Klinger Musings: November 2022

Tuesday (27th) We have stayed in Cody at least three or four times in our RVing travels. But we have never visited the Buffalo Bill Museum of the West. That was on the agenda this trip. It is huge! There are five museums in one building. When you buy a ticket - you can return a 2nd day. And we got the senior citizen discount! What a great deal! We did all the usual things this morning and then got dressed and headed to the Museum. We arrived there about 10:30 and stayed til noon. Then we went back to the RV to have lunch and walk the dogs. Then we returned to the museum from1:30 - 3:00 PM. The place is huge and there are so many great displays to look at. My favorite was the natural history - which had the wildlife. It was the first one we toured.

Our afternoon tour was from about 1:30 to 3:00 PM and then we were pooped. So it was back to the RV to rest for awhile. We went out for supper to Michael's Tacos and then hit up Walmart on the way home.

Wednesday (28) Today we got up about 8 and had our breakfast. We watched some TV and then got dressed. After walking the dogs we gathered up the laundry and used the campground washers and dryers. After that was finished we took a nap. Later we took a drive northwest of Cody to see if we could find a good spot to walk the dogs. But that was a bust, so we went to the City Park with the dogs. They had so much fun.

They have these bison all over town in Cody, WY.

They have a music park here, which is cool. You can play the instrument (similar to wind chimes).

Of course we saw deer on the courthouse lawn in Cody, WY.

Thursday (29) WE did our usual morning routine. Then we got ready to return to the Buffalo Bill Museum of the West. Today we toured the Western Art and then the Gun section. Of course you can't take pictures in the Art section, but we really enjoyed that part. We thought it might not float our boat, but since it was Western Art we took our time checking it all out.

They have 7,000 guns in this museum collection and 4,500 of them were on display. If you are interested in guns at all - you could be here for days.

The day ended up cloudy, just like the morning started.

After we finished at the museum we had lunch at the historic Irma Hotel. It was a buffet and the food could have been hotter. We ate here on another trip and I recalled that as being good. I mean, the food wasn't bad, but not as good as I expected. A storm rolled came in and we took a nap. Later we hooked up the pickup and dumped our holding tanks to prepare for the morning takeoff.

Friday (30) Today we left Cody about 9:15 AM. That was after doing all the routine things and making the RV ready to travel. We drove around town a bit to find a gas station where we would fit. Finally we found one and it was the highest price we paid for gas at $4.15/gal. We headed to Thermopolis, WY and the Wind River Canyon. The drive was lovely. The scenery along the Wind River is stunning. My pictures did not turn out great because they were through the windshield of the RV and it had lots of bugs on it. Our stop today was at Douglas , WY and we stayed at the KOA there. It was about 2:30 PM when we arrived. We stop here often on our trips to Montana because it is convenient. Also, don't go as far as Wheatland - because there are no great RV parks there (in my opinion- made that mistake last year).
