July 13 - July 19 Back to Glacier and Celebrating Austyn's Birthday (17)

Saturday -  July 13
It rained this morning. After doing the chores and checking the Bigfork Access, Steve, Kristi and I went to downtown Bigfork. We went shopping in several stores for Austyn's birthday present. We also stopped at the drugstore and grocery store. we came back to the RV and the kids floated while Steve & I rested inside. It was hot dogs and chips for supper.

Sunday - July 14
This morning I had to get up  at 5:30 AM to let Poopsie outside. Then I went back to bed. Later we did all the routine things. All of us sat outside until about 1:00 PM. Then we came in and rested some. The kids were in the lake part of the day. Today the lake wasn't as busy as yesterday. We usually don't go too far on the week-ends. Just try to hang out here at Echo Lake and be available.

Monday - July 15
Today after doing the chores, Steve started replacing the seal on the toilet. Next we dumped trash and cleaned Bigfork access. Of course we stopped at the grocery store. Austyn slept a lot today because she had a headache  (and was grumpy). Logan and Kristi swam. I sent messages and pictures to Tony Powell - regarding a boat trailer here all weekend and also about the dock needing pulled out. I fixed soft tacos for supper and then we all watched some TV.

Tuesday - July 16
We all slept until about 9:30 this morning. Kristi helped pick up the trash in the parking lot and I did the latrine. Then Kristi unloaded her SUV and we all took off for Glacier National Park about 11 AM. We got back about 4:30 or 5:00. We stopped at McDonald Creek and I stayed in the vehicle with the dogs, while everybody else got out. Steve took some more pictures- hopefully some to be used for Austyn's senior pictures. On their way back to the vehicle - Kristi slipped on a rock and hurt her foot and leg. She was probably very lucky it wasn't broken. It rained off and on while we were at Glacier. We drove to Logan Pass and then returned to the West side. There were no places to park at Logan Pass. On our way back from Glacier - we stopped at the Huckleberry Patch for Ice Cream and sweatshirts (hoodies) for the kids. I tried to get them a hoodie at Glacier - but they didn't have any different ones than last year! After the Huckleberry Place we were headed back to the RV and Steve saw the chainsaw bear and bought one for $160.00!  This bear has a campfire and a marshmallow it is roasting - so cute. Glacier is awesome and we had a lot of fun! Later we went for pizza.

Wednesday - July 17
It rained a lot today and was cloudy all day.  We walked around the loop today and saw a deer. Steve & Logan worked on some steps from our site to the water's edge. Everybody did their own thing for lunch. Steve worked on the RV toilet again. Twice! I did some blog posts --still way behind! We had Orange chicken and rice for supper. I gave the dogs their heart worm meds today - that is tricky.  We watched Yellowstone - with Kevin Costner.  This series is  one of the things we watch during the summer.

Thursday - July 18
Today we picked up mail in town and did the Bigfork access. I mailed two bills (doctor & lab). We checked out a restaurant and went to the grocery store for cake and ice cream. Tonight we are going to celebrate Austyn's 17th birthday early.  Back to the RV. We messed around in the afternoon. We found out that we couldn't eat at Bigfork - so we decided to go to the Italian place at Kalispell for the birthday supper. We let Austyn open her presents from us before supper. I drove us to Kalispell and we ate at Scotibelli's.  They seated us  pretty quick because we had reservations, but the service was very slow. We finally got our food and it wasn't real hot (temperature). It tasted good - but was only slightly hotter than lukewarm. The cost was $88 and we only drank water. We would not return. We got back to the RV after I almost killed at the Bigfork flashing light - yellow left turn arrow. Anyway - we survived because Steve said stop, and I stopped! to celebrate - we had carrot cake and chocolate ice cream - which was very yummy!

Friday - July 19
We got up a little after 8 AM. Tony Powell called and said he would be by later to pull out the dock. So we quickly did chores and walked the dogs. Steve was weed eating  the triangle area and I was in the parking lot picking up trash when he pulling in. The game warden also came by this morning. When Tony left we all went back to Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast. I ordered Biscuits and Gravy - it was lumpy. Austyn got sick - Steve & Logan couldn't finish their breakfast. After we got back to the RV, Kristi and the kids finished loading their vehicle and left about 12:30 or so. We said goodbye and drive safe. It was a little sad for them to leave. Steve & I and the dogs are now alone. We watched Judge Judy, then the Game Warden (Justin)  returned and we visited with him. The game warden said his boss got some complaints about noise & wake - so he will return tomorrow. We ate some leftovers, watched TV and then went to bed.

July 6 - July 12, 2019 Jewel Basin, Polebridge and Conrad Mansion

Saturday - July 6
It was overcast and cool this morning. After doing the routine things we sat outside for awhile. Later we had Turkey Bacon and Eggs for Brunch. It finally got sunny and the kids got to float in the lake. We sat outside until we got too hot then came inside the RV and rested. Supper was smoked sausage and fried potatoes. We walked the loop road and then watched our last episode of Longmire.

Sunday - July 7
Austyn drove us to Bigfork to our fishing access site and we cleaned it up good. We stopped at the grocery store and the trash site. It rained off and on or was overcast most of the day. We just sat around. Later we had soft tacos for supper. Then we drove the kids and the dogs up to Jewel Basin--Camp Misery to look around. We all walked and explored a bit. It is a really pretty place and you get some great views of Flathead Lake and Flathead Valley as you go up the forest road.

Monday - July 8
This was a routine morning around here. The trash needed to be hauled off, then we stopped at Gardner's RV for a toilet gasket. We were very brave and went to Walmart (which almost killed us)! After getting home and unloading our stuff, Steve & I napped. Kristi and the kids floated. We fixed supper and watched Ninja Warrior.

Tuesday - July 9
Today my Mom would have been 100 if she were still alive. I still miss her. After our routine duties we picked up trash on the entry road. Everyone got dressed and we stopped for gas and ice then headed up to Polebridge. I wanted everyone to get a Huckleberry Bear Claw. There was road work on Highway 2 - so we re-routed at Columbia Falls and took Highway 486. It was a gravel road most of the way. We arrived at Polebride about 12:30 and had a half of a sandwich and 1/2 of a Huckleberry Bearclaw. They were both delicious. We went on in to Glacier National Park and enjoyed a beautiful drive. Steve took some pictures of Austyn by an old cabin in GNP. He is trying to take some Senior pictures for her. We returned back through GNP on Camas Road. Then we stopped at the Huckleberry Place in Hungry Horse and got Ice cream.  The best place to get Huckleberry Ice Cream and lots of other stuff! I love this store. We got home about 4:30 or 5:00 PM.  When we got back to the RV - we noticed a car parked on on 2 BIG rocks entering the parking lot the wrong way. In order to report this to our boss, I took some pictures.. Since we were all hungry we went to town and ate pizza. Finally I called the non-emergency number for the sheriff to report this car,  after I left a message for our boss. All of us were pooped and we went to bed soon after getting back to the RV.

Wednesday - July 10
This morning we cut our walk short because there was a dog loose in the road where we usually walk. After doing our chores we loaded the laundry and went to town. It took about 2 1/2 hours to do the laundry. Next we picked up trash at the Bigfork access. We ate lunch at the Mexican Place near the laundry. I wasn't too happy with my lunch and again the service wasn't great. I don't plan to eat here again.  We returned to the RV and put away stuff. Steve installed Kristi's new car battery and cleaned out the back of his pickup. We also re-made the bed (clean sheets)! Later Krist and Austyn went driving so Austyn could practice.  Some had ham & cheese sandwiches for supper and later we had a campfire and S'mores. I was good for once and skipped the S'mores.

Thursday - July 11
It rained overnight. Steve woke up at 4:30 AM for some unknown reason so he picked up the trash. He said he might have slept a little bit also. Then we walked the dogs and cleaned the latrine. A few other things we took care of: dumping the black tank, re-leveling the RV. We keep having to jump start the RV, not sure what is draining the battery. We sat outside til we got hot then watched TV. Tonight's supper was pork chops, baked beans and chips. I put the TENS unit on Steve so his back would feel better tomorrow.

Friday - July 12
Steve did some more weed eating and picked up the trash before I got up. After doing our other chores everyone cleaned up a bit. All of us but Steve went to Kalispell and toured the Conrad Mansion. I think Steve was tired of riding and just wanted to stay home. We left about 10:15 and got home about 3:30. This  Mansion was built by the man who founded Kalispell. It was a nice tour and the house had many interesting features - including a porch with a little stream next to the dining room. They didn't allow pictures - which was not great. Kristi and the Kids and I all enjoyed it and ate lunch at Costa Vida. It is a fast food Mexican buffet. I like to eat there.  Supper was burgers on the griddle.
