Driving to Newport, WA July 2, 2017 Sunday

Today was a driving day-left Missoula about 9:15 AM-only had to unhook the utilities because we did not disconnect the pickup. So we got on I-90 and headed west.
We had Lookout Pass and Fourth of July pass and some curves, nothing too scary. We also passed through the beautiful Couer D'Alene area and a very nice Idaho rest stop.
Here is a nice barn we saw near Rathdrum, ID
We arrived at the Thousand Trails which is partnered with KOA here (Newport, WA) about 2:00 PM. The first thing we had to do was dump our black and gray tanks, so they would be empty because they don't have Full Hook-Ups (FHU) here and we had already stayed 2 nights without FHU. We are scheduled to stay here 4 nights. First of all you have to pick out your own site at Thousand Trails, but there was a man who drove me around and showed me two sites he thought would be best for us. I appreciated that. So then I showed Steve and we picked out our site and got set up. The satellite dish can't see around the trees - so no TV. We explored the lodge and pond. The dogs love it here because there are ground squirrels they can sniff and hunt. We went back to town (Newport) for supper, mine was not good - Steve got chicken strips and French Fries - his was OK. We definitely won't return. Next we stopped at McDonald's for ice cream (I had to get the bad taste out of my mouth). On our return trip we looked at the Little Diamond lake and returned to the RV.
Also my cell signal is not great here - but they have wifi in two places (the laundry and the lodge). They also have disc golf, playground, a ballfields, swimming pool & Pond. Anyway we are set for the 4th of July and will not be on the highway until the 6th- which should help keep us safe.
