Thursday, June 4, 2015 Buttonhook Bay and Drive to Priest Lake State Park

We slept in this morning.  After walking the dogs, I fixed us some turkey bacon and eggbeaters, Yum!
Our next adventure was to take a hike to Buttonhook Bay (southern point of Lake Pend Orielle). We opened the locked gate into Buttonhook Group Camp and found a place to park the pickup.  Then we went down a pretty steep trail until we reached the edge of the Lake.  This place has some really magnificent views!  The dogs waded a little while and I took pictures with my iPhone.

There was a boat on the lake -- we watched it a bit.

This would be a lovely place to tent camp, or just sit and read and relax.  Lovely.  Then we had the hike back up the steep hill.  We made it!

We mulled over what to do next, and decided that even though it was late, we would drive to Priest Lake State Park.  It is about 30 miles south of Canada.  The drive there was also very pretty.  The trees here are so tall with a good variety and no pine beetle bugs yet!

We finally got there and found out they had a dog beach!  The dogs had great fun wading in Priest Lake.  There is a nice description of how the park got it's name - basically named after a Catholic Priest.

Then we took the nature hike and took some pictures.

We decided that we better head home so we can shower and get to bed--got to work in the morning!
