August 1 - 15, 2023 More Dog Days of Summer!

Aug 1 - Tuesday-On the first day of the month we report the car count to our boss and clear the counter. So we did that as we headed out on our walk. We got around pretty good today and left for Walmart about 9:30 AM and arrived back to the RV by 12:15. We had snacks for lunch after putting away the supplies. The electricity went out about 3:00 PM but it was back on at 4:00 PM. I had a nice visit with Linda today. By 5:00 PM it was 87°. Don’t let anyone tell you that it doesn’t get hot in Montana. Our supper was Taco Salad and mixed berries with cool whip.

I think a few good ole boys had a fishing tournament.Taken at 10:22 PM

Aug 2 - Wednesday - We were up a little earlier today about 7:30. I am not sure why. After the routine morning things were finished we  put bleach through the water lines. We had been noticing that funny smell in the bathroom sink. That made a big difference. I did bill paying and talked to Hazel about our mail. It was 95° at 5:00 PM. Since it was pretty hot, we just ate cheese and crackers for supper and berries later.

Aug 3 - Thursday -My extra duty today was to walk the beach north of us. I was surprised because there was not much trash to be picked up. Steve got some rocks from near the dock to add to the steps he made. I talked to my sister and sent Kristi a text. Hazel is mailing us a package. And it is still hot.

Aug 4, -Friday-Today I visited with the boat volunteers. Tony P called to see how thing were going about 3 PM. We went into town to the hardware store and the grocery store. I noticed the game warden was here about 5:15. The game wardens we have this year have not really visited or checked in with us. But that is OK. Hopefully, we don’t have any problems that need their attention.

Aug 5-Saturday-Even though it has been hot in the afternoons, the mornings are lovely. We sat outside and enjoyed nature. We  also changed the string filter on the outside. Tony P was here and put up Stage 2 fire restriction signs. I turned in our timesheets (they call them time rolls here). After lunch we walked up on the loop road.

Aug 6 - Sunday-We slept in a bit this morning because it was raining. Sydney came by while we were doing chores. So we visited with her some. We monitored the parking lot and walked it twice today. Since it was somewhat cooler I made chili for supper.

There is a deer in this picture!

Aug 7 -Monday-I guess we got up and went back to bed for awhile. We were walking late and met up with Sydney on the road. Then we did our chores and hauled the trash off. While we were in town we stopped at the grocery store. It seems that we always need something.

Steve & Buster. Buster likes to help drive!

Aug 8-Tuesday-Today’s big activity is hairLaundry. We were on that  pretty good and finished by 12:15. We had lunch at the RV and then relaxed after putting away the clothes. Later I put color on my hair. I hate doing it. I want my hair not gray - but I really like to have Linda do it, not me. But when we are in Montana, I must do it myself! Supper was Pork chops, Rice, green beans and berries.

Aug 9-Wednesday -After our routine chores we sat outside and researched tow bars and the reddy brake. We have figured out that our tow bar is probably about 15 years old and they should be replaced after about 10 years. So we are going to get a new one. It rained from 4:00 to 6:30 PM. Tonight we watched Jesse Stone Movies.

Aug 10-Thursday-After our morning chores were finished we went to Kalispell. We went to REI, Kohl’s, and Sportmans’ Ski Haas looking for Steve some shoes. We struck out. So we did a Walmart run and went back to the RV. We had a late lunch.  There may be a deer in the first picture. The 2nd one is our new great-grandaughter. We had a beautiful sunset and saw an eagle on our way to Kalispell.

Aug 11-Friday -Our boss, Tony P was out her about 12:30. We monitored the site and walked the parking lot about two times. It was a beautiful day, 80° and blue skies! At home, we call those Chamber of Commerce Days! LOL

Another beautiful sunset

Blogger misaligned the above typing!

Aug 12-Saturday-This Saturday is shore clean-up along rivers and lakes. I think it is a national clean-up day. The boat volunteers came and did the areas we don’t usually pick up. They were pretty pleased, because there is not that much trash to be picked up. People are doing better! Tony P was hear a short time about 12:30. I was in and out monitoring the parking lot etc. Later we went to town and got our supper at Dairy Queen.

Aug 13-Sunday-I didn’t note much down today. I guess it was pretty routine. We did sit at the top of the hill and monitor parking from 1:30 to 2:30.

Aug 14-Monday-We got up at 8:15 and putzed around until about 10 AM. Then we sat outside after doing our chores. Later we went to town to haul off the trash and get a few extra groceries. There were lots of people here today (on a Monday - weird). There was at UTV parked in the grass between the parking lot and the outhouse. We left them a nice note and said this is not a parking place. Please  do not park here again. We had sloppy joes and chips for supper. It was 90° at 6:15 - hot again.

Note to ATV improperly parked!

These Yahoos think they can just park anywhere!  Not on our watch!

Logan at Basic Training

Aug 15-Tuesday-We finished our chores and sat outside til 11:45. Then we just watched TV and relaxed in the afternoon. It was hot again, 96° at 5:45. We are ready for this heat to break. When it is hot, we just eat snacks for supper - like cheese and crackers or peanut butter on toast. Then berries with cool whip to cool us off.
