Worked at the Brig today. Had a better day than the previous days!
June 30, 2015 - Tuesday
Today was the 5th day in a row we worked at the Brig. We did not have too many visitors to the Brig today. After work we decided to go look for a Flagpole that was on the other side of the park. It was from the days when the park was a Naval Training Station. We found it! It is hidden in trees north of the remote control airplane flying field. A guy had told be about the flagpole and it just really whetted my interest to go find it. Next we just drove around that side more and checked out the equestrian camp.
Then we went to Athol and got some ice cream and cereal and milk for the kids to eat for breakfast tomorrow. We also stopped at the visitor's centerand bought Kristi a park pass. We kind of hung around the other side of the park because we needed a good signal on the phone so we could meet up with Kristi when they arrived!
Kristi and the kids arrived about 10:30 PM and they were tired, so we got them to the RV and went to sleep.
July 1, 2015 -Wednesday
Today was our day off work! We slept in and then took Kristi and the kids on a tour of the Park. We ate lunch in Bayview at Ralph's. We had sandwiches and ice cream. then we went back to the RV and took it easy for a while. Kristi and the kids went swimming in Lake Pend Oreille.
For supper we went into Athol and ate Pizza. While we were sitting there, Kristi saw a moose strolling down the street on the other side of the road.
We went to the other side of the park again and spotted 7 deer. Before we looked for the deer we stopped at the flying field and talked to a guy who was flying his remote control plane. We also talked to Errin (our Boss -Volunteer Coordinator) who had just finished a bike race. We introduced her to Kristi and the kids.
July 2, 2015 - Thursday
Ok, today we were slow to get up and get moving. I think the trip caught up to Kristi. We went to Coeur D'Alene (Hayden) and got groceries at Walmart. We also went to Home Depot and got a shade to add to the awning, since it has been hot. We also stopped at Blue Dog RV for a couple of items. Oh yeah, it was so hot, we had to stop at Wendy's and get a Frosty. We got home and put away all the food and supplies. Next up - we went to Beaver Bay and waded in the Lake! Steve even rolled his overalls up and got in the water!
July 3, 2015 - Friday-
I don't really remember how the morning got started. I got a call from Marsha and she told me what a pickle Nancy was in about getting home and then returning to a Skilled Nursing Facility. Steve and Logan and I went back to Bayview and did laundry. Kristi and Austyn went to Coeur D'Alene to a sports store to get a tube that Kristi could use in the Lake. We got home before they did and rested. After they got here - they all went swimming and Steve & I napped!
July 4, 2015 - Saturday Happy Independence Day!
Today we slept and Kristi got up early and walked the shoreline trail. We were walking the dogs when she returned. She wanted to go eat breakfast, so we loaded up the kids and went to Bayview. We forgot it was Bayview Daze, parade and street vendors. We went to Ralph's for breakfast - they had a simplified menu and wanted everyone to use a celebrity name for identifying their order. We then sat in the hot sun and watched the parade. It had fire trucks, a few decorated golf carts, some nice classic cars and a few floats.
We then returned to the RV and hung out a while. Kristi and the kids went to Beaver Bay for swimming and Steve and I went to Athol for a few additional supplies. When we returned, we cooked our hamburgers, corn on the cob, and chips. We were kind of late, so we did not have a campfire and s'mores because we did not want to start a fire and have to put it out to go watch fireworks.
We drove as close as we could to the viewpoint, then hiked with our chairs down as close to Bayview as we could. The fireworks were nice. The most amazing thing was how they thundered from bouncing around the mountain.
