June 2021, The last half has been pretty busy and hot!

June 16 - 23, 2021

We did laundry on Wednesday and did chores around town. I sent my sister and her husband a housewarming card with some money to buy something for their new place. Since they aren’t staying at our house I suspended Direct TV today also. In the evening we drove to Swan River and checked out the forest campground and day use area there.

Our Dock under water- needs pulled out.

When we got home the Sheriff came by and asked us to close the gate at 11 PM. They had heard through snapchat that a party was going to happen at Echo lake tonight. So we tried to close it, but the gate doesn’t meet. So we did the best we could and stayed up late. No party ever happened. Yea!

Thursday we woke up tired because we were up late watching the gate. We did all the usual chores and took a nap. Later we had a nice campfire and listened to music.

Friday we did chores at both sites! Later, our boss was here to move the dock out. He forgot the toilet paper (supplies). We told him about our adventures: the rock, no electricity and the Sheriff visit. I talked to the vet in Bigfork . Steve’s hip was hurting him so I put the TENS unit on him.

On Saturday I found out the card I sent to my sister arrived safely. Steve wanted to rent a carpet shampooer and clean the RV Carpet. He worked hard on the carpet all day. We returned it later and drove around with the dogs. We stopped at Dairy Queen for ice cream!

Sunday was Father’s Day - so I took Steve to Echo Lake Cafe to celebrate. That took up a lot of the morning. That was pretty much the highlight. I talked to both my sisters also. We had some corn chowder and berries for supper.

Monday we did all the chores here and in town. We snacked for lunch. Later we made a fire and fixed potatoes in foil and hamburgers on the grill. The food sure tastes good when it’s cooked outside. We also had s’mores. Yum! The game warden was here and we tried to get him to have a s’more, but he said he was full. He has a new boat and he put out the no wake buoys.

Tuesday we headed up to Kalispell and made stops at Walgreens, FWP Office and Walmart. We got home about 1:30 PM and had a late lunch. Supper was just a snack. Wednesday it was overcast and not too hot. We collected trash on the road and also walked part of the loop road. Our boss called and said he would be out of town for 4 days.

June 24 - 30, 2021

On Thursday, I was able to talk to Hazel. They had just arrived at Bigfork and were able to snag a cottage at Bridge Street Cottages. They lucked into a cancellation! So we picked them up and took them to Rosa’s Pizza for supper. Then we drove to Wood’s Bay to the fishing access site and all around Bigfork. We saw lots of deer in town.

On Friday (25th), We were ready to head to town about 10:15 and two ladies on a golf cart stopped us and complained about the gate not being shut at night. We explained that it has not been shut at night for the last 3 summers while we have been hosting here. We listened and then gave them the phone number of our boss. Then we did our chores in town and picked up Linda and Hazel for lunch at the Echo Lake Cafe. After lunch we went to the RV for a few minutes. Then Steve & I took Buster to the vet and the girls went to unload their stuff at a tipi for the night’s accommodations.

When Buster was finished at the vet, we took him to the RV and then Steve and I picked up Hazel & Linda again and we were off on a big drive. We drove up through Columbia Falls to the Camas Road entrance to Glacier National Park.

We made a few stops for pictures and then stopped at Lake McDonald. We all got out and looked around. In addition, we got some ice cream. Yum! We drove the girls back to the tipi for the night and we got home about 9:00 PM. Saturday it was back to the routine things at Echo Lake. I put up a few decoration on the RV and took a nap.

Party below us

After our nap, the was a huge group of people with two shade tents right below our door. They finally left at 6:30 PM. Sunday was more of the same, chores, walk, monitor the activity. There were lots of people enjoying the lake today. Monday was also pretty routine. On Tuesday, we were up early because we wanted to do our chores before it got too hot. The high was 96 degrees today. We went to town and did our laundry and got home by 10:45. The boss called about the gate issue. We may need to start closing it at night. We did take a nap this afternoon and when we got up we found our surge protector and the end of our RV cord had burned. So we loaded up the dogs and went to Bish’s RV to get a new one. Steve fixed it when we got home and we ran our generator to get the RV cooled off. Today’s high was 96 degrees! On Wednesday it was another hot day!  it was 97 degrees at 6:25 PM. Too Hot for late June in Montana! Steve tried to work on the gate - but it doesn’t meet properly to lock it. He did some weed eating and I helped him for awhile. We watched some people moving in a dock system today - they had quite a little flotilla.
