Catch Up and Off We Go! May 12, 2018

Well I thought we were finished with doctor appointments - but not quite. We went to the VA on the 25th of April to get Steve's hernia repair checked out.  And good news: He was fine, just may have some pain off and on for awhile.
Field of Flags - Child Abuse Victims
We saw all these flags displayed south of the Capitol in OKC in honor of child abuse victims.

Thursday the 26th of April - I got my hair colored and a few other things around the house.  On Friday, the 27th we took the RV to the Perry Lake and checked for water leaks, shampooed the carpet, and lubricated the slides and jacks! We stayed overnight and felt we got a lot accomplished.
Baby Calf
On one of our trips between the Lake & the House -Steve noticed a mama cow about to calve. When we returned about 45 minutes later - the calf was born and standing up getting ready to nurse. This was really neat to see.

On Saturday, the 28th we drove to Sand Springs and celebrated my niece's birthday while watching Parker play basketball.

Sunset on our way home!
Steve and I ate at Napoli's in Sand Springs - and it was OK - but nothing to write home about.  Their bread was really good - but I can make a better Penne pasta bake!
Sunday - we changed the oil in the generator and did laundry.
On Monday, the 23rd of April - we went to see my sister Nancy at her nursing home. I took her some books to read and worked with her on using her computer for email. Steve had an appointment at the VA for his SCI (MS) appointment.  That went well. Tuesday Steve worked on trying to correct the steering control adjusted. This took awhile. Steve's last appointment at the VA was on Wednesday, May 2 - so that was early in the morning and we booked it home before noon. Thursday we went to Walmart and stocked up on groceries. Friday - we mowed most of the yard and then we finished on Saturday. Also on Saturday - we drove to Enid to celebrate JC's birthday. It was nice - we watched the Kentucky Derby,  had hamburgers on the grill and visited.  JC liked his card and money.
On Sunday the 6th of May - we went to OKC and met Kristi and the kids for an early Mother's Day celebration! We ate at Red Lobster and it was really good!
On Monday we stayed home - Steve woke up not feeling well - allergies. We called the VA at Stillwater - but they could not get him in. So they wanted him take Mucinex and Zyrtec twice a day and see how that worked.  Also - it was a real Monday. The air conditioner quit cooling about 9 or 10 PM. So we went out and turned on the AC in the RV and slept in it. Of course I called 3 or 4 AC service people - none could get out that day. So when we went out to supper on Tuesday with Linda and Hazel - Linda suggested B & L Heating & Air out of Stillwater. I called them the next day and they came out on Thursday.
My peony bloomed!

Wednesday - we just took it easy - since we wanted to make sure Steve got to feeling better. On Thursday - we cleaned the house and started loading the RV and did a few more loads of laundry.

Friday we finished packing the RV and Steve put the satellite dish on the RV. By they time he finished - we were both pooped. Neither one of us had slept good. Also the wind was blowing about 25 miles an hour and just making us more tired.  So we went to Perry Lake and set up  the RV and took a nap.  We made a decision to take off on Saturday morning.
OK - so today is Saturday and we actually took off for our trip north. We got up about 8 AM and walked the dogs. Then we put the tow bar on the RV, unhooked the utilities, gassed up and took off.
This has been a process getting launched this year. I finally figured out - we have been RVing part time for 15 years. Maybe we are getting older, and that is why it seems a little more difficult to get packed and get away. Anyway - we are happy to be on the road and headed to Montana! We stopped at Salina KOA tonight and will continue north and west until we get where we are going!
