Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Medora, ND June 26, 2017 Monday
Today we leave Spearfish SD and drive north to Medora, ND. It took awhile to get going! There was no suitable place to get gas in Spearfish, so our plan was to gas up in Belle Fouche.
We stopped at a Sinclair there and the gas would barely come out of the nozzle, I checked inside and found out they were out of gas--waiting on a truck So we went across the street and pulled in just to wait for the person in front to move so we would fit. Finally, we got gas. Then we pulled back across to Sinclair to put Lucas additive in the transmission. We got going about 11:45 AM - after about 2 hours we made dog rest stop. Then we drove about another hour and a half and got ice cream and took a little break with the dogs, we were close to Medora.
We arrived at the Medora Campground and their computers were down--they couldn't figure out where we were supposed to go--finally the computers came back up and we found out which site to go to. We got parked and set up.
After some lag time we drove to Theodore Roosevelt National Park about 7 PM. the perfect time to watch wildlife.
We saw feral horses first, then buffalo and deer. Lots of prairie dog villages are in this national park.
We saw more buffalo, deer and feral horses.
The day ended with a beautiful sky.
