guy needs for happiness. John didn't feel great so he didn't join us for supper at Chili's. Then we had to deal with Kristi's vehicle - someone said she needed $2600 of repairs work. She took it to another place and they said it was  OK. No repairs needed. She will keep monitoring it to prevent problems.

Thursday (17th) Today we slept in until 9:30. Then did some routine morning chores. Our next item on the agenda was going to Walmart to pick up my meds and other supplies. Then we just took it easy in the RV. Later we took the dogs to Kristi's house and hung  out - but they were not nice to Logan's pup - so we took them back to the RV. Supper was at Kristi's house and we played a crazy game after supper while visiting with everyone. Austyn & Sky (her boyfriend) came over also.

Friday (18th) Today was cold and windy. We got up at 10:00 AM and just putzed around. After walking the dogs and making the bed we continued to just hang out in the RV. Today we relaxed. Saturday (19th) After we got around, five of us went to Bass Pro in OKC. Steve got a new wardrobe of shirts. He likes the Redhead brand of shirts they carry. We all ate lunch at Texas Roadhouse and then made a stop at Academy Outdoors. Then we went back to the RV and did more relaxing. Shopping and running around can really tire a person out!

Sunday (20th). We were going to leave yesterday, but the weather made us change our mind. We are waiting for a better weather day! So today we picked up supplies for a hamburger cookout at Kristi's. Logan did the grilling - woohoo!. We visited about the trip to Montana and then went back to the RV. We returned to the RV and the wind was blowing so hard I thought I would go crazy. Some of us don't have far to go (to get crazy)! LOL

Monday (21st) Another day that we slept in. It was about 10 AM when we got up. We stayed in the RV til afternoon because it was raining all day and it was pretty chilly. There was a break in the rain and we went to Walmart for more groceries. I made chili for supper and we watched TV. There was a tornado at Kingston, OK tonight (southern Oklahoma). Tuesday (22nd) Another suboptimal weather day! It was 37º with a wind chill of 27º! We stayed inside the RV most of the day. Steve has been researching RV tires and lawnmowers while we have this slow time. And we are staying over another night. We did go see Kristi, John and Logan and drove around town to kill the boredom and get  rid of our cabin fever. Our supper was sloppy joes and chips. Wednesday (23rd) We were up and around at 8:45 today! I felt a little puny but we got everything unhooked (utilities) and hooked up the  pickup and were on our way home about 10:20 AM. We got home about 12:30 and unloaded stuff out of the RV. Then most of the day was spent resting alternating with unpacking the RV. I made some yummy Chicken and Vegetable soup for supper. Thursday (24th) Yes it is still pretty chilly! 36º! We did laundry and paid bills. We also unloaded more stuff from the RV. Steve retrieved the mail. and that was the highlights of this day. Friday (25th) Today we went to Stillwater. I wanted to get hair products from Ulta and shampoo at Walgreens. So after that was finished, we went grocery shopping at Walmart. Then it was back home to unload our goodies and put our feet up. Saturday and Sunday - Pretty much routine stuff. We did walk both days. And on Sunday - we did some trip planning for our summer trip to Montana. Also on Sunday - our electricity was out for about 2 hours. Bummer. I guess someone hit an electric pole.

Some lovely daffodils we saw on our walk!

March 1 - March 13, 2022 It's Either in Like a Lion and Out Like a Lamb or Just the Opposite!

Tuesday (1st) We got up and dressed. After breakfast we started packing the RV. We finished about 11:00 or so and then Steve took a shower. We were ready to get on the road. We stopped at Bill's Corner (12 mi east of town) so Steve could fix the mirror. Then Steve turned onto the wrong highway - but we got turned around right away. We headed north on 177 toward Ponca City and about 11 or 12 miles down the road we had no power. The RV was barely moving. So Steve got us off the highway and started looking around for a problem. He had to remove the cover of the doghouse and fiddle around with some stuff. It seemed like a fuel issue. Anyway - he finally got it running - so we turned around and went home to work on it. Thank goodness we were able to get it going and back home. We didn't need a tow truck! Steve started researching the problem while I unloaded the RV. After he had a good idea what the problem might be, we went to O'Reilly's and bought a code reader.
A lovely old barn

This barn has been around for awhile.

Love taking pictures of old barns

Wednesday (2nd) We got up and around this morning. I was on the computer getting Going to The Sun Road entrance tickets on recreation.gov and Steve was researching the codes that came up on the RV problem. About 10:45 we left for Bartlesville and arrived at 1:00 PM. We stopped outside of Pawhuska at Casey's and used the restroom and got some scratch off tickets. I think we won $4! We went out to eat at Chili's with Pam & JC. Then we visited with Pam while JC went to a caregiver meeting and later to choir. We got home about 9:45 PM and went to bed soon after.  Thursday (3rd) Today we started a little  slow then got around. The problem with the RV is the Throttle actuator control and a sensor. We went to O'Reilly's to get a gasket and order a part. Also we bought some cleaner for the sensor. Steve worked on the RV Park. After lunch he moved the refrigerator (in the house) to clean out a fan underneath, so it would keep working. Then it was back to the RV for more work and get the part - air flow sensor. So our little trip was put on hold until things are operating better. Friday (4th) Today we picked up the gasket and went to Walmart for groceries. We were back home by 1:15 PM. As we were unloading groceries, our dog, Poopsie came running out to see us. I started to pick her up and tripped on a concrete crack and fell down kind of landing on top of her (but not squishing her). Anyway we were both kind of hurt, but not seriously. Steve fixed the RV and put on the sensor and the throttle body actuator. Then we relaxed. Saturday (5th) Today we took it easy most of the day. I pad a few bills and we putzed around the house. We did take two walks today. Sunday (6th) Today was chilly again! It rained in the afternoon. Today was mostly an inside day.
Monday (7th) Another pretty cold day  27º in the morning and 39º at 5:30. So we did our laundry and some household chores. Tuesday (8th) After the routine things and lunch, I ordered Covid tests. Then we checked in with H & R Block to see if we needed to file taxes - no need. Yea! I had found some clothes to donate and we dropped them off at Operation Blessing. We also visited with Linda and picked up our mail. We enjoyed our supper at La Macarena and celebrated Hazel's birthday a little early! Wednesday (9th) Today we drove the RV to Stillwater for a test drive. Steve drove the RV and I followed him in the pickup. While we were there we did grocery shopping. The RV did great and we had no problems. Thursday (10th) Another cold day with a wind chill of 19º! So it was an inside day -did some bill paying and other putzing around stuff. Friday (11th) Today we had snow in the morning and again more cold weather. We listened to the Dear Bob and Sue Podcast during lunch. Our snow melted by 1:00 PM. We decided, it's cold! Too cold for fun! Saturday (12th) It was 18º at 7 AM! So we stayed inside until after lunch. We walked the dogs around the square downtown - so they wouldn't get cabin fever! LOL Steve also cleaned the RV Windows. Sunday (13th) One of the first things we did today was change the clocks. Today is Spring Forward Day! As the day went on , we started packing the RV and doing laundry. We are going to leave tomorrow for El Reno. It is Spring Break in Oklahoma and we are going to help Logan look for a vehicle.

February 16 - 28, 2022

Wednesday (16th) After doing our morning routine I went to the hospital to check on Maxine and stayed a couple of hours. Then it was back home for lunch and a walk. Thursday   (17th) Again   I went tot he hospital to sit with Maxine so Linda could fix Hazel's hair. Maxine seemed better. The doctor wants to put her in a swing bed so she can get physical therapy. I had a couple of stops downtown at the post office and grocery store. Then Steve an I had lunch and took it easy. Today I renewed our Escapees club membership and Escapees Roadside Assistance. Roadside Assistance coverage always make me feel a little safer when we hit the road. Friday (18th) we went to Walmart in Stillwater after we got ready. I also picked up my meds there and some for Linda also. When we got all our stuff unloaded and put away, we rested a bit. Saturday (19th) wasn't too busy. Steve fixed the car window button in my car (passenger side) and we also ordered new speakers for the pickup. Later we tuned in to the Olympics and wound down for the day. Sunday (20th) Nothing too exciting today - we watched the Olympics and I made Chicken Pot Pie for supper! Whoop Whoop!

Monday (21st) Today President's Day is celebrated. We did all the normal things including Laundry. He also put 2 new speakers in his pickup. It was 70  degrees and we had an enjoyable walk. Tuesday (22nd) today it was 17 degrees in the morning and the high was 30. The weather changed drastically! We changed the sheets on our bed and put different ones on. We have an adjustable King size bed - so it is quite an undertaking when we change those sheets! Steve & I ate supper at La Macarena without Linda and Hazel because they were otherwise occupied. Wednesday (23rd) Again it was very cold when we got up, 11° at 9:45 Am. So it  was an inside day and we just putzed around.

A little more snow!

Thursday   (24th) It was more of the same. Another inside day because it was only 23 degrees at 5:00 PM. My question of the day is: "When will winter end?" Friday (25th) Today's high was 30°! So we stayed inside most of the day. I did put out some ice melt. And in other news, the war in Ukraine started today! Saturday (26th) Again it was an inside day and we started watching Tin Star on Prime. It's an interesting series, but the British accent is hard for me to follow. Sunday (27th) we did routine morning things. In the afternoon, I watched Steve fix the window on the south side of the house. The birds had made a nest there and they were making lots of noise in the mornings. There were two boards he had to replace that had gotten rotten and allowed the birds access. He did a great job. He also fixed my seat belt in the RV. Our supper was taco salad.

Monday (28th) Today is the last day of February. We started out with  laundry and then found out the battery in the pickup was bad. So we went to O'Reilly's and got a replacement for no charge, because it wasn't that old.  He also put in new battery cable ends and installed all them. We started gathering stuff up for a trip in the RV. He packed the pickup and I worked on inside stuff. The plan it to leave tomorrow and go to Dewey to see my sister and stay a few days then mosey around the countryside a bit.  Stay tuned!
