November 1 - 27, 2022 Prepping for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Shoulder Surgery

 Nov 1-6

Tuesday - We were up and around. This morning we went to Stillwater for orthotics. The VA approved two pair of orthotics and shoes for Steve. Then we stopped at Belk and Cato before heading to Walmart Market for groceries. We walked around the neighborhood today. For our supper we met up with Hazel, Linda and Stetson at La Macarena. Wednesday-Today we went to work on the ditch behind our fence. We cleared limbs and Steve sawed the bigger tree with the chain saw. We drug them out of the  ditch and into the tree belt. We also raked leaves. It tired us out. In addition, I fell and so we called it quits after a while. Thursday - We did all our routine morning stuff to start our day. Next we started working on a shelf in the garage. It had collected a lot of junk and empty containers. So now we have a lot more room to store stuff. Our boss from Montana texted us some first snow pictures from Echo Lake (Our Summer Gig). Friday - We did some more cleaning of shelves in the garage. It is so nice to get rid of junk. We found an old 22 rifle in the garage that belonged to my first husband and I gave it to Linda for a keepsake. She said her husband would clean it up and they would love to have it. Saturday & Sunday We walked both days and also completed some laundry. Football was on the agenda and that takes some of our time. My team OSU (OK State) lost to Kansas! Boy was I mad at them!

Nov 7-13

Monday - After getting around we headed to Ponca City. I got a bone density test today. I will find out if I passed in a few days. Then we drove on over to Dewey to see Pam & JC. We had lunch at Chili's with them and hung out for a while. Paige (my niece) came over, so we got to visit with her also. We got home about 7:00 PM and we watched TV had some snacks and went to bed. Tuesday - Today was election day and I voted. Steve doesn't care to vote - so he doesn't. He worked behind the fence again getting rid of weeds and branches. We enjoyed a nice walk together. I also started planning the Thanksgiving menu and grocery list. We had supper at La Macarena - it's a Tuesday thing! Wednesday - We got to Walmart about 9:30 and got a lot of groceries and supplies. We were back home by 11:45. Then we unloaded and put away all the stuff. After lunch we relaxed and I ordered some Christmas presents from Amazon. Thursday - It was rainy today. I worked on my blog and Steve went outside and worked some when it wasn't raining. He might have gotten too tired, because he was sweaty and trembly when he came in. I made him rest after that. Friday - Today we were back to cleaning out stuff. We tackled our bedroom closet and the spare bedroom. We also straightened out the computer room some. Then it was rest and relax time. Saturday- We were out and about today. We met Kristi and John at Quail Springs Mall in Oklahoma City for shopping. Then had lunch at PF Changs. We also made a stop at Kohl's. After we arrived home we watched football and OK State beat Iowa State! Yea! Sunday - Today was football watching. Dallas got beat. I did not take notes on who else played.

Nov 14 - 20

Monday - Today we did Laundry, how exciting. Then Steve cleaned the back bathroom. I worked on the blog. Later we took our donated clothing to Operation Blessing and did some other errands around town. Tuesday - I worked on the computer today - shopping, etc. Steve did some cleaning in the bathroom and kitchen. Later we had supper at La Macarena. Wednesday - Today we wrapped Christmas presents. I am trying to get a lot of this done before I have surgery on my shoulder. Thursday - Another trip to Walmart - which almost wears us out!. Then put away stuff and relax. Tonight I made Cajun Chicken skins. It's a weight watchers recipe and we really like it. Of course its easy - which I prefer. Friday - Today we wrapped more presents. After lunch we did a few errands. Also we check out the new DG Market (Dollar General Market). Again - you have to check yourself out and I'm not for that! The contacts I ordered on Monday had arrived - so we picked them up while we were out. Saturday & Sunday - Well, I didn't jot down much in my diary -so it was very routine I guess. We watched football and walked. Then after relaxing I usually fix us some supper. My team OK State got beat 38-13! Not good. We started out good at the beginning of the season, then start going downhill from there.

Nov 21-27

Monday - After we got up we watched two TV shows and took our showers. I worked on the blog. Today was also laundry day, so that was part of our day. We walked with the dogs. They just love to go bark at all the neighborhood dogs. For supper we had pork roast, baked potatoes and veggies. Later we had berries and cool whip for our dessert.  Tuesday - This was another routine day in the life of Mary and Steve. I worked on the blog and dealt with emails. We had errands to complete in town which included getting a license tag renewed for the car and Steve got a new driver's license. It was free because he's a veteran! WooHoo! We went to Linda's beauty shop and visited for a bit and Steve figured out he didn't have his wallet - so back to the tag office and luckily some young boy had turned it in. Hallelujah!  We ate supper at Texas Roadhouse with our crew. Since we were in Stillwater, we went into Belk and Staples - checking for presents to buy. Wednesday - We returned to Stillwater for shopping. Today we went into Lowes, Big Lots, Bath n Body, Walmart and then back home.  Logan was at the house when we got home. He beat us. Then Kristi and John arrived. We had a special ornament with their engagement picture made and so we let them open it! They loved it. Tonight we let La Macarena cook and we ate. Thursday - Happy Thanksgiving! After getting up and dressed, we got the turkey breast in the oven. Then we made pink party salad, strawberry cheesecake, green bean casserole, stuffing, mashed potatoes and we had Texas Roadhouse dinner rolls! The food was great! We also had some other desserts and snacks. Dallas won their game - so that was good. Supper was leftovers.  Friday - We were a little slow getting up and around this morning. After we dressed we went to Stillwater and had lunch at Red Lobster. We did some more shopping at Ulta and Academy Outdoors. We also got some Christmas presents at Eskimo Joe's. Then it was back home to relax and watch TV. Saturday - We putzed around and watched some TV. Kristi and Logan had to return home, John left Thursday night. Some people had to work! OK State got beat in  football. I did some bill paying and we did our bookkeeping. Supper was chili! Sunday - Today we removed the sheets from the bed and put on new sheets. This is a real chore with our king size adjustable bed. It was something that I was supposed to do to prepare for surgery tomorrow. They want everything clean, including your body, clothes and sheets! We took a nice little walk and watched football. I made pizza for supper. Tomorrow is the big day! I am getting a new left shoulder!

Wild Turkeys in our neighborhood. Trying not to be Thanksgiving Dinner!

October 7, 2023 - October 31, 2022 Doctors, Routine Stuff and Football at Home!

Friday - 7th Evidently today we pretty much took it easy and putzed around. We unloaded more stuff from the RV to the House - a little at a time.  We just relaxed at home. For an FYI: We put 2,217 miles on our pickup driving this season.

Saturday - 8th Another day of doing exactly what we wanted. We watched Lottery Dream Home and Football. OU got beat by Texas and OSU played Texas Tech and won! I stopped our Dish service in the RV today.

Sunday - 9th We try to walk around the neighborhood a little each day. The dogs get so excited!. We watched Green Bay and Dallas today. Luckily Dallas won! We completed some laundry and other weekly chores. Supper was Pizza at home.

Monday - 10th I was up by 9 AM this morning. Sleeping in is great! After breakfast and getting dressed - we went to Walmart. While I was there  I got a second pneumonia shot. Nobody wants pneumonia! Then we returned home and put away all our stuff!

Tuesday 11th Our electricity went out overnight. So glad it wasn't freezing! Today's project was going to Linda's and getting my hair colored. I washed that gray away! We called Power Lift regarding our foundation repair. Steve was working on the garage door and found that it needs replaced. We had piers placed by Power Lift back in 2013. At that time they said the garage was OK and did not need any piers. Well now the garage is showing some problems - so we need them to look at it. I put in a call and set up the appointment.  We had supper at La Macarena and walked after supper.

Wednesday 12th Today we went to the VA in OKC. Steve has an appointment with pain management for his back. The check in has changed! You used to use a kiosk with your card. Now you use your cellphone and a QR code. I wonder what the government will do with all those kiosks! Waste (?) They have also changed the travel pay - now you either do it on a computer or back to paper. Is this progress? Not too sure. It sure was easy with the kiosk! Steve also got his Flu and Covid vaccines. When we finished the appointment we drove home. We also did some errands around town.

Thursday 13th - This day was paperwork and banking day. I recorded our trip expenses.  We caught up the bank statement from summer. We got some more clothes and stuff out of the RV. Now we have our trail camera set up in the back yard. Can't wait to see what we get.

Friday 14th - We were out the door about 8 ish to head to the OKC VA. Steve had two appointments. And he got to pick out new glasses! Logan and Kristi met us for lunch at Cheevers when we finished. It's a historic place near Classen Circle in OKC. It's a little expensive for lunch, but the atmosphere is nice. Steve and I had eaten here before - but it s been a few years. The building has some interesting history. At one point it was a floral shop and that floral case is still in the front of the building displaying desserts now! After we got back to Perry I got my Covid and Flu shots at the walk in event sponsored by our local drug store.

Saturday & Sunday  15 & 16  OU beat KU. We watched a great game with my team (OSU and TCU). My team OSU lost in a 2nd overtime. Sunday Green Bay lost and Dallas lost. Sometimes the teams we like don't do great!

Week of  Oct 12 - 25

Monday- Routine. tried to order a new visor for the pickup - but it got cancelled the next day. Unavailable.     Tuesday - Headed to the VA early. Steve got back injections today. We were pooped when we got back home! So we took a nap. Supper at La Macarena.     Wednesday - I had a routine doctor's appointment and lab work. All good. We also it up Schlotzy's for lunch and got a few supplies at Walmart. We watched the new season of Bosch. It's good.     Thursday - Errands around town.     Friday - More errands and banking in town. Doing some paperwork at home. It's easy to get behind.     Saturday and Sunday - We watched football and took it easy. Steve made a stand for us to use an old TV for our computer monitor.

Oct 24 - 31, 2022

Monday - Another drive to Ponca City for a Mammogram appointment. We got some rain today which is sorely needed.     Tuesday - I had my first appointment at MicBride Orthopedic Clinic. I am having an evaluation on my left shoulder. After X rays the doctor recommended I have a total Shoulder replacement. He doesn't do that surgery any more and set me up with another doctor in the clinic who can do my surgery. We had a nice supper art La Macarena with Linda and Hazel.     Wednesday - We completed some laundry today and paid a few bills. What fun!    Thursday - The guy was here from Power Lift to estimate the cost for getting the garage foundation stabilized. He was very nice and may know a guy who can get our cement repaired also. It has a big crack that has raised and is a very bad tripping hazard. We also got the oil changed in the car and it cost $70! WOW!    Friday - Shopping at Stillwater. I went to Ulta Beauty for my hair products and of course we had to go to Walmart for other items. Today we had a fox on our trail cam!     Saturday & Sunday - We watched a lot of football. My team got beat! Darn. On Sunday our grandson, Logan came up and he and Steve did some work on his Explorer. We also took him out to eat. He is a growing young man.   Monday - We were up and around early again. I returned to McBride to see the PA and meet the surgeon who will replace my Left Shoulder joint. They also had me do more X-rays, lab work and and EKG. Steve and I ate lunch at Chilis and went to REI to see about getting him shoes. We could not find his size, so we will order them online. Then we returned home.

My Left Should which is getting replaced.

Ok this catches me up through October. I will try to get the rest of the year finished with brief posts like this.
