August 11, 2016 Thursday Preparing to Leave

Well, Wednesday didn't go quite as planned.  Steve went to work with me and hung out until about 11 am, then he decided to go to K-Mart, Wal-Mar, and Lowe's instead of just sitting around.  When he finished, he returned to the hospital, but I wasn't finished working, so he hung out. When I finished we returned to T & W Tire, the RV was sitting up front - so we knew it was done - but no idea why they didn't call and let us know.  So we paid the bill for the shop time and brake pads and balancing the tires on the rear of the motorhome.  Then we left to go home - me in the car, Steve in the RV.  We went south down Van Buren and then east on Owen K Blvd - both busy streets with lots of traffic lights.  When we got out of town about 2 miles - Steve called me and said something is wrong! He thought the fuse or some thing was broken on the overdrive - because he couldn't get the RV to go.
We stopped and found out that the brakes had locked up.  Oh no!  So he call the shop and told them and they said to bring it back.  We went on the outskirts of town (the back way) in case something else bad happened.  He was able to get it to the shop, but just barely -because he had to push the gas so hard to get it to go.  OK - the mechanic test drove it and they put it in the back of the shop.

We got in my car and headed home for the day - finally got home about 6:30 or 7:00 PM,  Whew, were we relieved.
OK, that brings us to Thursday,  I returned to work and Steve was at home.  We were ready to probably scrap this trip.  The shop thought that the brake calipers needed to be replaced - they thought there was a recall on them.  They could not get Workhorse (the Okarche, OK) shop to agree to let them fix it.  Next thing, Steve calls me at work and says he is headed to Enid in his pickup to bring the RV home.  OK - well what about these calipers that need fixed?  The shop said they had taken it on several test drives and had no problems with the brakes.  When I got off work I went to where the RV was and Steve drove up soon. So, in 105 degree heat - we hooked up the pickup to the RV and drove it home to Perry - then unhooked and put it in the RV port.  When we put the RV in the port - we have to take the tow bar out or the RV won't go into the uphill part of the driveway without problems.  So this was not fun in that horrible heat.
Again, We were pooped!
We decided to do as Scarlet in Gone with the Wind and think about it tomorrow!
