8/19/12 Sunday Homeward Bound

Got in the RV and pointed it east on I-80 with the Ipod jammin out tunes. The semi-truck traffic is heavy on this interstate. Had lunch in the RV. We decided to turn south near York, NE and head down US Hiway 81--good four lane--less traffic. We at at the Iron Skillet at York and it was not great--not worth writing home about. Steve was in the groove with his driving so he stayed at it till almost dark-thirty. We found a city park at Hebron, NE (paid$5) for 30 amp electric and it had a dump site. It was a CCC camp-from 1934 to 1941 and then held German POW's from December 1943 to November 1945. Interesting! We were told by some RV'ers in Albuquerque that they like to stay in Nebraska because there are a lot of these city/county parks that don't charge much. So we tried this out. We were glad we did because there was only one or two other RVs there -- pretty much had the place to ourselves. It also had a nice bathroom and shower if we would have needed it.
