September 22, 2019 Sunday Mountain Man Museum

I got up about 7:30 or 8:00 AM. It has been chilly outside - and it make me want to stay under the covers! Steve again woke up early - like 4:00 AM with pain. So we walked the dogs and made our preparations to leave. We got on the road about 10:15 AM. Again we passed through some lovely scenery near Hoback, WY on our way to Pinedale, WY. The Hoback River wound along the road most of the way. The skies were clear with a lovely breeze.
It is my understanding that you can click on any of the pictures in the blog and make them bigger.

We stopped at Pinedale ,WY for gas and a tour. The sign as we entered Pinedale said: "Pinedale, Wyoming: All the civilization you need." We toured the Mountain Man Museum, something I've wanted to do for quite awhile. I really enjoyed this since I knew a little about trapping from my late husband, Glenn. When fashion changed from hats made of beaver to hat made of silk, this led to a significant decrease in the fur trade.  These days, they re-enact a Mountain Man Rendezvous every year, the second full week-end in July. I read about another Rendezvous at Fort Bridger over Labor Day week-end. It would be fun to attend one of these sometime.
I would try to put these in the order I saw them - but that would drive me crazy!

We arrived at Rock Springs, WY about 4:00 PM and considered staying at the Sweetwater Event Complex (fairgrounds), but changed our minds and went to KOA for a pull thru site - easy in and out. There was no scenery at either place. In my opinion, Rock Springs is not a very pretty place, but it is near the Green River Recreation Area and that is pretty.

We ordered pizza and watched football. I was trying to catch up on the blog - but didn't make a lot of progress.
