Getting to New Orleans, May 20, 2017
We got more rain and muggy weather. It poured down rain on us for awhile, but we caught a break and walked the dogs. Next we stowed the slides, jacks and utilities. Then we were on the road. This would be an excellent camping spot , especially in cooler weather. It was too hot for a fire last night. So onward to the Big Easy, after filling the RV with gas. Steve did a great job driving, even with some hard rain storms. We sure were glad we had new windshield wiper blades! We got to New Orleans about 3:00 or 3:30 PM and found the French Quarter RV Park. It is next door to the St. Louis Cemeteries 1 & 2). We found out that to see the cemeteries - you need to take a paid tour. We are also next to I-10 and the homeless population.
We set up the RV and walked the dogs. We loaded the dogs in the pick-up and drove down to the French Quarter to find the conference location. The hotel is on Canal Street--Very busy, lots of construction, one-way streets and pedestrians along with bicycle taxis! CRAZEE! We watched the Preakness and Cloud Computing won. Great horse race.
After we got back we fixed supper and went to bed. We were tired. This park has a lot of security: 6 foot high concrete block fence with a sharp edge top, we have a gate with a code to use to get in and out another is a security guard at night. All evening long we heard sirens - police, fire?, ambulance? but when we went to bed - we slept!
