August, 2016 Preparing for Vacation!

Well, August is here and bearing down on us! The HEAT DOME has covered us! So far, we have survived. On Tuesday- the 2nd of August - we got the oil changed on the Motorhome, and gassed it up.

The we were going to replace a sewer cap on the roof - so we stopped at our local hardware store to get the vent covers. Well, when Steve pulled the RV in the dip was too low for the back of the RV and it pulled off our mud flap and the angle iron that it is bolted to got bent. So we developed a new problem (challenge). We went home and Steve took off the rubber mud flap and we went to our local welding shop and they straightened it. When they were done they welded it back on the RV. Next we went home and rested - because it was HOT - Heat Index of about 104 degrees. We did Laundry, then had our usual Tuesday night supper at La Macarena. When it was almost dusk - we went out and bolted the mud flap back on the angle iron. Problem solved. I went to work Wednesday. When I got home - the car was leaking oil, bad. Steve thought it was the sending unit and that he could replace it. Thursday morning came and he went and looked at it and found that the sending unit was not the problem -- it had finally started leaking oil too bad (we had been dealing with a problem of it using coolant) and knew something was up. So we looked online at some cars. Then we went out to Vance Chevrolet in Perry and traded for a different car for me, a 2014 Chevrolet Impala.

Now I will have to work to get it paid off! Oh Boy! Friday - I drove my new car to work and home - no problems. On Saturday we drove the RV to Enid to replace the back tires on the Motorhome (4 new ones). They were surprised that it was a motorhome, it won't fit inside, maybe they thought we had a little camper trailer - not sure...My sister Pam picked us up and we shopped for a bit then went to Katy's Pantry for Lunch. While we were standing in line to order,  the tire place called and said they couldn't balance the tires...I was wanting to find a different place and we told them to forget it. Then Steve thought about it awhile and called them back and told them to go ahead and put them on. Then the restaurant lost our food order and when it did come my Chicken Caesar salad didn't have any chicken on it! They gave us a complimentary dessert for our trouble --but that is probably the last time I will eat in there. It has some really nice breads and desserts and other food items - but they are always slow and inefficient! After that the RV was finished, so we went home --Oh by the way they said our brakes did not look good. --Woo Hoo - another problem!
Sunday - we got a few things together for the trip and put them in the RV and we rested. I went to work on Monday, and Steve called T & W Tire in Enid - Yes they could balance the tires and check out the brakes. So Tuesday (today), after we mowed the yard, Steve drove the RV to Enid and I drove the car. We dropped off the Motorhome and went to lunch at McDonald's, then went shopping, including Walmart! We were brave! We went back to the shop where the RV was and Steve talked to the mechanic about how long it might take. Steve looked at the brake pads and drums and we will have new pads and wait on the drums - they seem to be in good shape. So tomorrow, we will go to Enid and I will go to work and Steve will pick up the RV and bring it home. I also went to the Post Office and got the mail held and found someone to mow the yard while we are gone. Tonight it is back to La Macarena for our regular Tuesday night supper out. Ain't life grand! We hope to get out of here on Friday the 12th of August. We'll see if everything co-operates!
