Saturday through Tuesday, Museum Hosting June 13-16, 2015

Saturday

Today at the museum, we had a wonderful visitor.  He had done his training here in 1944.  He and I had a great visit.  He told me a few interesting stories and explained some of the day to day life here at Farragut Naval Training Station.  He told me about the shenanigans that the recruits would play on each  other.  He remembered how to do the signal light and explained the insignia on several of the uniforms.  He was 89 years old and very sharp.  He attended Gonzaga and became a civil engineer after WWII.  Anyway he made my day as a museum host!

We drove to Bayview for supper (about 3-4 miles) and had supper at Captain D's.  We had fish and chips which was good.  We were going to eat outside, but it smelled too fishy! So we ate inside and looked at the boats.  Since we left the dogs at the RV we drove around Bayview and up Cape Horn Road.

We enjoyed the views of Lake Pend Oreille and more beautiful sunset pictures.

Sunday
We had another visitor who had been stationed here for his basic training.  He wasn't as talkative as the guy we had yesterday, but still very nice and great to see.

Monday
Today is the day we get new gravel for our sites at the museum.  We got up at 6:00 AM, walked the dogs and had our breakfast.  We needed to move the RV out of the way so the gravel could be delivered and spread out.  We decided to drive into town and fill up the RV with gas. That way if we needed to turn on the air conditioner we could use the generator, while parked in the parking lot. While we were in Athol, we went by the Auto Parts Store to have them check one of our batteries, because the generator wouldn't start without a jump.  A nice lady checked the battery and it was good.  When we returned to the Museum and parked though, the generator wouldn't start again!  Steve finally found a loose battery cable connection and that seemed to fix it! Yea!

Next up we opened the museum and made sure it was tidy.  Steve dusted off the fire truck and the other truck.  He also cleaned the glass cases. I counted the donations and checked out how many visitors we had.
Even though we were tired tonight, we wanted to have a campfire.  We went down to Whitetail camping loop and saw John for some firewood and a nice chat about the deer we all check for most nights!

Tuesday
Somewhat slow today!
