I told Steve I would drive, so he could take pictures and concentrate on relaxing a little. We got to the park and waited in line, then stopped at the visitor center. We each went in separately while the other one stayed with the dogs. Buster goes insane when anyone walks by the pickup and so does Zoey. They are too protective I guess.
We started driving the road through the park and taking pictures. Most of the viewpoints were busy. Some of them were packed.
We enjoyed the drive and seeing the lovely sights In order to see many of the arches, you need to hike. Which we could do, but doggies can't go on trails in the National Parks. So we see what we can from the road. There are supposed to be 2,000 arches in the park - we probably saw about 5-6 from the road. Also the altitude and sun are making Steve uncomfortable. The temperatures have been 70 and 80, but the sun beats down and it feels much hotter here. The elevation in Moab is 4,500 feet, but part of the road goes up to 6,000 feet. I think we would be better off to visit here in the early spring or later in the fall. The landscapes are huge and very photogenic.
We finished the drive and returned to the RV. We took it easy and watched some TV.
Next we had supper at Fiesta Mexican Restaurant. The food was bland, but OK. The salsa was HOT!
The iced tea was cold!
We also did our laundry and were at the park laundromat until about 11:00 PM. It was $2.00 per machine to wash and $1.25 per dryer -- laundry gets expensive from time to time. But it is nice to have clean clothes!
