July 20 - July 26, 2019 Routines and Trails

Saturday - July 20
After doing our routine stuff Steve put some nails in the tool shed wall to hang up tools. We smashed cans and sat outside. I visited with the boat education volunteers. The game warden was here from about 11 AM to 5 PM. We just snacked for lunch and rested in the afternoon. I fixed turkey bacon, eggs and hash browns for supper. Later we watched TV and went to bed.

Sunday - July 21
We got around a little earlier today and drove to Walmart at Kalispell . We left about 10:30 AM and got back by 1:00 PM. Steve's back was hurting so we didn't do a lot this  afternoon. The game warden was here again from 1 PM to 7 PM. I fixed supper on the griddle - chicken, hash browns, squash, salad, fresh strawberries. We walked around the loop part way. I also completed a blog and Steve finished repairing another day/night shade (the one by his recliner chair).

Monday - July 22
Steve got up about 6 and I slept til 8. We had our breakfast and walked and completed the chores. Next on the agenda was the laundry. Tony (boss) called about 12:30 while we were at the laundry and asked how the weekend was. I told him about the Game Wardens being here and the docks that were unloading this morning ( a commercial entity that may or may not have had a permit). After laundry we cleaned the Bigfork access. We came home and unloaded laundry and rested. Next we walked our dogs again. We walked  to the stop sign and picked up trash. We went for a drive with the dogs and found a forest trail with a lovely stream. Then back home for a snack of hot dogs, chips and berries. A guy from Canada wants to leave his boat & trailer overnight. I told him OK - but we would not be responsible - put a lock on it.

Tuesday  - July 23
The usual - what would we do without routines? It got hot  so we stayed inside most of the afternoon. I asked two different bunches of people to get off the dock - The lake was busy beacuase it's sunny and warm. About 6:00 PM we went to town for Pizza- in came a thunderstorm and by the time we got back to the RV it was 66 degrees. We watched 3 episodes of Longmire today. I also worked on the blog and Steve sprayed some weeds.

Wednesday - July 24
Today we were up a little earlier than usual and walked the loop after breakfast. Steve did his back exercises and we did the chores. We had to return to Kalispell Walmart to pick up my meds. Since we were going that way we took the RV engine battery to Auto Zone to get tested. It tested OK but had no charge. They charged it up for free.  That was nice. We had lunch back at the RV and I had a little nap. I fixed us a hamburger for supper along with some strawberries and chips. We watched Yellowstone and Jag.

 Thursday - July 25
It was 53 degrees this morning, so we slept a little later. I even turned on the heat for a bit. Today we saw our Game Warden, Justin. He was out here doing a little fishing to recover from having company. We stocked the refrigerator with drinks, then went to town to clean the Bigfork Access. After we got back to the RV we had a sandwich, chips, and yogurt for lunch. We went back to town later for ice cream - sometimes you can't resist ice cream. We watched TV and turned in later.

Friday - July 26
After our routine stuff today, we took showers. Steve sprayed weeds and this afternoon I worked on the blog for awhile. We watched TV this afternoon. I educated some people about staying off the dock and not jumping or swimming in the boat ramp area. They moved on. I fixed a pretty good supper of pork chops, cheesy potatoes, salad and ice cream.

Montana has public fishing/boat access sites all over. We are camp hosts here at Echo Lake. Most of the access sites do not have hosts. These access sites are provided  by the fishing license fees. There is camping at some sites (probably no hook-ups). But our site has full hook-ups. Our volunteer duties are to keep the outdoor latrine clean and supplied with paper, pick up trash in the parking lot, weed eat and be a presence. We also clean the access site in the town of Bigfork - about 8 miles away. We try to educate some folks about the dangers of the dock in regards to jumping and swimming by it.  Some listen - some ignore.
