October 10, 2014, Friday
After the morning routine we decided to check out the remaining covered bridges. First we went to Roseman Covered Bridge. It is in an idyllic setting and has a gift shop. We bought "The Movie" and 2 t-shirts along with a magnet. On our drive to town we saw 5 or 6 pheasants and 2 deer. We crossed over a lovely stream, took some pictures there. Next we went to Hogback Covered Bridge and the Stone School house-- it was tricky finding it due to road construction and traffic on the gravel roads.
Then a stop in Winterset for a pop. After a brief rest and map check we decided the best way to get to the last bridge was by driving down the interstate. We saw the Imes Covered Bridge and then drove the country road back to Winterset. We toured the 4-room John Wayne Birthplace house (not much of a tour) and enjoyed seeing the photos. They are building a new museum--ready next year.
Then we returned to the RV and fixed supper. Steve made a fire and we cooked chicken and potatoes outside. Later after getting the fire going again (difficult with damp wood) we had S'mores. The last thin we did was watch Bridges of Madison County. We enhoyed the movie and discussion of it afterward.
