Sept 30 - Friday - We attached the pickup last night so this morning we only had to unhook the utilities put in the slides and raise the jacks before take-off. Of course we also ate breakfast and walked the dogs. Our first stop was to get gas at Cody. We finally found a Shell station and the price posted was cash, which I did not notice. So I said something to the attendant when she strolled outside and she gave me a smart remark about that being the cash price. Well OK - pooh on you too! We were out of Cody by 9:15 AM - really good for us. We drove through Thermopolis, and then came the beautiful Wind River Canyon. We have driven this route before and I am alway amazed by the beauty of the Canyon. We saw some guys fly fishing, which looks so relaxing. We arrived at Douglas, WY about 2;30 PM and stayed at the KOA there. We walked our dogs and completed our hookups and started relaxing.

This cowboy sculpture has 307 on the shoulder. That is Wyoming's area code - Only one for the whole state! |
Oct 1 - Saturday We made all our preparations and went looking for gas. Nothing was convenient. So We drove south on I -25 and stopped at Glendo for gas. We went inside for a snack and this guy came in and asked if we could give him a jump. Mind you we are in the RV and towing the pickup. But Steve is so nice and we pulled around in front of him, blocking some traffic if anyone needed to get out. Our battery bank in on the passenger side of the RV by the door so that is not real convenient. But we got him started. We think the guy needs a new alternator. Then we were on our way. We saw lots of Pronghorns and they obliged me by standing near enough to the highway that I could take their picture. We crossed into Colorado at 12:10 PM and started our drive through the Denver traffic. It is always nerve wracking! Besides the traffic in Denver, there was also road construction to contend with. Steve did a great job. I tried to get us in at the Air Force Academy Famcamp - but they were full. I think it was because of a football game. We drove on down to the Colorado Springs KOA and arrived at 4:30 PM. This place is pretty busy and they are already decorated for Halloween. We did our hookups and walked the dogs. We were able to relax and had some chili for supper.

Oct 2 - Sunday After making all our preparations to leave, We gassed up at Love's on the access road. We made a stop at the Pueblo Walmart for supplies. Then we were back on the road. We traveled US 50 heading east. You go through a lot of small towns, but the road is pretty good. We stopped at Lamar, CO for the night. We watched TV and rested.

One of the decorations we saw when we walked the dogs. I believe it was a tent that had been ransacked by a spook! LOL |
Oct 3 - Monday We ate breakfast and walked the dogs. Then we did all our preparations to get on the road. Steve added oil and transmission fluid to the RV. Today we were in three states, CO, OK, TX. We drove through the panhandle of Oklahoma and then south to Amarillo, TX. We got gas at the Boise City Love's station. It was a little tricky getting maneuvered through there. Then we moved on to Amarillo and arrived there about 3:45. Our RV Park was The Big Texan RV Ranch. They give a Veterans discount. The first site they sent us to would not let us get satellite TV - so we asked to move and they obliged us. Nice folks. We got set up and walked the dogs. We also disconnected the pickup so we could pick up Steve's sister, Irene and take her to supper. We ate at the Texas Roadhouse and it was great as always. We made it back to the RV at 8:45 PM and were were pooped.

A wreck we were glad not to be a part of. It did take a minute to get through. |
Oct 4 - Tuesday we were up at 8:30 or so. After Breakfast and walking the dogs we got ready to leave. We gassed up at Amarillo before leaving. It was about 11:00 AM when we headed east on I-40. We crossed the Oklahoma line at 12:20 PM. We didn't stop until we got to Yukon. Here we stayed at the Mustang Run RV Park. The kids moved to Yukon - so we are not staying at the lake in El Reno this trip. This is a nice RV Park - but it is right next to I-40 - so there is some traffic noise. We freshened up and also walked our dogs. Then Kristi, John and Logan picked us up for supper. We ate at Hideaway Pizza. It was great as usual. Then is was back to the RV to rest and relax.

I hope the video works! Poopsie was so happy to walk on cement instead of gravel and grass with stickers!
Oct 5 - Wednesday - Today is our 20th Anniversary. We got up at 8:30 or so and had a nice leisurely start to the day. I called Direct TV to turn on our TV at home. We basically just putzed around the RV and took showers. We went out to supper with the kids again. Austyn joined us and we ate at Charleston's in OKC. We got home about 9:00 PM. All in all a lovely day.

Oct 6 - Thursday After having an easy morning we prepared to leave. We left about 11AM and got home about 1;30 PM. So we unpacked som stuff out of the RV. Then we rested. Notified everyone we were home safe and sound .It took awhile for the air conditioner to cool the house off. We put in a call to the air conditioner people - but they never called us back. Anyway we found the red button on the outside unit and then it started cooling us off. Yea! We at at La Macarena tonight.
