May 18 - May 24, 2020 Headed Northwest to Echo Lake, Montana

Mon - May 18
Today after we got up and around we prepared for travel. About 10 AM we left Strasburg, CO and drove through Denver. The traffic was not bat at all. I credit the quarantine/lockdown for that. We crossed the Wyoming line about lunch time so we stopped at their very nice rest stop and walked the dogs, ate lunch and rested. Then we moved on north to Wheatland, WY and stopped for gas. Our final stop was Casper, WY. We stayed at the same place as last year. I fixed us some turkey bacon and eggs for supper. We are mainly just trying to move straight through to our final destination, all because of COVID-19.  We are limiting our exposure and have just kept moving.

Going through Denver

More Denver!

Tues - May 19
We got up and did all the usual morning routines. I also fixed my hair so I could attend my WW Zoom meeting. Then we disconnected our utilities and went to the Casper Walmart. We needed some supplies and Walmart has a big enough parking lot we can park the RV and tow vehicle there and get the items we need. Next we were headed north! It was a beautiful day with blue skies and lovely views. I saw lots of Pronghorns- but they stand too far from the highway for me to get good pictures. We had lunch at Buffalo, WY. It was kind of weird. We had been going into fast food places and picking up our food to take to the RV and eat. But in this town, we could not go inside, so we walked through the drive through and got our meals. Everywhere you go- the rules are different for how to handle the Corona Virus. Anyway we survived. We stopped for the day in Billings MT. After we checked in we enjoyed the outdoors! We walked the dogs and played miniature golf. The Billings KOA is expensive, but it is a pretty good stop. The Yellowstone River is accessible from the park and Logan went down and looked it over. The grass was green and soft, so that made the dogs happy. We saw lots of baby geese with their parents too! It was a nice evening.

Wed - May 20
This morning I called Direct TV and put it on vacation mode until Sept 30, 2020. That was a process. But I got it done. We walked to the river and enjoyed checking it out. About 9:30 we were on the road and Steve drove us from Billings, MT to Deer Lodge, MT. We tried to go to Wendy's in Bozeman, but couldn't find it. Then we went to Belgrade (8 miles further) and found the Wendy's. But again we couldn't go in to pick up food- so we scratched that idea. We parked in the street and the guys ate leftover pizza while I had a sandwich. Then we finished the day at Deer Lodge. We stayed at Indian Creek RV Park (stayed here last year too). We basically stayed the exact same places as last year on this trip. We had a nice walk around the place and I made chili for supper.

Thu - May 21
Today after we had breakfast and walked the dogs, off we went. I messed up on the navigation and sent us on I-90 a little too far. We got off at Bonner and took MT 200 to MT 83 to Echo Lake. It was another beautiful drive. We arrived at Echo Lake about 1:30 or 2:00. First we unhooked the pickup, for the first time since we left home! Next was getting the RV backed in and positioned where we can get a good satellite signal. Then we ran the water 30 minutes- so it would be clear after being shut off all winter. We got all the utilities hooked up. Also we set up the picnic table, put out the mat, got the RV level and finally got everything fixed up for now. Later we went to town (Bigfork) and ate pizza and went to the grocery store. It seems like people here in Bigfork do not seem too concerned about the Corona Virus. It appears to be: Business as Usual.
Such a beautiful view!

Fri - May 22
Today the high temperature was 49-52 degrees. We stayed inside until 10 am then cleaned the bathroom and picked up trash after our walk. Tony Powell (our boss) called and said he would be down after lunch. I fixed us Turkey bacon and eggs for lunch. When Tony got here he said - officially we are quarantined til June 1, when Montana goes to Phase 2. OK, will do. But he also said he was not going to be the quarantine police. He explained the procedure for using the spray disinfectant in the bathroom, use of masks, etc.  He also said the regular workers would do the trash and bathroom cleanup until June 1. We walked the dogs and ate leftover pizza for supper.

Sat - May 23
We got up a little late. We ate breakfast and walked the dogs. We hauled off our trash and went to the hardware store and grocery store. I made turkey burgers for lunch and we had chips and yogurt also. The guys worked on a wood pile and made us some firewood. So we had a campfire and made S'mores! Yum! Supper was mainly just snacks or as Logan says: "Every Man For Himself."

Sun - May 24
Again we slept in, and got up about 9:30. We walked our dogs after breakfast. The Game Warden (Justin) was here a few hours, so we visited with him. He gave a few warnings and a ticket in the parking lot, then finally went out in his boat. We didn't hear how the boat excursion went. We walked the loop and sat outside. I fixed chicken vegetable soup for supper. We will have enough leftover for another meal! Yea! Less cooking for me. We have just been taking it easy since we are in a little bit of lockdown. We did check the bathroom though.
