August 13 through August 19, 2018

This week started out with the routine things here at Echo Lake - Walk, Chores, etc. A fire started at Glacier National Park on the 11th of August, called the Howe Ridge Fire -it caused evacuations in the park and SMOKE!.  The Going to the Sun Road was closed from the west side of Glacier NP to Logan's Pass. We are about 30 - 35 miles south of the park- but the smoke made it here. Of course we have been going to drive to Glacier ever since we got here - but have been putting it off. We will try to go later, hopefully the smoke will die down.  We drove to Kalispell and went to Walmart and had lunch while we were there also. We tried a new to us place: Costa Vida - a fast food Mexican place. We liked it! Today we also put in a new water filter- it was time!
Tuesday - we did the regular stuff plus hauled our trash off and we checked the Bigfork fishing access site.  The employed FWP people were there and they had done the work. So we said hi and went on about our business.
This wheat is ready to be cut!

Wednesday - After our routine stuff Steve  added some transmission fluid to our reservoir for the jacks. They have been retracting and we will get them check when we get home. There were some people here at the access site that parked their Winnebago Winnie trailer here for awhile. I went and talked to them to ensure that they didn't plan to stay overnight.  They didn't, they were on their way to Idaho. They dropped their trailer so he could go for a run and whatever... Anyway they were nice and moving on through. This is a fishing/boating access and there is no overnight camping allowed, except for us - the camp hosts!
A cute way to keep track of which National Parks you have visited
Thursday - More of the same.  A deer that we saw on our walk!

Friday - We did our routine things and checked the Bigfork Access sites. We mailed cards to Nancy and Pam.
On Saturday the Game Warden was here about 3 hours. He puts his boat in and patrols the lake. Sometimes he just gives warnings, because he is tired of bad interactions. There was a boat trailer parked here again - so I took pictures of it and the tag and texted them to him. He must have contacted them, because it was gone the next morning.

Another deer we saw when we  were walking

Sunday was routine at the beginning. It was a busy afternoon. We have figured out that Sunday afternoon seems to be the busiest day for swimmers and floaters!
Pretty Evening

Look closely and you will see the owl that came flying around in the loop area and landed on that stump of a tree! Very interesting sighting to us!

Geese on the lake!
