Today's Dietitian Conference - Tuesday, May 23, 2017

I went to the seminars and toured the exhibits again. I have really enjoyed the speakers at this conference. They have done a great job in providing information that has kept me engaged. I like that! I did leave before the last presentation because Steve & I have not got to do much sightseeing. She he picked me up and we went to the RV park and talked to the lady in the office about tours. Steve wanted to go on the Ghost tour after dark - so that is what we chose.
We walked the dogs and enjoyed some sunshine and got rested up a bit before our tour. About 6:45 we walked to the meeting place downtown for the tour. When our bus arrived we hopped in and enjoyed our air conditioned ride. As we rode to the first cemetery our guide talked about the places we were driving by and some of the history of New Orleans. We arrived at the first cemetery - St. Louis Cemetery #3, then we went to the Masonic cemetery, followed by the Holt cemetery (for indigent people). Our guide told us about the history and burial practices in New Orleans. It was quite informative - about halfway through we stopped at Morning Call - located in the CIty Park to take a restroom break and get refreshments if we wanted. Our last stop was the Katrina Memorial which was built on the site of the old Charity Hospital. She talked quite a bit here about her experiences during Katrina - rough times. Then the bus went back to the French Quarter and people got off near their hotels. The driver took us directly back to the RV Park and so we tipped him about $15, we also tipped our guide. The tour cost was $40 each and it was well worth the money. I would do another tour like this in the daylight in order to get better pictures, but this was fun and a little different.
