September 3 through Sept 9, 2018 Getting Ready to Leave

Look close and you will see the owl!
We saw the owl again last night on our evening walk.

We did all our usual chores on Monday and Tuesday. Steve wasn't feeling good  on Monday so we put the TENS unit on his back. We saw 2 deer at the Latrine in the evening.
Two Deer

Tuesday I colored my hair!  Tried to wash out that gray! Steve lubricated out gray water vale handle and we also drove to Gardiner RV near Kalispell to buy a new outdoor shower faucet - then Steve fixed that.
A cutting horse facility that we see every time we go to Bigfork
Wednesday and Thursday were also routine. Except we did do laundry on Thursday. We spent some time calling about lots that are for sale in western Montana out by St. Regis.
Friday walked along the north end of Echo Lake and did our chores. We could not get a hold of our manager, Tony to figure out how to return the keys, etc. It's OK we will call him Monday.
On Saturday we enjoyed a nice fire, last one of the season and started packing things for travel.

Sunday was busy getting everything ready for travel. And putting things away!

Chained to the tree - the way we found it.

I forgot these pictures from yesterday!  Or got tired of trying to upload pics to the blog!

In looking back at my calendar notes for this week - the notes are not too good, but the pictures refresh my memory.

Monday on our walk we saw deer! It was overcast and the clouds make great pictures! We did the routine stuff. Tuesday was pretty much the same- Echo Lake is always pretty and we love to take pictures of it!

Wednesday was a big day for us - we drove to Glacier National Park and then on up to Polebridge, Mt. They have world famous Huckleberry Bear Claws! And they were delicious. We got to Glacier and stopped at the visitor center - I bought some souvenirs for people at home and we let the dogs walk a little. The smoke was still there, but it was not difficult to breathe. We checked out Apgar campground and Apgar Village. The pictures tell the story.
Flathead River near Columbia Falls - hazy
Then we headed on  up to Polebridge. The drive was very pleasant and it was a place we had not been.

Thursday we spoke to the boss - Tony and told him we would probably leave Sept 7 or 10th.  He said that would be fine. We asked I'm about  coming back next year and he said they would be happy to have us back.  We can let him know in the spring.  It was another beautiful evening at Echo Lake.

Friday evening it started getting busy for Labor Day weekend, other than that, it was a routine day.
Saturday we saw deer and turkey on our little drive.
Sunday we slept late and took a short walk. We defrosted the refrigerator and then drove to Kalispell for supplies. It was pretty busy when we returned.  I even forgot to check the latrine today! We remedied that after we put away our groceries.

This is the Fishing/Boating Access in town at Bigfork!

Getting Older! August 20 through August 26, 2018

Monday we were lucky and it rained! Yea! This helped the smoke lessen and slowed the fires down.  We walked and did the chores. Then we hauled off the trash and checked Bigfork Access. We also picked up some groceries in town.  A regular day.  Deer we saw on our walks!
Tuesday - I ordered some meds for Steve. I paid some bills, we walked and later in the evening we drove to Jewel Basin.  On our way up the Jewel Basin road a black bear crossed the road in front of us. We were glad to be in the pickup. Steve immediately asked me if we were going to walk where we were going. I said "of course, that is why I brought the bear spray." We drove on up to the trailhead and parked. I took a lot of pictures and we hiked up the trail a short ways. We didn't come early enough to go far up the trail. But we enjoyed the peacefulness of the trail. The dogs were ecstatic about this jaunt.

Wednesday - We did all the usual things and also went to Walmart in Kalispell. When I got home - I had to take a nap! Walmart is so tiring!

Thursday - Again, basically a routine day! We did go and do laundry! Then we ate at the Mexican place next door, it is a great place to eat. We also cleaned Bigfork Access.  I am pretty sure I took a nap when we got home. Naps are addicting.

Friday - the skies were clearing today - blue skies are so lovely! Another routine beautiful day at Echo Lake. In the evening, we drove around and spotted deer.

What is left of the sign!

Saturday - Today was Pam's birthday, so I called her and visited. We also did our routine chores and activities. We also went to the post office and I got a card & present from Kristi and the kids.  we finished we drove to a place on the Swan Lake Highway and looked at an acreage for our friend Martina. It was a really nice drive and it was off the highway about 3 -4 miles. The first part of the drive was nice and the last mile or so was a little rough. It was about an acre and it had utilities.  The cost was $49,000 and it would have needed a lot of clean-up work! But we enjoyed checking it out and sending her the information.

Sunday - Today was my birthday! I turned a year older! WOW! Steve gave me a nice flower, a card and a yummy chocolate cupcake. We had lunch at Echo Lake Cafe to celebrate! The food there was good and the portions were huge!  I had calls to wish me a Happy Birthday, which I appreciated! Steve and I ate the cupcake with ice cream for our supper. Great Day!
