Monday (September 19) We got up and did our usual routine including a walk. When we finished, we started locking up all the stuff outside. We disconnected the utilities and prepared the RV to leave. We brought in the slides and raised the jacks. Then we pulled out of our spot and into the parking lot to attach the pickup. We left Echo Lake about 10:45 AM. We drove to Seeley Lake. We filled up the RV there and then toured the River Point Campground. The sites were not large enough for us. So we went to Larch Campground. We got a really nice spot there. It even had blacktop roads and parking sites. It was a really nice campground. It was in the Flathead National Forest and it was free because it's late in the camping season. We got set up and unhooked the pickup. The we drove to Morrell Creek and walked the dogs and did some exploring. We toured the other forest campground and checked out the lake. If you are ever in Montana, the drive from Echo Lake to Seeley Lake and on to Deer Lodge is just lovely. Hopefully you can check it out for yourself.
We saw this little dead snake on our walk. |
This is how we do it! Padlocks & Chains on everything when we close down for the season. |

Tuesday (20) We got up and had breakfast. After we got dressed we walked the campground loop. It was a little chilly this morning. So again we got the the RV ready to travel and attached the pickup. We drove to Deer Lodge and arrived about 1:30 PM. As usual we stayed at Indian Creek Campground - it is one of our regular stops. We checked in and plugged in the RV. It was chilly and windy. We walked the dogs then watched TV and took a short nap. We had seen a feature story on TV about a restaurant in Deer Lodge and we wanted to check it out. When we went there for supper - it was closed - they didn't get their food order. So we went downtown and ate at the Broken Arrow Steakhouse for supper. The food wasn't bad but definitely not great. Some of my food wasn't very hot. Also it took a long time to get served. Anyway we returned to the RV and walked the dogs and watched TV.
We saw this on our walk around the campground. I think it is an Earth Roamer. Did not see the people so no visiting. |
This was our site at the forest. |
Wednesday (21) We were up fairly early. So we had breakfast and watched some TV. Then we got dressed and walked the dogs. Steve worked on his chair. We were able to eat lunch at K & M Burger. This was the restaurant that was featured on TV. They had a little bit of Bigfoot decor. But really it was more like a diner not a restaurant. The food was really good though. I think the TV story had been embellished. On our way back to the RV we stopped off at the grocery store. We watched some TV and tried to nap - but we were unable to sleep. So we walked the dogs. There was more rain after 9 PM. We made our plans on where to go Thursday.
Of course you see deer at Indian Creek RV CG in Deer Lodge! |

Thursday (22) We got up and around then walked the dogs. Next we unhooked our utilities and hooked up the pickup. We drove to Butte, MT. We needed supplies. This took up part of the morning. Then we were on our way to Dillon, MT. We arrived there about 1;30 PM. It got windy as we drove south on I-15. We stayed at a really nice RV Park - Southside RV Park. The lady who checked us in gave us all the information on sightseeing around the area.It as a little rainy and chilly this evening.

Friday (23) After it warmed up we drove to Bannack State Park. It's a ghost town. We were able to have the dogs tour all the house along with us. They said the dogs could even go in the houses. It was a beautiful day and we spent quite a bit of time touring the town and enjoying being outside. Next we drove all the way to the Bighole National Battlefield. It was a long drive on a beautiful day. We could not take the dogs on the trail here - so that was disappointing. But I just love to tour these places I have read about where the Nez Perce fled on from the US Army in 1877. Then we drove back to the RV and ordered pizza for supper. Later we watched My Lottery Dream Home and Dateline.
