September 14 and 15, 2018 Moving On

We left Beavertail Hill State Park about 10:30 AM and drove east on I-90.

Runaway Truck Ramp

We passed a runaway truck ramp - those are always a little scary to see.  There was a rest stop at Homestake Pass - so we pulled over and walked the dogs. We didn't walk long because there were stickers and the dogs hate those. There was a long steep grade after Homestake pass that lasted about 5 miles - but we made it with no problems. Steve is a good driver!
The scenery changes

We stopped at Cardwell RV Park in Cardwell, MT.  It was behind a convenience store and they gave a veteran's discount.  We stayed in this area so we could see Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park and The Headwaters of the Missouris State Park. After we got set up - we rested and took naps because neither of us had slept well the night before.

When Saturday rolled around (15th) we went to Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park and took a walk on the nature trail. We explored the park, but didn't take the cave tour since we had our dogs with us.

Then we toured the Missouri Headwaters State Park and meandered around.  We toured this park in 2003 but they have added some interpretive displays and it is much more developed now.  On our previous visit we were underwhelmed! LOL

Later we returned to the RV to watch Oklahoma State play football. We also fill our onboard water tank and hooked up the pickup.
We plan to roll into the Yellowstone area tomorrow. Hopefully staying at a forest campground that has electricity but no water hook-up. So we are prepared.
