Tuesday we went to Ponca City for my routine doctor appointment and also did a Walmart run for supplies.
Wednesday the 24th, we went to the VA. Steve had two eye appointments and the first one was at 10:00 AM. That means we got up pretty early and got on the road by 8:00 or 8:30 AM. Anyway, I was sleepy - We were in the waiting room a long time - I told Steve if I started to snore - wake me up! When I got up to go to the restroom - I saw a friend who used to work for me at Wheatheart Nutrition. It was Janet - who was our site manager at Blackwell, OK. She and I had a great visit and made a plan to get together for lunch sometime! Anyway it made my time pass faster, getting to visit. Steve got his eye check done and they ordered new glasses for him. He is supposed to return in January to see how the glasses are doing.
We got home and rested a bit then started gathering and packing things for the upcoming RV trip to Arkansas.
Thursday the 25th - we finished packing the RV. It was raining - not fun! We decided not to have Steve go up on the roof and put the satellite dish in place. In fact, we stopped at Camping World in OKC and tried to buy a portable Tailgator satellite dish to ensure Steve doesn't have to keep getting up on the roof. Guess what? They did not have any in stock. So we drove on to El Reno and set up the RV. Then we drove the pickup into town to Kristi's house to wait for Irene (his sister from Amarillo) to arrive. After she got there we loaded her stuff into the pickup and we all went to eat Pizza and Ice Cream for supper. After that we returned to the RV and got settled in for the night. Of course our dogs did not know Irene and so they were troublesome getting acquainted with her. Finally, they settled in for the night and by the next morning the dogs were starting to accept her.
Friday was sunny - Better for travel |
We got up Friday morning and hooked the pickup back up to the RV and got ourselves ready to travel. We left about 11:00 AM and headed east to Arkansas. We stopped for the night at Fort Smith, AR and I thought we could stay at a Corp of Engineers park - but we pulled in & they were full. Duh, I had not made any reservations. So I called a private park - they didn't have any vacancy either. Next I tried to get us to the military park - but the road did not work. So I found an RV Park at a Golf Course, Eagle Crest Golf Course & RV Park. They were very nice and had plenty of room - and it only cost $25.00. We were almost lonely there, only one other RV was there. It was a nice RV park and a good deal.
Saturday, we got up and walked our dogs and putzed around then hit the road. We got to Pine Bluff about 3 PM and got the RV set up in a pull through site at a park not far from where Steve's other sister, Terry lived. It was also $25.00 per night. It was a nice spot - but we were the only travelers there I think. Most of the rest looked like they lived there and worked. The owner was very nice and we were fine with it. Oh, I almost forgot, it was pretty warm and the mosquitos were lively. We went and met up with Steve's sister and her man then took the whole bunch to a Chinese buffet. They were happy we came.
Irene, Steve, Terry |
On Sunday we took everybody to lunch at Chili's to celebrate Terry's birthday! Then we made a trip to Walmart for a few things. After that it was officially nap time! In the evening we all went for Ice Cream and I got a few pictures of Steve with his sisters.
