Monday, March 9, 2020 Driving Through Big Bend National Park

We woke up to a cool morning and did our routine things. Next we hooked the pickup up and disconnected the utilities. One main thing we have noticed about this area is the lack of noise. There is no traffic noise, and very little other noise. It has been overcast, so we have not been able to see the beautiful skies that most people love about this area.
There was no one manning the entrance station today at the Persimmon Gap area. But we were good because we had the pass from yesterday on the RV Window.  I think the Corona Virus scare is starting to take a hold. We drove the RV through the park and stopped at Panther Junction Visitor Center. We went in  and it was a little crowded (small visitor center). We bought some postcards, since our pictures have not been great due to cloudy skies. I also bought a magnet.  East of the Panther Junction Visitor Center is Dugout Wells, Hot Springs and Rio Grande Village. We did not visit this area. Rio Grande Village is the RV campground in the park and we could not get into it. Also March is the busiest month at this park because many folks are on Spring Break. A fall trip might be better.
We finishing driving through the main part of the park and got to our next location, Terlingua. We got set up and walked the dogs. Then we took it easy for awhile.  Even though this RV park is pretty full it is still quiet outside. We stayed at Big Bend Resort and Adventures.  When I tried to make reservations a few months back, we couldn't get in at Maverick Ranch or Lajitas Golf & RV Resort. Better Luck next time.

This is the Fossil Discovery Area

These are pictures out the RV window as we were driving through the park.
