August 2 - 15, 2021 August has arrived!

It rained more overnight (Mon Aug 2). So we did all the usual things here at Echo Lake. We headed to Kalispell and went to Target and Walmart. Since we were there we picked up lunch at Chic Fil A.  These are our pictures from the drive to Strawberry Lake Trailhead.

Tuesday We  did more of the same.

The deer we saw on our drive, Wednesday  3rd

Wednesday Steve sprayed weeds in the parking lot. When he was done, I drove us up to West Glacier and picked up some souvenirs at the Glacier National Park Conservatory. We let the dogs ride along and so we drove down a forest road to do a little exploring. Thursday, Steve had a backache so we didn’t do much. I put the TENS unit on him after lunch so he could feel better. Tony Powell was here today. We visited with him and later went to town for Pizza at Rosa’s (supper).

People having fun

The girl on the paddleboard is standing on her head. I caught her as she was coming down. Youth is wasted on the young!

Friday we did all the routine things. About supper time a guy knocked on the door and wanted to charge his phone. So I showed him the plug in on the side of the RV. I didn’t realize that he also left his kayak on the edge of the lake below us. When we got up on Saturday, the kayak was gone and we didn’t think anything about it. We thought he had already retrieved it. So we went on about our day. Steve started researching the problem with our front jack. After lunch the guy returned and inquired about his Kayak. I told him it was gone this morning and we didn’t know he left his Kayak, and therefore didn’t watch it.

The beautiful sky

Saturday, the 7th a nice older guy pulled into the boat launch chute and then his pickup wouldn’t start. So he was stuck there. Steve and I directed traffic and told everyone to be patient. It all worked out and a tow truck came to pull him out. Steve helped him and his wife get the boat attached to her pickup and  it all turned out great.

Sunday it rained some in the morning. Again we did all the regular things.

Monday’s highlight was picking up the mail package from home. We did all the regular things which includes a walk, and chores here and in town at the access site in Bigfork.

We have a restriction on campfires. But when we walked the beach, look at what some kids made. Little fake campfires!

Tuesday it was time to do laundry again and when we finished we had lunch at the Grateful Bread. We both had our favorite dish, Quiche and it was yummy! Tonight we walked down by the north beach, and an Osprey was there. He seemed to be in distress. We called the game warden and did some watchful waiting. We noticed later that evening that he wasn’t there anymore. the game warden called us the next morning, but we told him the bird was gone about 9:30 last night. So hopefully that turned out great for the Osprey.

Sunset on Tuesday

Another trial of a moon shot

Not much was eventful on Wednesday.

Me, before Haircut

Huge pink floating thing. You have seen the young people trying to get the air out to roll it out.

On Thursday we went to Kalispell to get supplies at Walmart. We made a pretty quick trip, it only took about 3 hours. We drove down by Ferndale and took the dogs on a walk on a forest road. They love to go exploring. Friday the 13th-we had a routine day and no bad luck! Saturday was beach cleanup day for Flathead county (maybe all of Montana). The boat volunteers were here and picked up trash. Of course we did our regular trash pickup and bathroom chores. We also walked the road outside the gate and picked up trash.

Moon reflecting on Echo Lake 14th of August

Sunday the 15th it was 94 degrees at 6 PM. When it is this hot in Montana, we just do our routine things and then take it easy. Ready Freddy finally showed up and cleaned out the outdoor toilet! Man are we glad. It was getting pretty full and stinky when the wind was in the right direction. We did go to town and get some ice cream for us and some to share with the dogs! We do spoil our dogs!
